Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend full of remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for our freedoms.
In Kentucky, we were able to start getting back to a bit of “normalcy” this weekend. Restaurants can open up to 33% capacity, non-essential businesses are opening, and small gatherings (while maintaining social distancing) are now allowed. We’re still easing into this phase, but it’s nice to see us moving in a forward direction. I certainly hope it’s not two steps forward, three steps back.
Usually I share memes on Mondays, but decided to take a little break yesterday. The end of the school year definitely still takes its toll on me even from a distance!
But here are a few memes that made me laugh this month!
I’m a high-maintenance sleeper. Sound machine, dark, cool room, a weighted blanket, and my favorite pillow. Travis doesn’t need “all the things” to sleep like I do! That being said, I can nap like nobody’s business.
I love this meme, and it is my truth! Let’s just say I don’t necessarily have a happy go lucky personality. I’m more matter of fact and sarcastic!
This meme always makes me laugh…and I’ve always felt this way about group texts. I mean I love group texts if they are for the whole group…but I will be the first to send a text to just one friend or family member if it doesn’t need go to everyone. Sometimes, group texts overwhelm me. I joke that Hadley doesn’t know texting etiquette just yet with her Ipod…she will hold you hostage in a group text for the rest of your life!
I do make a point to shower every day, but when the kids were little, sleep would definitely win over showering if need be!
Only a few more days of working from home!! #praisehands
Of course, I’ve seen this meme over the past several weeks, and I’m sure everyone else has too! Thankfully, 1 and 2 are opening back up…but obviously, I need to keep working on #3.
Right?! 2020 needs to come correct with a do-over.
Alright, one more math joke from the mom who struggles with math before distance learning wraps up tomorrow!
Just a few funnies for the month of May! I hope to keep up with my daily posting, but I may just have to take this week day by day! Have a great week!
Hello! How is it already Monday? How was your weekend? I think I feel like this weekend went fast because we were pretty busy. After wrapping up school on Friday, Travis and I started working on our master bedroom refresh…Wall pops wallpaper, fresh paint and some new bedding. Real Talk: he (and Hadley!) did the painting. I’m really good at overthinking which shade of gray comforter will best match the quilt I picked out for the bed! More details on that refresh later when it’s 100% complete.
I can’t believe we are five weeks (I think?!) into social distancing/staying at home/distance learning… Memes give me life while scrolling through social media as well as a chuckle or two. So…I thought I’d share some of my faves.
That being said, I upload funny memes to my post as the month goes on. I sat down yesterday to see what I’ve added to his post throughout this month…and, you guessed it….they are all social distancing/staying at home/distance learning themed.
I hope that’s ok. I guess in a few years, I will look back on this post, and it will be a time capsule of thoughts and feelings for April 2020.
Netflix: I’m almost halfway finished with season 3 of The Crown. That means in the past few weeks I’ve watched all of season 2 and started season 3. I’m getting used to the new cast. I really like the new (older) Philip. Travis and I also started watching The Stranger and the first two episodes intrigued me. Also, we finished Tiger King last week (and truly binge watched it–which is unlike us….finishing all the episodes in a matter of days). I have no words. Speechless. Up next, I’m know Travis is dying to watch Ozark season 3.
Any other Netflix suggestions? Let me know. 🙂
Y’all, I thought Target was closed. You know back when they closed Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx (tear!), HomeGoods (sob!), etc…Well, I thought Target was closed too! For like a whole month…that’s what I thought…until I saw someone post about what they’d picked up at our local Target. Anyway, I’d been on the hunt for some new bedding (and a few other essentials from Target), so I did venture to Target on Saturday. I kept my (social) distance and thanks to Chip and Jo, I found what I needed and got out ASAP! I got my Target fix for now…but back to staying put at home.
Not only do I talk to myself (as well as walk into a room and not remember why…), I now tell myself inside jokes 😉
We still haven’t heard if we will be returning to school this year or not. I’m afraid the writing is on the wall…so there may not be a car line of parents in May, but come August, people will be lined up in the dark at drop off!
I honestly was just starting to think about Mother’s Day and just the month of May, in general. Both my parents have May birthdays, so I was thinking about what I could buy online, etc…and then I saw this meme! Made me laugh.
I saw this on my friend Lauren’s Instagram stories, and I about spit my drink out with laughter! 😂I’ve been on a few Zoom calls with school (and one with my friends this weekend!) and actually those Zoom calls haven’t been boring!
And, a final thought…on a more serious note… I’ve said it before, but now that we are settled in this routine, I know my family will look back on this time and treasure it. I know we don’t have it rough for one second. I’m a homebody, so it’s not a stretch for me to want to be at home anyway. (But…I can’t wait for the day when I don’t feel like I need to take a shower after running an errand!)…but again, we are safe and sound, have food in our fridge, technology to keep up with school and family, and most importantly have our health.
Honestly, my mind drifts to students who are home in an environment that is unstable with various stresses and worries. There are so many kids who want to be at school because those are the best seven hours in their day. It’s where they get a decent meal, where they have someone who encourages them and lifts them up, and where they can put their worries aside for a bit of time.
I hope you have a great week. Week 3 of distance learning…Here. We. Come.
Happy Monday! How was your weekend?? Thankfully, the weather was beautiful, so we could get out in the fresh air! I’ve taken the time to go for a daily walk, the kids have played outside, and Travis did some yard work.
Well, today is the day we were to hop on a plane for NYC. Sigh. But…lots of us had to put our plans on hold, and obviously it’s the least we can do in order to stay healthy and do our part in knocking out this pandemic.
So, after today’s meme post, I wasn’t going to post the rest of the week since we’d be out of town..but now, I think I will just keep chugging along with blog posts this week.
Because we all need a laugh or two, I thought I’d share some funny memes.
Yep. Don’t know how to play chess. And don’t know how to navigate this “new normal.”
The rearrangement of the grocery story meme takes on all new meaning with people and their “shop til they drop” attitude. On a bright note, I did spot about ten packages of toilet paper at Kroger yesterday. That’s the most TP I’ve seen on the shelves in a month.
To be honest, I’ve always been the type to turn down the radio…for any reason. haha
This one made me laugh out loud. I’m wondering how many relationships are being tested these days 😉
Truth! Also, I’ve been having the craziest dreams lately—and remembering them. The dreams aren’t scary (or I guess they’d be called nightmares!), but just the most random stuff…like being in line to play golf at a golf course….and also having dinner with Queen Elizabeth!
This one is how I felt last Friday. This week is technically Spring Break, but I’m sure we will keep up with 30 minutes of math and 30 minutes of reading each day. It’s the least the kids can do!
Well, that’s it for this month’s memes! I hope you have a great week.
Happy Monday! There is seriously nothing better than a 3 day weekend (and no school on a Monday!) I’m combining two posts into one and sharing some funny memes and a few details from our Valentine’s Day.
Fact. I hate to clean. (I don’t mind to tidy up). Fact. I love a good glass of wine! 😉
This literally made me laugh out loud. I love my weighted blanket more than I probably should. I seriously miss it if I’m away from home and don’t have it.
FYI I have this 15 lb blanket in taupe from Blanquil. (When I bought mine, it was close to $120…I used a code to get the discount)
I feel like I need at least three of me to get everyone where they need to be as well as get all the chores and errands accomplished…and I even have a very helpful husband!
I saw this meme on Facebook. Rang true with me! haha
Ok, for me not being a huge fan of Valetine’s Day, it may appear that I go all out for this Hallmark holiday. Travis and I have always been no gifts, give each other cards and try to go out to dinner…and that’s been our tradition for a long time. I guess once I had the kids, I stepped up my Valentine’s Day game, but I just pick them up a few things here and there in the couple weeks leading up to February 14th. That being said, I still usually follow the something they need, something to read, something they want + chocolate!
Each kid received a book, and some winter weather gear (gloves and ear muffs (Hadley))—because Target had everything on clearance…, a game (Hayden received a Mad Libs game that we played over the weekend–lots of fun (and great grammar practice!) and Hadley received a puzzle that we will do as a family). Lastly, Hadley needed new volleyball shorts and Hayden requested a video game. I ordered a Valentine’s Day plate/napkin set on Amazon and served them powdered donut holes for breakfast (w/ some strawberries), and they were excited.
I did break my “no gift” rule for Travis and bought him a new wallet…since his old one has been #homered. Found out yesterday that wallet #2 has already been #homered as well.
When the kids were little, I started taking their pic and ordering 10 cards on Shutterfly to send family. It’s an easy and cost effective way to spread the love…as well as one stop shopping.
I always look forward to the bubble letters Travis writes on my cards. #eighteenyearsandcounting #bubblelettersaremanly
In all honesty, we usually don’t do much for dinner on Valentine’s Day because someone usually has a practice or somewhere to be. Since Valentine’s Day fell on a Friday this year, leading up to a three day weekend….AND we had no plans!, I decided to decorate a bit for dinner. The paper hearts and straws also came from Amazon, but the other decorations I already had around the house. (I plan to save the extra plates, napkins, hearts, etc to use next year if needed!)
Travis did decide to pick up steaks on his way home…and we already had Bob Evans mashed potatoes (Hadley’s fave!) in the fridge and cheesy broccoli in the freezer…So steaks were a “fancy” element to our dinner (and Trav’s fave) and the potatoes and broccoli were easy element to heat in the microwave.
In 2008, Travis and I went to Napa Valley with some friends. One of our favorite vineyards was a small vineyard someone recommended while we were out there. So, it was an unplanned pit stop to Anomaly. We love their wine. We brought a few bottles home and saved them for special occasions. In December of 2009, after Hadley arrived home from the NICU, we opened one of the bottles. Then, we took a bottle with us to Charleston, SC when we celebrated our five year wedding anniversary in June 2010. The last bottle we actually took with us to Lake Tahoe in the fall of 2015 when we celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary. Y’all know I love my wine, so the fact we hung on to those for so many years (and even when we moved houses) is a big deal 😉 That being said, the wine isn’t cheap, but it’s so worth it…& perfect for special occasions.
We loved the Anomaly experience and scenery so much that Travis took one of the pics I took while we were there and had a family friend paint the picture as a gift for me; it now hangs in our living room.
Some friends recently gifted us another bottle as a thank you, and I was going to open it for my 40th birthday, but as I’ve mentioned, I came down with the flu. We decided to share that bottle Friday night–and I joked we could celebrate my 40th, the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day.
After dinner we played the new Mad Lib game…we had a great time and everyone was in bed by 9:30!
Besides basketball games, Travis and Hadley went to the Dad/Daughter Dance on Saturday night and then yesterday we went tubing at Perfect North with friends. (I will probably post about both of those fun activities later this week 😀)
I hope you had a great weekend. The sun finally came out and it looks like the temps are on the rise again! It almost makes me wish it was spring…but I’d love at least one more pretty snow (and snow day!) before everything starts to bloom.
It’s already Monday…and a five day work week…BUT winter break is right around the corner. I thought I’d keep it simple on this Monday and share my monthly memes that make me laugh out loud.
Like most everyone, I’m juggling all the things–school, science projects (ugh!), holiday parties, school parties, Christmas cards, grocery shopping, kids’ activities, Christmas shopping, etc (with the help of Travis), but I still feel like this is me…
I still cherish my “me” time in the morning. I get up 45 minutes before the rest of the crew to have some quiet time. Now, I enjoy my coffee with the lights of the Christmas tree which makes getting up a little easier. Peace. Quiet. Coffee. Repeat.
Holiday humor 😂
I’ve seen this meme a few times and it always makes me laugh! To be honest, Travis is as helpful as I need him to be. He knows I like making a list, getting a plan, making sure each kid has the same amount of presents, etc…but he really will wait for what I may need help with like picking up gifts here and there. Also, he’s usually in charge of getting the best deals on the bigger items. Even with all his help, the meme still cracks me up.
I saw this meme last year, and, again, laughed out loud!
No offense to anyone named Susan 😉 I’m definitely living day to day at this point.
I’ve always loved this cartoon. So funny.
That’s it for this Monday’s post! I hope you have a great week! #survivalmode
Happy Monday! Whew…we had a hectic weekend (I feel like this is a trend), but it was a fun weekend filled with two (a bit early) birthday parties for Hayden and Hadley (one for friends and one for family…because that’s how I roll!) as well as a Girl Scout field trip.
So, I’m keeping today’s post short and sweet with some of my favorite memes.
This first meme is “so me!”…but I roll lots of what they “need” into birthday gifts as well.
This second meme is also very much me…I’m all about staying home and bonus if I don’t have to get out of my pjs.
This is how I feel every time I go to TJ Maxx, Target, and Home Goods.
This one just made me laugh…and it’s certainly how I feel when I ask my kids to take a shower or go to bed! Thankfully, I didn’t feel that way when we had 12 kids spending the next last Friday.
I loved this graphic about introverts. Sometimes I think introverts are misunderstood…myself included. Also, I think it’s important for those who have an introvert in their life to love, that they understand things introverts love.
With such a hectic weekend, I wish the next meme could be me today, but I need to get caught up on all the things. I’ve penciled in next Sunday for this meme to apply to me. haha
After a busy weekend and rolling into another busy week, I thought I’d keep today’s post short, sweet, and funny. I live for memes!
It’s finally feeling like fall, and this meme literally makes me laugh out loud…because it’s true!
Kids’ activities…am I right? Thankfully, my kids aren’t too wishy washy on what they want to participate in, but I feel like there’s always some kind of sign up sheet for something…
I always have big dreams of healthy eating on Sunday when I place my Click List order, but by Thursday, I’m reminding my kids to open the fridge for a snack or two rather than binging on Pringles.
There isn’t a chore I hate more than doing laundry. I’m really good about starting it, really bad at leaving it sit in the dryer for days, and even worse about putting it away. I do find that it’s easier to wash all of Hadley’s clothes in a load, all of Hayden’s in another, and then do Travis and my clothes later. The kids tend to have a full load to wash each week…especially Hadley…girlfriend, changes her clothes a few times a day. #killingmeslowly I usually get away with doing my laundry every other week or so. Once the kids started coming home with a sitter after school (rather than stay at the after school program), they now have more chores…one of which is to put away and hang up their clothes…which tends to be a Tuesday chore. I think they probably listen to the sitter better than they listen to us, so I appreciate that she handles this chore on Tuesdays.
Me. Always. Forever. Amen.
With a very hectic week of school for me last week, on top of a busy Saturday with state cross country meet, and Hayden’s soccer game, Travis and I almost didn’t cash in on having a free sitter (my mom was in town) for Saturday night dinner out…but we did. That being said, everyone in my house was in bed by 9:00 on Saturday, and I spent Sunday trying to get my life together and get organized for the week. If you are keeping track, I still don’t have my life together (haha), but at least I always feel better starting the week with a solid plan.
One more funny…
The kids took a government test in class…both received a good grade, but I had to laugh at Hayden’s test…The correct answer was all of the above , and, well, Hayden did circle all of the above. 😂
If writing memes could be a job, I feel like I could be a millionaire…especially the sarcastic memes (#sarcasmisagift)
Mondays can be difficult, so I thought I’d start the week off with a laugh or two 😂
Poor Travis. This first meme is definitely me. #notamorningperson I wake up 45 minutes before the rest of the household to get my “me time” in and start my day off right…& I still don’t really want to talk to anyone when it’s time to wake the crew.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times…I’d rather hang out with my dog than hang out with most people…Just saying …dogs love you unconditionally, they don’t judge you, and they just want to snuggle.
If I don’t know you are coming over, I’m probably not answering the door. Safety first combined with the fact that if I’m home for more than 30 minutes, I’m probably in my robe.
English teacher humor. 😂
1. About the only science I actually know. 2. Why are my kids hungry all of the time?
I want to decorate for autumn so badly, but I’m going to need Mother Nature to drop the temp about 20 degrees, please.
Not a meme, but Hayden found this card at Kroger, and I literally laughed out loud!
