Friday Favorites {#165}

Hello and happy Friday!

I feel like Fridays hit different in the summer…how is it already Friday again?!

We’ve had a good, but different kind of week again. Well, actually, I guess no two weeks have been alike this summer.

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

This week, I’ve kind of shared what we’ve been up to and/or some favorites, so I don’t have much new to share today.

I’m going to keep it simple and break down my favorites with each of my people this week…

Hayden:

First up, is Hayden.

After Hayden got back from South Carolina with his friend, Hadley had already left for camp. That meant that Travis and I went from having 1:1 time with Hadley to having 1:1 time with Hayden.

This week, some favorite things we did were: watch sports together (as athletic as Hadley is, she doesn’t watch sports on tv), watch a movie, and run errands (yes, errands –Hayden went with Travis and I to Walmart, and then he went to Dick’s and Target with me on Wednesday.)

Having kids that are old enough to stay home alone means that sometimes we leave them while we run errands. Actually, Travis and I don’t run errands together too often, but we’ve started to do more of that recently. Anyway, it was nice to do some random things like that together.

Also, we loved watching Hayden run his first 10k on the 4th of July, and catch fireworks later that night. We’ve mostly eaten at home, but we did treat ourselves to breakfast after his race and some froyo later in the week.

Hadley:

Travis and I dropped Hadley off at a local church for camp pick up at 5:30 am on Saturday. She rode on a charter bus all the way to camp in Missouri. She had the best five days with her friends and leaders…and arrived home at 2am yesterday morning.

I took a nap from 10pm-1am before picking her up at 2! I was so happy to see her smiling face, and she was ready for her bed!

This is Hadley’s fourth year going to camp, and this one was the farthest away she’s been. When she got her phone back and texted our family group chat, she said the best part was “everything” and she wished that it lasted longer. I’ve always been thankful that Hadley has had the courage and confidence to go away to camp…and I truly think she could go for most of the summer if we’d let her…and could afford it. haha

She made some great memories this week, but we are happy to have her home.

How about this camp for me? 😆

My mom sent me this, and I feel it deeply.

Trav:

Today is this guy’s birthday!! It’s a big one…

We can’t wait to celebrate him this weekend. He deserves it.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Seriously –where did all my forks go?

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

Not Just a Mom:

I can’t believe it’s already time for our monthly Not Just a Mom link up.

This month’s topic is Top 5 Favorite Family Activities.

If you you are a blogger, we’d love to have you join us! I just know that my kids want me to add some more things to our family fun list. haha

What are your weekend plans? We have birthday plans for Travis, and I really need to start chipping away at my summer “to do” list.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Friday Favorites {#164}

Hello and happy Friday!

I can’t believe tomorrow is July 1st! Where did June go?

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

After many days of rain last week, the sun finally came out on Saturday, and I enjoyed some time at the pool. I finished a book and started a new one. I was also able to hang and chat with some mom friends while Hadley ran around with her friends as well.

Not a favorite! I’m glad we got the pool time in because the past few days have provided hazy skies due to the smoke from wildfires in Canada!

I’ve had some one on one time with Hadley this week because Hayden has been in South Carolina all week with his friend’s family. I’ve really missed him, so I’ve loved getting the updates.

When meal planning for the week, I let Hadley choose a couple of dinners. I’m sure Hayden would eat both, but we’ve had salmon and chicken alfredo for dinner. She was a happy camper.

Apparently, Hayden got one of his favorite meals on vacation…oysters!

On Sunday night, Hadley watched a movie with Travis and me. We watched Flamin’ Hot on Disney +. It was about the guy who was a janitor at Frito Lay and later came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. It was a cute and funny movie with a great message.

On Wednesday, after Hadley’s eye doctor appointment, she and I went to see The Little Mermaid at the theater. It was sooo good.

Favorite Clothes:

I have this Shop Style Your Senses dress in two colors. I was excited to wear it for date night last Friday.

I bought this romper earlier this summer, and I’ve been wearing it quite a bit. It’s cute and comfy! I wore it to school one day this week.

After the eye doctor, Hadley and I ran to Walmart. Since I don’t go there often, I looked or a few things that I’d saved on the app…including these athletic shorts…that are only $7! They are buttery soft, and I got them in pink and gray.

Funny story about my black t-shirt. Travis picked it up at Kohls recently…he put it on, and asked if I liked it. I said, “Uhh…I think it’s a women’s shirt!” hahaha…He gave it to me!

Favorite Foods:

For our anniversary, we went to Jeff Ruby’s…while Travis ordered steak, I ordered some sushi. It was so good.

Hadley and I have continued baking once a month, and on Sunday, she made these Oven Baked S’mores. Let me just say it won’t be the last time we make them. Delish!

I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up a few things. I saw these Key Lime Tea Cookies, and oh my word…if you like key lime, you’ll love these.

Favorite Mom Meme(s):

I have bad news for those of you with little ones…lol

…and this one made me chuckle.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

Something about the 4th of July that always has me in my feelings a bit. I love this sweet memory…

Weekly Recap:

I found my blogging groove a bit this week.

What are your weekend plans? We don’t have a ton on tap, and I’m happy about that. I’m officially finished with summer school, and Hayden comes home tomorrow…so my weekend is already off to a great start.

I’ll be back on Monday to share my Amazon purchases from the month.

Thanks for reading!

Hello and happy Friday!

Why do the weeks seem to fly by in the summer?

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Well, instead of my more traditional Friday Favorites post, I’m sharing the details of our trip to Julep Farm last week. This is definitely a favorite place, and one that I hope we visit again.

A little back story: A co-worker of Trav’s told him about Julep Farms, and Travis gave me a gift card to Julep Farms for Christmas 2021. I’d never heard of it, but appreciated the gift, of course. All along, I’d hoped we could visit there in the fall, but I’m not sure what I was thinking…the fall is probably our busiest time of the year. I had kind of forgotten about it, but Travis organized this trip since my mom was available to stay with the kids a couple of extra days when she was visiting.

We don’t do the best job at getting away just the two of us, so this was a great trip to do so and celebrate our anniversary and Trav’s birthday a bit early.

So…here are the details.

Last week, we left on Tuesday morning around 10:00. Thankfully, we had an uneventful car ride and arrived around 3:00.

Super cute scene as we pulled in…

On the property, there are four cottages, and one bigger one across the road. We saw that they are actually building three more cottages, so there will be more options soon. We were staying in the Magnolia cottage. (There is one named “Sweet Tea”…seems like that’s the one we should have stayed in…haha…but really it’s bigger and sleeps six…I guess we didn’t need that one)

Totally my vibe!

I loved the little touches like the mugs, welcome note and popcorn, and the print of the property. Upon seeing the mug, I told Travis I had to have one to take home!

We unpacked and sat on the front porch for a bit.

Then, we walked around the property. There was a large venue that I’m sure people rent for parties and weddings. Next to it, was a silo and seating area as well as a garden.

The “Social House” is where the gift shop, coffee/breakfast bar is as well as the restaurant.

We headed back to the cottage to change for dinner.

While I knew Julep Farms was in Dillard, GA, I hadn’t really looked on the map. Travis had done his “research” and knew that Highlands and Cashiers, NC were nearby. Eventually, when I looked at the map, I could see that Dillard is close to Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina borders.

Anyway, we took the twisty route to Highlands, NC for dinner. It’s a super cute town.

We stopped in Four 65 for a drink and apps. It was really nice to sit on the patio. I was surprised by the cooler temps.

Then, we walked around a bit, and Travis made a reservation for dinner at a restaurant we saw on our walk. Since there was a wait, we popped in to The Ugly Dog for a drink. Since we weren’t going to stay long, we sat at the bar.

Well, while at the bar, we met Billy who chatted…and chatted…and chatted while he had his dinner. He raved about the food at The Ugly Dog and had clearly taken advantage of the half price bottle of wine that is the Tuesday special. lol

Anyway, after our drive to Highlands, we knew we wanted to be back “down the mountain” by dark, so we went ahead and ate at the bar. I had one of the specials, porcini and truffle ravioli with chicken, and it was good. Billy was right! 😉

There were two “scenic overlooks” on the way back to Julep Farms…and I made Travis pull over at both.

Like…how could we not stop and take in these views?

Julep Farms even looks pretty at night!

We sat on the porch for a few minutes before heading to bed.

It was so so nice to sleep in on Wednesday morning. I didn’t get up until close to 9. I enjoyed sitting on the porch with my coffee.

Travis did too…

To be honest, I’m not sure what Dillard, GA has to offer as we spent most of our time on the farm or in NC. That being said, Travis found Veronica’s Cafe in a strip mall off the highway, and we couldn’t wait to eat breakfast.

He got biscuits and gravy, and I ordered pancakes and more coffee. It really hit the spot!

Once we got back to Julep Farm, we stopped in the Social House to check out the gift shop and coffee bar.

Then, we got ready for our hike. We drove to Highlands to Whiteside Mountain. Travis had found a two mile hike. The first mile was a “gradual” incline to the top, and then the return trip was more scenic and downhill.

We made it to the top!

We hiked a bit more and took in the views.

The night before, Billy had told us about Whiteside Brewing Co in Cashiers, so we had planned on going there for lunch. Well, as we made our way to Cashiers, we realized Wednesday was the one day the brewing company was closed.

Pivot!…we ended up at Slabtown Pizza, and it was such a cute restaurant in the village. We split a BBQ chicken pizza.

Then, we headed to a waterfall in Highlands called Dry Falls which is in the Nantahala National Forest.

Travis knows I love a waterfall!

We didn’t have to hike to this one…we just parked a walked a bit down the trail…

It was so pretty…

There was a path to the other side, and it was cool to be behind the waterfall too.

After that, we headed back to Julep Farms and relaxed a bit before dinner.

Since we had no kids (Hadley!) on this trip, we had to rely on a timed selfie on the porch…it was nice to capture a pic since we were dressed up a bit…

We made our way to the restaurant on the property at the Social House. We sat at the bar for an appetizer before sitting outside for dinner.

The views (and the weather!) were amazing…as was the food.

After dinner, we sat on the porch for a couple of hours. I could have taken 100 pics of these sunset views.

Besides the planning, Travis packed a few extras for us including snacks, the cooler, my favorite blanket, and this lovely bottle of wine. It’s a very nice bottle of wine that a client gave him, and we weren’t sure when we’d drink it…

…but I guess he figured this trip would be the perfect time to do so.

Cheers to a couple of great days away!

The next morning, we took it easy. I drank my coffee and read for about an hour before we packed up and headed home.

We definitely could have stayed at least one more day. What would we have done? Probably much of the same…another slow morning, another hike, another good lunch…probably at the brewery we didn’t get to, a nap, and maybe dinner at the place we didn’t get to the first night! While I love getting home, on short trips, I typically wish we stayed one more day.

Not shockingly, I did come home with a mug…in my favorite color.

It’s easier said than done, but I’d love to make this a place we go back to through the years.

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week in case you missed one…

I enjoyed our trip so much that I put together a little reel for Instagram. I will post it this morning. Check it out if you want!

I hope you have a great weekend.

Friday Favorites {#162}

Hello and happy Friday!

How was your week? We had a really good one!

I’m linking up with Andrea to tell you a bit about it.

Here are a few favorites from the week:

Hadley’s recital pics came in, and I couldn’t love them more. There were so many good ones, but these are the two I ordered:

Last weekend was super busy, and all of Sunday was spent at Hadley’s dance recitals. Her studio had two recitals. The first recital was the one where she had most of her dances, so my mom, Trav’s mom, Trav’s two sisters, and Travis and Hayden came to it. She danced in the large production opening number, one small group competition dance, two ballet, one tap, one jazz, and the closing number.

For the later performance, she was in the large production opening number, her other small group lyrical competition dance, and the closing number.

I loved all the colors in the background of each dance…so pretty!

So, over nine hours at the recital venue for two recitals with ten dances and seven costumes, she was one tired girl!

Hadley was also recognized for five years dancing at her studio.

We snapped a few pics after the first recital before grabbing a bite to eat. Then, my mom and I stayed for the second recital. We were all very proud of her.

Monday I had a busy day at school, Hayden played a round of golf with friends, and Hadley was at the pool for most of the day.

My mom continued her visit and watched the kids while Travis and I took a little trip.

We spent a few days at Julep Farms in Dillard, Georgia. I’m sure I will write a whole post about it, but it was a lovely getaway.

We stayed in the Magnolia cottage…

…which had the loveliest views.

Wednesday night, we even had dinner on the property.

Since we were dressed up a bit, we did a selfie using the timer on my phone. I sure missed having Hadley to take our photos…she always gets the high angle…haha

This one turned out pretty good!

Favorite Outfit:

I think I shared this SSYS dress when I got it in the spring, but this summer I’ve used it as a swim cover-up a couple of times, but then wore it to my brother’s birthday party on Saturday. I also got this belt bag recently…I wanted one that was a little bigger than my Lulu one, and this one is perfect.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Haha…I shared a similar meme last week…but this one also made me laugh.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

My sister-in-law had these cups made for my brother’s birthday party last Saturday…This “throwback” pic is too funny…

Weekly Recap

I only had a couple of posts this week, but they were fun link ups!

What are your weekend plans? Today, I’m playing catch up from being gone for a couple of days…and I need to prep a bit for the summer school sessions I’m running the next couple of weeks.

Of course, on Sunday, we’ll celebrate Travis for Father’s Day. My dad received his gift yesterday and is probably using it while watching the US Open.

Thanks so much for reading,

Friday Favorites {#161}

Hello and happy Friday.

Why do the summer weeks already feel like they are flying by? Probably because these first couple of weeks of summer have been busy.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

At the end of last week, Travis and Hayden traveled to St. Louis for a race that Hoka put on. Hayden ran in the middle school mile, and ran a great race. The winner of the middle school race that Hayden was in ran 4:22! There were some of the best runners in the nation there, and it was good for Hayden to end his outdoor season on a “high” note.

I think Travis and Hayden were most excited about watching the professional races, and then Hayden got autographs and met some runners that he follows on social media.

It was a good “guys” trip, and I was glad to see Hayden smiling.

Last weekend was busy around Lexington/UK with the Railbird festival along with high school state track meet, and Kentucky was hosting the Super Regional for baseball.

On Saturday, Travis and the kids went to the high school state track meet. Hayden wanted to see the mile, and Hadley wanted to see the 400m race.

Then, Hayden went with friends to the UK baseball game Saturday night. Then a group of them went to both Sunday games with a trip to the pool in between. After the loss Saturday night, UK won both games on Sunday and then on Monday night too. Travis and Hayden went to the Monday night game.

On Sunday, Hadley had pool time with her friends and then went to the UK volleyball serving camp on Tuesday. They all had lots of fun as well.

I finished another Bodi program…Sweat and Sculpt. This was one of my favorites that I’ve completed in a while. I’ve mentioned it before that it’s probably not one that I would do in a class, but I loved being able to do these workouts in the comfort of my basement.

I have a couple of Trader Joe’s favorites from the week. This candle and body wash both smell so good. I’m bummed that I missed out on the body butter. I think my store put out what they had, and it was gone by the time I got to it.

These Peanut Butter Crispy Rice Bites are a sweet little treat. I’ve shared this recipe before, and they remind me of those….without the butterscotch flavor.

The weather has been really great this week. I’ve eaten most of my lunches on the patio, and we’ve eaten a few dinners out there too.

Hadley and Homer had patio time as well. she was listening to some music and said they were having their own “mini Railbird” festival. haha

Speaking of Homer, his 4th “gotcha” day was yesterday. So, of course, he got a scoop of ice cream and a picture in his birthday bandana.

Hadley had recital pics yesterday, and of course her least favorite costume is my favorite.

Favorite clothing item:

We had a little bit of pool time this week, so I was able to wear my new favorite cover up from Shop Style Your Senses.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Bahaha…this one made me laugh and is very relatable.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

Since we are celebrating our “Homerversary,” I’ve always loved this pic of him with the kids in 2019 after we first got him.

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

Not Just a Mom

On Monday, we have our monthly Not Just a Mom link up.

We’d love for you to link up with us. I can’t wait to read everyone’s posts about how they became a mom.

What are your weekend plans? We have some family things going on and Hadley’s dance recital….but first ortho/dentist appointments for the kids this morning. Why do I always think early morning appointments are a good idea when I schedule them?

I hope you have a great weekend.

Hello and happy Friday!

How as your week? We had a good one even though it’s been a busy start to summer.

I’m linking up with Erika and Andrea for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Last Friday was the last day of school, and we went to our neighbors/friends’ house to grill out and catch up. One set of neighbors moved a couple of years ago, so we don’t see them often. Also, all of these kids go to different schools, so it’s nice when we all get together.

The moms really wanted the kids to recreate this pic from 2020…

I’m not sure why we do this to ourselves. haha

They are all so grown!

The moms got a pic too.

We spent all of Saturday at the middle school state track meet in Louisville. It was an overcast day, but pretty good running weather.

Hadley ran in three relays and had a PR in the 400. Hayden ran in the 1600 and 800. He was frustrated with is performance, but of course, we were proud of his effort.

On Monday, we went to the pool for a bit. One of my friends brought Racko which is a fun game. It was nice to feel like we were in “summer mode.”

On Tuesday, we went out to dinner with my brother’s family for Layla’s birthday. This girl loves unicorns and rainbows like no other. We can’t believe she’s 6!

I’ve been able to spend a couple of mornings on the back patio which is one of my favorite ways to start a summer morning.

I love going to graduation. Listen, there are some days I walk the hall shaking my head at some of the things I hear or see…haha

That being said, it is always so amazing to me to see over 500 seniors come together all dressed up to cross the stage and receive their diploma. It reminds me that the future it bright.

Another amazing thing — graduation only lasts an hour…even with a few speeches, a couple of musical performances and that many graduates.

I loved my graduation “fit.” Avara is one of my favorite online shops to buy dresses. They had the “Marissa” dress in pink, blue, and navy, but it looks like navy is all that’s in stock. I picked up these wedges on sale at Old Navy. They seem pretty comfy.

No pics but this week, the kids have already been busy. Hayden and friends played a round of golf on Tuesday, and he also went my school’s basketball camp. Hadley has been to the pool and UK volleyball camp.

While both kids were busy yesterday, I spent a couple of hours at the pool. It was my first pool reading time of the season.

Favorite Mom Meme:

They see me fold laundry, put dishes in the dishwasher, and put away Cheezit boxes…haha

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

What are your weekend plans? Well, today is the first day of summer that I don’t have to set an alarm. Then, we actually don’t have too much going on. We really do need to do a few early summer things like clean out backpacks, go through clothes to make a donate pile and run some errands I’ve been putting off.

The weather looks to already be in the 90’s! ugh.

I hope you are able to stay cool this weekend.

Friday Favorites {#159}

Hello and happy Friday.

It’s the best kind of Friday…it’s the last Friday of the school year!

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

One of Hadley’s friends had a party for her 13th birthday last Saturday. The girls had Chipolte for dinner in the backyard. They showed up dressed up, and then changed clothes after dinner to run around for a scavenger hunt. They had such a great time!

Seeing Hadley (and friends) all dressed up had me thinking about this meme:

When people tell me how much Hadley looks like me, my first thought is that I was never that pretty…especially at 13!!

Saturday night while Hadley was at the party, Travis and I watched Air with Hayden. It was so good! Travis and I especially loved the soundtrack!

Sunday was Youth Sunday at church. Hayden was an usher and passed out the bulletins while Hadley helped with the offering.

It’s such a great group of kids, and it was a wonderful service.

On Sunday, Travis and Hadley went and picked up some flowers for the front porch as well as two hanging ferns. The ferns are usually my Mother’s Day gift.

I had the honor of being in Hadley’s daily BeReal post this week.

Hayden brought home one of his art pieces from the year. It’s the track/stadium at University of Oregon . It’s hard to tell from the pics, but he was quite detailed with seats in the stadium and the track.

Travis asked him if it was an ashtray….I thought it was better than that!

Favorite Foods:

Last week, our friends/neighbors invited us over to make pizzas and use their pizza oven. I made a BBQ chicken one, and it was so good.

On Saturday, Travis talked me in to going out for a biscuit brunch. It did hit the spot on a dreary and rainy morning.

Favorite Kid Quote:

For Sunday dessert, I made strawberry shortcake trifles…

Hadley took one bite and said, “Okkk, Betty Kroger!” 😆 Kroger is our grocery store! Close enough. I will take the compliment.

Favorite Mom Meme:

I like to think that I have a 50/50 shot that someone will like me most days…

Flashback Friday:

Many cute memories popped up this week.

2013 — little Hayden lining up his cars. He used to do this for hours when he was little.

Also from 2013—Hadley’s cute little smile. I remember how cute that pink shirt was on her.

2010- the first time Hayden tried cereal…bahaha

Weekly Recap:

This week, I shared funny memes, talked about work/home balance, shared a Three Things post as well as a Monthly Musings post.

What are your weekend plans? Like I shared in yesterday’s post, we’ll hang with friends tonight, go to the state track meet tomorrow, and then hopefully just hang out and/or hit the pool the rest of the weekend.

I should have a bonus post (Share 4 Somethings) tomorrow.

Thanks for reading,

Friday Favorites {#158}

Hello and happy Friday!

Seriously, TGIF! This was a shorter week for us, but sometimes those feel like the longest! At my school, we’ve had testing the past couple of days, and I feel like that ages me every year! haha

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Hadley had her last dance competition of the season last weekend, and the competition fee included more professional photos. I love her lyrical dance so much, and we’ve been able to get so many good photos over the past couple of weekends.

Of course, Mother’s Day was a favorite. Even though it was a hectic day, it was still a good one. My Mother’s Day flowers are still going strong, and I’m counting down the days until I can use my massage gift card.

Monday night, Hadley went to school with Travis because it was an open house for 5th graders to learn about the school, clubs, and athletics. So, Travis was there for cross country, and Hadley helped the 5th grade groups.

Anyway, afterwards, Hadley went to a friend’s house, and after I dropped her off, I decided to swing by Dairy Queen for a blizzard. Travis and Hayden got Cookies & Cream, and I tried a summer flavor: Peanut Butter Puppy Chow. It didn’t disappoint.

Of course, a favorite is a random Tuesday off from school. It was a dreary rainy day, but I was able to do quite a few things at home. Also, Hayden still wasn’t feeling well (this has been on again/off again for two weeks), so I took him to the dr. (again). He had an ear and sinus infection. Obviously, that’s not a favorite, but I’m glad he has a Z-pack now. Also, I made time to vote.

I popped into Trader Joe’s for a couple of things, and saw their seasonal candle: Peony Blossom. The tin is even rose gold, so of course I snagged two of them!

I got this set of Target pjs last summer in pink, and I was excited to see they still have them in a few different colors. They are seriously the best! The shorts are true to size for me, and I bought a large in the top too, but it’s more oversized. My Target had a couple of colors in store, but there seem to be more colors available online.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Usually my “mom memes” are funny…but I was scrolling the ‘Gram and saw this one.

It’s such a good reminder. These teen years are only getting started…but the time is also flying by. I really don’t want to look back and think all I did was nag them rather than enjoy my time with them.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

Apparently, the kids had their 5th grade graduation on May 18, 2021. While I can’t believe how much older they look now, I’m also jealous that school was out that early that year! haha

Weekly Recap:

Well, I started off slowly this week with no post on Monday, but rallied with posts for the rest of the week.

What are your weekend plans? I can honestly say we don’t have much going on…and I’m here for it!

This time next week, I will be able to say hello summer! Well, I will still have one teacher work day, but the kids will be able to say “Peace out 7th grade!”

Hello and happy Friday!

How was your week? Ours was pretty good. The week started off less busy than how it ended, but it was nice to have a couple of free evenings. We only have two weeks left of school, and thankfully, starting next week, we’ll start having more downtime in the evenings.

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Going all the way back to last Friday, one of my favorites was going to the Kentucky Oaks. It was such a beautiful day, and we had a great time.

Friday night, I was asleep by 10ish, and wide awake Saturday morning around 5. I decided to turn on King Charles’ coronation. I watched most of it but fell back to sleep around 8. I woke up at 11:30! Honestly, that threw my whole day off waking up that late, but I really needed the extra rest (obviously).

This made me LOL…

Hadley had a dance competition last week. The one they were supposed to attend in March was postponed due to the storms we had and no electricity. So, these girls hadn’t been on stage in a while, but they did awesome!

It’s so fun to watch the large and small groups perform.

The lyrical small group dance that Hadley is in earned a Judges’ Choice for best emotion, and Hadley accepted the award on stage.

Y’all know I’m pretty good about taking photos, but that’s too hard to do during her dance performances. I’d rather focus on watching her dance, and the quality of photos wouldn’t be great anyway…so I loved that this competition had the option to buy a photo package. There were so many amazing photos!

I started a new workout program this week. Another reason I love Bodi (Beachbody) is because I get to try programs that I don’t think I’d do outside of my own home.

This one has a bit of dancing, core, weights, and also some aspects that feel like Pure Barre.

The dancing combos would especially not be something I would do in public …but would certainly do in my own basement. (I do not have Hadley’s rhythm and grace!)

These workouts have been a good change in my routine.

Last Friday, when Travis and I were at the Oaks, the kids went with my brother and sister-in-law to watch Wyatt’s game. Hayden missed out the last time we went, so I’m sure Wyatt has excited to have both of his cousins there to cheer him on.

Track season is wrapping up, and can you tell that I don’t say “no” to a digital download! Hadley said the “action” shots were awkward…I think she’d prefer to smile. 😁

Favorite Kid Quote:

Hadley snagged this Olaf at a friend’s garage sale. She’s been calling him “her guy” 😆 How lucky is Olaf to get Hadley hugs?!

Favorite Clothing Item:

Sarah shared this Walmart dress recently (It’s less than $18!). I don’t go to Walmart often, but we were there a couple of weeks ago, and there was one in stock. I didn’t try it on until I got home, so I might have been able to do a medium, but the large is what they had.

On Monday, I wore it to school with one of my favorite cardigans.

The current state of our house right now…

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

I probably share this every year, but here’s a throw back to my first Mother’s Day in 2010.

Weekly Recap:

I had a busy week of posting:

What are your weekend plans? Y’all, this one will be a doozy. We have a track meet tonight followed by a weekend of Hadley’s last dance competition of the season.

Thanks so much for reading.

Friday Favorites {#156}

Hello and happy Friday…and happy Cinco de Mayo!

How has your week been? Overall, we’ve had a good one. It’s been busy per usual, but productive as well.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

The kids had some awesome track meets this past week.

Friday night’s invitational was the best. We were very thankful there was no rain. The Friday before that, we sat in a torrential downpour for most of the meet. So, even though Friday night was still pretty cold, we were glad to be dry!

Hayden’s first big race Friday night was the mile. I’ve mentioned before that he had the goal to run a sub 5 mile….and he did it! (See below…4:59). I will cheer for them, but it takes a lot for me to jump up and get super crazy…well, I did when I saw the time on the clock! He also now holds the school record in the mile.

Then, it was Hadley’s turn. She’s been wanting to qualify for state in the 400. She’s been close, and Friday night she did it! The time she needed was 1:07.2, and she ran 1:07.03!!

Hayden didn’t run the 400 because he was still recovering from the mile. That being said, he ran the 800, and ended up qualifying for state in it!

They were so happy after their races on Friday night! My mom got these pics of them after the mile and 400.

Monday night, Hayden ran the two mile, and had a state qualifying time as well.

The kids are also on 4×800 relays, and Hadley usually runs the 4×100 and/or the 4×400. Hayden sometimes runs that one too. Anyway, those are fun to watch as well!

Both of them have had relays qualify for state too. At state, I don’t know if they will run everything, but it’s been fun seeing them achieve their goals!

On Saturday morning, we went to my nephew’s baseball game. He’s such a cute 1st baseman! I love that he’s using Hayden’s old baseball bag. Too sweet.

Saturday night, just Hadley and I were at home. She suggested Taco Tico for dinner, so we went there after some errands. Fun fact about Taco Tico: you can get a margarita to go. I can confirm that the watermelon marg is great!

Since my mom was in town, we celebrated her birthday a bit early with dinner at my brother’s house on Sunday. We brought dessert. Hadley made these Peanut Butter Blossom Bars, and they were a hit.

My mom was able to watch their track meets on Friday and Monday, so that was great as well.

On Monday, I went on a field trip with some classes. The Criminal Justice classes needed an extra chaperone on their tour of Eastern Kentucky University. We even saw the library. You know that made me happy.

Hadley brought home some artwork, and I love it…

How cute is my new purse strap? I picked it up at Joseph Beth when I was getting my mom a gift card.

Favorite Kid Quote:

Hayden wasn’t feeling well on Wednesday. Hadley thought Hayden was “faking” until a friend confirmed that he had his head down in class, so the teacher sent him to the nurse. When I asked Hayden what the nurse did for him, he said she had him gargle salt water and gave him some ice.

Hadley said not much happens when you get sent to the nurse. She said, “Mom, she literally just gives you a mint or ice for anything that’s wrong.” 😆

Favorite Mom Meme:

I’m telling ya what…I have to start my day with some quiet time.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

This Facebook memory popped up this week. My mom took this pic in April 2013, and it’s so cute.

The kids still eat “pot hearts” for breakfast, but they do call them Pop-tarts now.

Weekly Recap:

I had quite the mix of posts this week:

Not Just a Mom

Monday is our monthly Not Just a Mom link up. This month’s topic is: pet peeves

We’d love for you to join us!

What are your weekend plans? I’m headed to the Oaks horse race with Travis today. Tomorrow is the Derby, and we don’t have any big plans. Sunday, Hadley has a dance competition that will keep us busy!

I hope you have a great weekend.
