Friday Favorites {#117}

Hello and Happy Friday!

I have a full posts of favorites so I’m going to hop right in to the link up with Andrea and Erika.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Favorite Activities:

Hadley’s dance recitals were a highlight of the week for sure!

Hayden is playing summer basketball, and he had a couple of games this week. The summer league is super low key which is nice.

Hadley had another swim meet this week. The butterfly stroke is one that she’s been working on, and she finally got to swim it in the meet on Wednesday night.

She swam in two relays and then all four strokes, so she was a busy girl! The heat index was over 100 during the meet. I was about to jump in and join a relay!

Last Saturday, Hayden went to run on the track for his workout and took a detour at football camp. He saw Will Levis (QB for UK), and got his photo taken with him. He was so excited.

Favorite Summer Scents:

I really need to quit buying candles, but I couldn’t pass up the $11.95 sale on three wick candles at Bath and Body Works.

I specifically went into the store for the Champagne Toast and Fresh Orange candle. I love both of those scents, so I knew this would be a good one combined…and it is.

While I was there, I also picked up the peony candle and put it next to my Trader Joe’s peonies. (Tell me it’s summer without telling me it’s summer!)

I change out my garden flags pretty regularly, but I didn’t have one that was summery. This one arrived earlier in the week and is perfect for summer.

I got this dress last year and have worn in a ton.

I decided to wear it to Hadley’s recital with my new braided sandals.

Also, the dress is one I turn to time and time again. I’m actually thinking about ordering the pink or sleeveless version of it before vacay!

You all know that I share my Amazon purchases once a month, but I could’t wait to share these sandals. I wore them to her afternoon recital with white jeans and then again for the evening recital with the dress. After the recital, I was on my feet for a couple more hours at my friend’s birthday party, and they were so comfortable on my feet.

I originally ordered my regular size 9, but when they arrived, they fit…barely. My heel was right at the edge, so I thought I’d compare with a 9.5. That size wasn’t available anytime soon, so I tried the 9.5 wide. I don’t have a wide foot, but these fit perfectly…much better than the 9.

Since I couldn’t love these sandals more, I decided to go ahead and share now rather than wait for my July Prime Purchases post.

Other Faves:

My niece Layla turned five at the end of May, and was overdue for a birthday gift from us. On Monday, we hit the mall (along with Hadley, my mom, and my sister-in-law) for a quick lunch and then we stopped in the Plush Shop for her to pick out a gift. She came home with “Princess Owlette” (Also, don’t you love her princess necklace?)

On the way out, we picked up cookies for everyone at Great American Cookie as one more birthday treat.

Later that night, I got this photo at bedtime which I thought was really sweet.

My mom came to visit and was able to see both Hadley and Layla’s recitals as well as one of Hayden’s basketball games.

Last Sunday, my brother’s family and my mom joined us at Boonedogs for a late lunch. The food was good and the weather was really nice. The kids were able to run around for a bit too.

I got the Greek dog –with cucumbers, feta, sun dried tomato, garlic lemon sauce and fried capers. So good!

Last Friday, I shared some new fave Target pjs, but I also picked up this set. I’ve worn them almost every night, and a shameless amount of time during the day. The pink color is very summery, and the material is so soft. I did size down in this set.

Throw on some flip flops, and I feel like I could leave the house in these. 😆

Friday Favorites {#116}

Hello and Happy Friday.

We had a good but busy summer week. Personally, it was nice to not get up and think about school, but I still had to set an alarm every morning due to Hadley’s activities.

Also, I’ve felt “off” all week. I guess it’s a summer cold, and Hadley has been dealing with congestion too. On top of having a sore throat and drainage, I was tired and sometimes achy. I did test neg for the Vid, so who knows! Maybe the hustle and bustle of the end of the school year caught up with me.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I mentioned in Tuesday’s post that what was supposed to be a couple of hours at the pool Sunday turned into many hours at the pool and a Pina Colada with Trav.

Hadley has decided she wants to play volleyball again, so we signed her up for a camp this week with a friend. That meant 9-12 camp four days this week!

Hayden left on Monday to go to the lake with a friend, so I had lots of Hadley time this week.

After camp on Monday, we hit the mall for a few things and lunch in the food court. What is it about kids and the food court?! It seemed like a treat to her. haha

She has had dance recital practice three nights this week with the recital this weekend. It’s nice that she’s old enough to handle costume changes, but I definitely sweep in at the end to make sure she has everything!

Wednesday night’s recital practice included Hadley (and her friend) helping cousin Layla’s tap class up on stage. Super cute group of little ladies.

While at the lake, Hayden had so much fun with two of his friends. With limited WiFi, they had all kinds of good old fashioned fun. They swam, ran around, went in the kayaks and fished.

Hayden was so excited to catch a few fish (a first for him) including this large mouth bass.

On Wednesday, we celebrated our 3 year Homer-versary! Since we don’t know his actual birthday, we celebrate him on his “Gotcha Day,” and he obliges for a few photos in his birthday scarf thanks to a few treats!

He’s calmed down since we got him and is overall a pretty good boy (even though he destroyed a roll of toilet paper this week!)

Travis and I finally finished Season 4 of Ozark. I love me some Jason Bateman, but man, that show is intense! I wish it ended a bit differently, but I’m glad we finished the series. Now Travis and I need to find something else to watch together. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

Favorite Clothing Item:

Is anyone shocked that my favorite clothing item is a new pair of pjs?

I bought these a couple of weeks ago when both the top and the bottom were each on sale for $8. I’d pay full price for them though! They are cute and light-weight…perfect for summer!

I actually have this pair ready for pick up too. I will let you know how they are once I get them.

Friday Favorites {#115}

Hello and Happy Friday! This week was a good one, but it was a doozy! I was busy most of the week coordinating summer school while still also managing my kids’ busy social lives and schedules. I relied heavily on my mom friends, and I’m grateful for them!

Today, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are my favorites from the week:

On my weekly Trader Joe’s run, I saw this candle when I checked out. I picked one up. The Mango Tangerine scent is perfect for summer.

The studio dance photos came in this week, and they are so great!

Then, the moms split the cost on some of the group photos. This is such a great group of girls.

Swim team started this week for Hadley. She had her first swim meet on Wednesday night. This is her second year in the 11-12 age group, and she’s happy to be on the older end of the age group!

She definitely found her stride (stroke?! 😆) with each race on Wednesday. She swam free, back, breast, and free relay. She got second in the breast stroke and her relay team was first! The swim meets make for late evenings, but it’s always fun to watch them swim and improve each week.

While Hadley’s been swimming, Hayden has been busy at basketball camp during the day, and baseball at night.

Tuesday night was the last regular season game, and here is lucky number 7 up to bat.

The tournament starts this weekend, and then that’s a wrap on baseball for Hayden (forever?) #sadbaseballmom

Friday Favorites {#114}

Hello and Happy Friday! It’s our last Friday of the school year, and we are ready for the weekend.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Favorite Moment(s)

My dad came to visit this past weekend. His birthday was on Tuesday, so I encouraged him to come see us, have some cake, and watch the kids’ last regular season track meet on Monday.

On Sunday, we grilled out steaks and had lemon Bundt cake for dessert. The weather was great, and we were able to spend some time outside.

Monday was the kids’ last regular season track meet. They’ve improved so much and had such a great time this season. Both of them have set PR’s in their events, and the last meet was only for 6th graders. Hayden ran the 1600, 800 and one relay. Hadley ran 100m and two relays. They had quite the cheering section!

On Wednesday, they had their last track practice where they celebrated the season with ice cream and awards. Hayden earned a silver medal for finishing second place (he lost by a fraction a second) in the 6th grade mile while Hadley earned the two bronze medals for third place finishes with her relay teams. That meet was a great way to cap off the season.

Hayden’s 4×800 relay qualified for state in a couple of weeks!

The kids baptism was one year ago, and this week I randomly received the professional photos that were taken. The kids look both the same and older to me one year later. I hope that their faith remains strong and that their hearts always guide them.

We grilled out for my dad’s birthday, and I made two of our favorite summer dishes for sides.

This pasta salad is so easy and so delish. My favorite part is the bits of mozzarella!

My kids even request these asparagus fries. They are so good!

Friday Favorites {#113}

Hello and Happy Friday!

Not only am I counting down Mondays, now I’m focused on Fridays too. After today, we only have one more Friday in the school year (even though next Friday isn’t our last day.)

We’ve had a really great week filled with sports, school activities, and more!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I’m throwing it all the way back to last Friday. Oaks was such a fun day, and the weather ended up being great as well.

I shared that Travis was bummed about the outcome as Epicenter was the favorite that he’d hoped would win. That being said, he shared this on our family group text, and I thought it was the perfect message for the kids:

“To go” margs at a local restaurant are definitely a favorite especially on a chilly and rainy Saturday.

Mother’s Day was great! I was up before the kids (times have definitely changed!), but I received the sweetest card, we went to church, and we enjoyed brunch at a favorite place.

We also picked up my traditional Mother’s Day gift: ferns for the front porch. I think this weekend Travis plans on getting flowers for the front porch planters.

Another favorite this week has been the weather. It seemed to jump to summer, but I will take it! So far this spring, I’ve had to bring coats and blankets to Hayden’s baseball games, but this week has been filled with warmth and sunshine.

Hadley had her end of the year chorus concert last night. We enjoyed listening to the combined chorus and orchestra concert. The end of the year festivities are in full force.

WordPress alerted me of this fun milestone. I don’t write my posts for the likes, but it is fun when readers “like” and comment on posts. Like social media, I guess…engagement makes it better!

Favorite Mom Meme:

Laundry has always been a weakness. I’ve always tried to keep it to the weekend, and I’m ok with that plan. That being said, I think we still have some laundry in the dryer from last Sunday. Getting everything put away is the hardest part!

This flashback from 2015 always cracks me up when it pops up in my Facebook memories. We’d gone to to the park with my brother, so he could take a few photos of my nephew for a Mother’s Day gift, I think. Hadley wanted her photo, and this is what we got…haha

Friday Favorites {#112}

Hello and Happy Friday!

The first weekend in May is pretty big around here…today is Oaks and tomorrow is Derby for those of you who know about horse racing. The city of Louisville is the place to be this week.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

On my way out of Keeneland last Friday, I saw this painted horse with the portrait of Keeneland. This time of the year, there are many different painted horses around town. I’m not sure who painted this one but local students and schools have been painting them, including one at my school.

I know my KC peeps have been spotting painted hearts all around KC. This is our version of that 🙂

We had dinner on the patio on Sunday…this is Homer enjoying the sunshine…and begging for food.

Speaking of sunlight…the Trader Joe’s tulips on the kitchen table were enjoying the morning light.

We’d had the same brand of coffee pot for years…and even had the same coffee pot twice! While our most recent one was only a couple of years old, it kept leaking which caused a coffee stain on our counter. Kristin (@fancythingsblog) shared her new coffee pot recently. When I checked out the link, it took me straight to Drew Barrymore’s line at Walmart. When I saw the price, color options, and confirmed that it was programmable (a must for me!), I decided to go ahead and buy it. She arrived, and she pretty 🤩

You should check out all that Drew’s line has to offer: touch screen toaster, electric kettle, air fryer, slow cooker and more!

Very on brand for me …kids activities are favorites this week

Hadley’s friend shared this photo with her at the dance competition on Friday. There’s Hadley…front and center. These girls did an amazing job.

The kids school winter sports photos finally arrived. The team photos were perfect…the dance team was smiling…the basketball team was not. 😂

We had some major storms roll through town on Tuesday. The game before Hayden’s had a rain delay in the 5th inning. That means his 7:45 game didn’t start until 8:30. We didn’t leave the ballpark until 10:30. Ugh.

That being said, they did have an exciting come from behind win!

Track is starting to slow down a bit. The kids had a meet on Wednesday, and it was a good one!

They were in a few races each. Here’s Hayden running the 3200, and he had another PR. Hadley had an exciting 200m race and came from behind to get 2nd place in her heat.

They are both in relays as well which are so fun to watch. I’ve so enjoyed this track season!

Favorite Clothing Item:

When I knew there was a chance we’d go to Oaks or Derby, I went ahead and ordered this green dress from Nordstrom.

I typically have great luck Nordstrom and finding dresses…and their return policy is so easy, but the shipping was taking a bit longer. Last weekend, I had a free Saturday afternoon, so I checked out a couple of boutiques, but I didn’t have much luck. While in Richmond, there was a shopping center across the street from the boutique I went to, and I popped into JC Penney. We have one in our mall, but I rarely go there.

Well, I found this navy floral ruffle dress, and liked it enough to take home and return later if needed. Well, once I threw on my new wedge sandals and stood in better lighting than the JCP dressing room, I really liked the dress!

Bonus: when the green dress arrived, I liked it too! {Travis has a love/hate relationship with this time of the year: he loves the racing, but hates that his wife buys 10 dresses and keeps two! 😆)

I will probably wear the green one today, but it will be a game time decision. {Unfortunately, I don’t know that it matters much…as I will probably be in my rain coat most of the day *sigh*}

A note about my new wedges from DSW: I’d shared before that these were on my “wish list,” but when I tried on my regular size in the store, I needed a half size bigger which they didn’t have. Then, I tried on these in my regular size, but needed a half size smaller…which they didn’t have. {Only shoe shopping with me can turn into a Goldilocks and the Three Bears story.}

Anyway, as I walked the aisle one more time, I found these which ended up being the cheapest of the three, and they reminded me so much of my tried and true pair that I’ve been wearing for years.

I wore them to Keeneland last Friday, and they were perfect!

Today, will be the real test, but honestly, I should probably just wear my rainboots. Ugh!

Friday Favorites {#111}

Hello and Happy Friday! Raise your hand if you are ready for the weekend. {me!}

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Most of the favorites this week center around my kids’ activities, but that really is my life most days after school.

Some favorites from the week…

How they do middle school track around here is during the week, the meets are A or B meets with certain events for each meet. So, those meets shouldn’t go past 8:30. Then, the Friday night meets are invitationals where there are more schools (and schools out of our district) and they take the top two athletes for each event. These meets run longer (11:30 PM or so!), but provide a fun atmosphere.

Hayden ran in the invitational last Friday night and ran his fastest mile ever! He’s hit his stride (literally and figuratively) this season. Hadley was there to cheer him on.

On Saturday, we watched cousin Wyatt place in his baseball game. He did great.

Saturday night was the long-awaited Chris Stapleton concert at Kroger Field. It was the first ever concert there, and it was a blast. We saw Chris Stapleton in 2018 at a small venue in Cincinnati. When the Kroger Field concert was planned for Lexington, we jumped at the chance to see him again. Well, this was in fall of 2019 for a spring 2020 concert…which got pushed to April 2021…which got pushed to April 2022. We actually declined our original tickets last year, and then purchased some last week because we didn’t want to miss his performance.

We met up with neighbors (friends) for a few drinks before the concert.

There was an opening act that we missed, but we got there right as (Missouri girl!) Sheryl Crow was singing. She is 60 and fabulous. She played so many great songs.

Then, it was Willie Nelson’s turn. Y’all, he’s 88 years old, and he still put on a pretty good performance.

Then, it was time for Stapleton. He was ahhhmazing! The only bonus of having to wait two years to see him was the fact that he had more songs to play! He played for two hours, and the concert ended at 11.

The weather was perfection, we had great seats, and we ran into so many people we know. I’m so glad that we didn’t miss out on these amazing performances.

Another favorite was the kids in their “Sunday best.” It was “Baptism Sunday” at church, so we loved watching so many friends make such an important life decision.

For Monday night’s track meet, the kids were dodging raindrops…but look at that rainbow…

Unfortunately, we found out that Hadley had strep on Tuesday. She wasn’t feeling well on Monday, but still ran in the track meet. On Tuesday, I let her stay home and ended up taking her to the dr. So, she missed a couple of days of school this week, and her Wednesday track meet. She was bummed about that, but she seems to be doing better now.

Again, more track and baseball this week. Hayden did an awesome job pitching on Tuesday night, and had a PR in the 3200 on Wednesday night. Monday night, Hadley ran the 800 and the first leg of a relay, and did awesome despite not feeling well.

Friday Favorites {#110}

Hello and Happy Friday. How was your week? Ours had some ups and some downs, and I think we are all looking forward to the weekend…that’s for sure.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Favorite Photo(s):

The kids on Easter is a favorite. The tree was blooming so beautifully and the sun was shining. These two really are growing up on me!

The kids had two track meets this week (and one more tonight), and I’m having the best time watching them do this together. It’s super sweet that they will have these memories!

Favorite Moment(s):

We had so much fun at Keeneland on Saturday. It was just so nice to catch up with some great friends and hang out.

I’m so thankful that the egg dyeing tradition has continued. I’m also very thankful that they can do most of it on their own 🙂 Kind of like pumpkin carving…I’m happy to just sit back and relax!

Favorite Food:

Well, what does one do when they have a dozen hard boiled eggs and is the only one who eats them?! They make a week’s worth of chef’s salads!

I packed them in my handy dandy salad lunch container that my mom got me.…

Favorite Clothing Item:

I have a darker denim jacket that I’ve had for a few years. When I saw this distressed one that was on sale (for $15) at Old Navy, I jumped on it. It doesn’t seem to be on sale now, but it’s perfect for the days when I need an extra layer but don’t want to wear my heavy winter coat.

I already have this cardigan in “cadet gray”…

…but I purchased it again in this hot pink color. It’s the perfect cardigan for spring. This was my outfit on Wednesday and so many people complimented me on the color. 💓

Favorite Kid Quote:

Well, I don’t have a kid quote this week…but Hadley’s school chorus had a performance on Wednesday, and I loved hearing the two songs they’d been working on.

Favorite Mom Meme:

The number of times that I come home to find that they’ve left lights on for hours are too many to count.

Other Faves:

I picked up these tulips from Trader Joe’s, and they were showing off in the morning sunlight.

Besides two track meets, Hayden has also had two baseball games. He did an awesome job pitching on Tuesday night.

At Wednesday’s meet, the coaches had the kids run different events. Both of my kids ran the 100m dash which was fun to watch. They’ll admit they are more distance (Hayden) and mid-distance (Hadley) runners, but I love seeing them push themselves and try something new.

By the fourth track meet of the season, I finally figured out exactly what I needed to pack for the two to three hour meet…including my Kindle.

Do you ever see a photo from the past that you clearly remember taking? This is one of them from me. During a very difficult season of life in 2013, I remember asking the kids to sit on the porch and smile, snapping the photo, and counting my blessings. #pinchycheekcute

Friday Favorites {#109}

Hello and Happy Friday! How was your week? Per usual, we had a good one, but I will say I felt like we (ME!) had to manage our time wisely and plan for every second. Besides baseball or track in the evenings most nights, both kids had tests to study for, I had some errands to run, and more.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I’m rewinding all the way back to the weekend.

I’ve been loving the Beachbody workouts, and I’m so glad that I purchased this subscription last summer. With so much going on, I’m still not perfect about getting workouts in, but it’s so nice to just head to the basement when I have thirty minutes to spare.

I completed the Morning Meltdown 100 program on Saturday. I very rarely did these workouts in the morning, but I really enjoyed them. Like most programs, Jericho (the head instructor) provides a mix of cardio, weights, yoga, and more.

This is the second program I’ve completed (also, Muscle Burns Fat) where it is the instructor’s first program with Beachbody. I know it may seem silly, but the last workout is always so special; they often tear up with gratitude for those who’ve joined them on their journey. I sure did get used to Jericho and her cast and I enjoyed this program.

With my mom and Gma visiting, we we out to a late lunch with my brother’s family on Saturday. I got the New Mexican Breakfast, and it was delish.

Saturday night, Travis and I went to see Black Jacket Symphony with some friends. They covered songs by Police, and it was a good time.

Hadley after church with the cherry blossoms in bloom are a favorite, for sure.

The kids loved all the Easter goodies they got from my mom and Gma. The kids thought it was fun that the baskets (that my mom made!) included edible grass.

On Monday, I tagged along with the Criminal Justice class to EKU. We toured the College of Justice, Safety, and Military Science, and it was so interesting. We ate in the food court on campus which of course high school kids thought was so cool. Chick-fil-A and Moe’s in the middle of the day was so fun for them. I love a college campus.

Hayden had two baseball games this week, and thankfully they were the earlier games.

He touched an awesome game last night which was fun.

The kids had a track meet on Wednesday. Hayden ran his first ever 3200 and then turned around and ran the 800. Hadley ran the first leg of the 4×200, and did great. It’s always so fun seeing friends from other school as well.

Favorite Kid Quote:

Due to the storms we had on Wednesday, the kids’ school didn’t have power all day yesterday. When we asked how school was, Hadley said, “It was fine. We just did paper/pencil work. Back to 2019, baby!” 🤣

Friday Fun:

Well, I guess “fun” is all relative, but have you heard of the website http://www.typingtest.com? Someone mentioned it recently, and I checked it out.

In high school, two of my favorite classes were Keyboarding 1 and Keyboarding 2. I can’t believe those were classes, but I loved typing.

Actually, when I was in middle school, I asked for a typewriter…and it was the kind that could go back and white out errors. I swear I had friends. Why do you ask? 😆

There are one minute timed tests. I don’t want to brag, but my highest WPM score was 80 WPM on the medium test. If you try it, let me know your score!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

In honor of their first track season that is currently underway, here is a pic from October 2015 which is when they ran their first ever mile for a districtwide PTA run.

They crossed the finish line together.

{Real talk: I remember at the start of the race legitimately being worried that my two kindergarteners were going to get lost during this race! I mean we just let them go! I was like, “STAY TOGETHER!” and was worried until they crossed the finish line…

…which they did…together!

This pic of them made the local Lexington magazine which is too precious!

Y’all, the Aldi post was so popular on my Facebook feed. I honestly neglect that space and mostly just have it set up to share my blog posts. Anyway, that post had probably triple the number views and tons of comments that day. Who knew Aldi was so popular?!

What are your weekend plans? I’m honestly not sure what we are up to tonight and tomorrow, but we’ll celebrate Easter with family on Sunday.

Friday Favorites {#108}

Hello and Happy Friday! I’m so happy to see Friday.

I feel like I’m limping into the weekend. We went from 0 to 100 between last week and this week. We’ve had two late nights at the ball park and a late night on Wednesday at a cold and rainy track meet. I’m very ready for more spring like weather. Well, joke’s on me…tomorrow’s weather includes some snow flurries!

Favorites from the week:

Last weekend, I was at Trader Joe’s and this miniature bouquet of peonies were calling my name.

Last weekend, I started watching Season 2 of The Home Edit. I love this show. It’s always fun to see Clea, Joanna and their team work their magic.

This meme is relatable after watching the first few episodes.

I saw that the ladies shared this on their Instagram. What’s your Get Organized name?

I’m sentimental denim…and this isn’t wrong! It’s very hard for me to throw things away…including my jeans.

Yesterday, Clea shared that she has breast cancer and is undergoing surgery today. She was so eloquent on Instagram stories sharing her journey. Prayers for her during season of life.

I still feel new to Antique Candle Co candles, but I couldn’t pass up the Country Pear scent being on sale. It arrived this past weekend and smells amazing.

Reading has been another favorite recently. I read two books over break. Both were good, but I cried until I had a headache at the end of Pack Up the Moon. I will share both books and whatever else I read this month in my April What I’ve Been Reading post.

The neighborhood kids playing outside was definitely a favorite of the week. Everyone seemed kind of scattered for Spring Break but by Sunday my driveway was full of kids playing basketball and running around. It made my heart so happy.

On Sunday, instead of having a slow cooker dinner (I saved that for Monday), we grilled out since the weather was so nice. The cousins were over and playing with the neighborhood kids, so we decided to make an easy dinner to enjoy outside.

Baseball Boo is back! Hayden had his first game of the season on Tuesday. He looks so cute in his uniform.

Tuesday was soggy, but the rain cleared just in time for the late night game. They played in the cold under the lights, and Hayden was the starting pitcher. It was fun to see him back out there.

The kids’ first middle school track meet was another favorite. The weather for the meet was miserable with a capital M. Mis-er-able. It rained all day long, but they still had the meet.

Let me tell you who loves a track meet…even in the rain. Travis White.

(not kidding) Here is his setting his watch before one of the kid’s races.

I texted him during the day because I’d seen the email from the coaches about wearing black under their uniforms, and he responded that he’d laid everything out and packed bags (snacks, rain gear, extra shoes, etc) during his lunch. This is his skillset, and I am here for it.

I love watching them participate, and I think it’s so fun that they are doing this together.

They both ran the third leg of the 4×800 in the pouring rain.

Then Hayden ran the 1600 and Hadley the 400. They both did an awesome job considering it was their first meet, they were running with 7th and 8th graders, and the weather was horrible.

Hadley said, “I love track!…I’d love it more if it wasn’t raining, but I loooove track.” The best!

Like cross country, I think track teams have so much fun together supporting one another and growing and improving with each and every race.

Favorite Kid Quote:

Travis was telling Hayden about the importance of having a pre-race routine. I said, “Routines are good. Help you stay focused…in life, school, workouts, etc…” Hadley said, “Yeah, like I have a nighttime skin care routine which is important.” 🤣 (She is in the bathroom no less than 22 minutes every night…*sigh*)

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

I’m feeling pretty sentimental this baseball season. This is Hayden’s 12-year-old season, and may be his last baseball season (for now? forever?). As the kids get older, it’s time to start making choices, and I do think Hayden’s main focus will be on running in the fall and the spring. We’ll see. With anything, we just want him to have fun, do his best, and know that we will always support him.
