Friday Favorites {#222}

Hello and happy Friday!

For sure, TGIF! Although, I’ve been in school for a month, this was the first five day week with students! We all made it. Hooray!

As always, I’m linking up with Erika and Andrea for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Well, no pictures, but going back to last Friday, we didn’t have school which was so nice. Usually, teachers have to work, but we could “flex” our time. It was so nice not setting an alarm and then watching Real Housewives OC while sipping my coffee.

I took Hayden to get a haircut, and then we picked up Jimmy Johns for lunch. The rest of the day was busy, but it was still a good day off.

Saturday morning we were up early for Hayden’s first official high school cross country meet. It was so hot, but both the boys and girls teams did great. Hayden is running varsity, and he had a top 10 finish to kick off his high school cross country career.

Post race smiles!

Saturday was non-stop with volleyball as well. Hadley had two games that I missed when I was at Hayden’s race, but then they had three more games in the afternoon.

Saturday night, we finally watched Twisters. I rented it on Apple TV, and we all thought it was a pretty good movie. I had hoped for us all to see it in the theater this summer, but the $20 price tag from Apple was definitely less expensive then if we all went to the movie theater.

On Sunday, we celebrated my nephew’s birthday. We can’t believe he’s 10….and we appreciated that he wanted to share his cake with us 😉

Our evenings this week were filled with volleyball!

From pink night to support Breast Cancer…

…to playing tough and winning their first district match up…

…It’s been a fun and busy week of volleyball for Hadley…and they are off to a pretty solid start.

A couple of more Hadley pics…

She sent me this pic from the cafeteria…she loves her ramen! haha

…and I had to document her wearing her new jeans. When I tell you the search for “the perfect pair” was harder than I ever expected, I’m not lying. But.. after a few mall visits and going into quite a few stores, she found a pair she loved at The Buckle.

On some game days, they dress up…and jeans count as dressing up, apparently!

Favorite Mom Meme:

This is so true!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

Lots of memories from the younger days this week including Hayden’s first ever cross country race in 2018. He was in 3rd grade!

Then:

Now:

These two besties started playing volleyball that same year…

…and look at them now!

Weekly Recap:

It was a busy week, but I had a couple of posts:

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a great long holiday weekend.

Friday Favorites {#216}

Hello and happy Friday!

These Fridays in July really are hitting differently! I’m starting to feel the time crunch of getting some things accomplished at home as well as starting to think about school. I’m always grateful for this time off, but I also always struggle with the reality of our summer coming to a close.

Anyway, as always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Well, it’s the part of summer where I follow through with promises I said we could do this summer…and that included Hadley getting her second ear piercing. There’s a new place in Lexingon, Hey Rowan, that I believe is a chain, but registered nurses do their ear piercings. Just like when Hadley was eight years old, she opted to have both ears done at the same time. haha!

The place was super cute, and we were in and out within 30 minutes.

I haven’t purchased as many flowers this summer, but once I got back from KC last week, I made a trip to Trader Joe’s and picked up some tulips. They matched my “vanilla cloud” candle.

Last Saturday, Hadley and friends played in a sand volleyball tournament. This was her first time playing in a sand volleyball tournament. It was a doubles tournament, and Hadley and her friend went 3-2 on the day and had lots of fun.

The tournament had free t-shirts, and these girls chose the brightest colors.

Saturday night, we met friends for dinner at a new Sri Lankan place, and the food was really good.

After three days of volleyball boot camp and one evening of tryouts, this girl found out she made the high school volleyball team!

She was so nervous, but we’re proud of her and all the hard work she has put in during this past year. She’s pretty much been playing volleyball non-stop for the past year, so while I knew she was prepared for the tryout, I understood the nerves.

We can’t wait to watch her (and so many of her friends!) on the court for their first high school season.

(She was channeling her inner champion for tryouts while wearing her “lucky” Chiefs Super Bowl t-shirt, and we celebrated with the “red plate” and her favorite –salmon for dinner.)

Time at our favorite book store was a favorite this week.

Hayden’s been at running camp most of the week, and I think he’s been having a good time. I’m ready for him to be home, though!

(BTW – as we walked into the sparse college dorm room, he said, “oh…this is so preppy!” haha…oh the difference in boys and girls)

I tried two new recipes this week. A friend mentioned that she’d made ribs in the slow cooker, and my family loves ribs…but I never make them.

This recipe was easy and delish!

I also made this teriyaki chicken, and served it with snap peas and rice. Hadley said it was 10/11…so I will take that compliment!

Favorite Mom Meme:

I feel this deeply…but the other day I had a car full of girls who wanted frozen yogurt…and while I was ready to go home, I couldn’t say no to fro-yo, and enjoyed hearing all the gossip and laughs from the back of the car.

Weekly Recap:

I’ve still been a busy blogger this week. Here are my posts:

I hope you have a great weekend! We finally have reasonable temps, so it’s nice to be able to be outside and enjoy the weather.

Friday Favorites {#204}

Hello and happy Friday!

How was your week? Ours was good, but I think the end of the school year fatigue is setting in!

As always, I’m linking up with Erika and Andrea for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Track meets!

Friday night, Hayden ran in a very competitive mile race in Louisville during the Eastern Relays meet.

Hayden came in 3rd with a PR for the mile.

Since I wasn’t there, and Travis is too busy cheering/coaching him, I loved seeing some professional photos of the race.

Hayden sent me this pic which made me smile.

While Travis was with Hayden in Louisville, Hadley was running in a meet in Lexington. She ran the 400 and had a PR as well as the 4×200 which had a state qualifying time. The Friday night track meets can go past 10:00, so we were happy she was finished running by 8:30.

On Monday night, she ran the 100m dash for the first time ever, and won her heat and came in 3rd overall. She was happy with that run.

Over the weekend, she had a volleyball tournament. Her coach had her play libero for the first time, and Hadley was excited for that opportunity. She typically plays back row, but the libero can be subbed in and out with more freedom and gets to play a bit more.

Her team saw some tough competition, but still made it to the gold bracket. They had a fun weekend.

I saw this on Facebook, and loved it. What a cute idea for a book display this time of the year.

My trusty slow cooker that I’ve had for years had to be replaced. The insert cracked quite a while ago, but it was finally time for a new one. I ordered this one for Drew Barrymore’s Walmart line, and so far I like it.

I drink a few protein shakes a week, and I usually stick with the Premier Protein brand. We’ve tried Core Power recently, and the kids like it too. Honestly, the chocolate tastes like chocolate milk…so good, so we ordered a couple of packs from Amazon since our Kroger doesn’t always have it.

Travis and I were able to get to Keeneland yesterday afternoon which was nice. The temps were cool, but the sun was shining…and he “broke even” on the day which is a win in my book. 😆

Remember the Lego flowers I gave Hadley for Valentine’s Day because she thought they’d be cute in her room?! Turns out…Hadley doesn’t like putting the Lego flowers together. My mom saved the day. The bouquet turned out really cute.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Well, this one doesn’t make me laugh…but it is relatable. *sigh*

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

This pic from 2014 has always been a fave. Hadley having no boundaries…and Hayden wishing she had some!

Hello Monday

Hello and happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was good, and today was a Monday we got to sleep in!

I’m even late getting this post out, but that’s ok.

Did you catch my Saturday and Sunday posts?

I’m linking up with Sarah and Holly to share about my weekend.

Here’s a peek at our weekend:

I had a meeting on Friday morning, and as I headed downtown, it was as if I was headed straight to the bottom of this pretty rainbow. Later, when I looked at the pic, I saw a faint double rainbow. The rest of Friday was soggy!

Hayden had basketball practice, and Hadley requested Starbucks after school. I got a Pistachio latte, and we headed home. I put my pjs on and caught the weather because I was hoping for a snow update.

Hayden went straight from basketball to dinner with friends to celebrate his friend’s birthday. When Trav dropped him off, he picked up dinner for us. We ate and hung out with Hadley, but she had an early bedtime due to early wake-up for volleyball the next day.

While Hayden continued having fun by going bowling with friends, Travis and I watched a couple of episodes of Night Agent. We are hooked!

Hayden got home around 11:30, and we all headed to bed.

I was up around 6:15 to get Hadley up by 6:30. She had to be at volleyball by 7:30, and thankfully another dad was taking the girls.

Homer missed Sis!

Pool play started at 8:30, and then Hadley didn’t have games for a couple of hours, but she had to stay and ref.

I ran to Target for a few things before going home to do a quick workout. I’m glad I made the choice to do that because the rest of the day was non-stop.

Then, I headed back to catch the last two pool play games. The girls found their groove and went 2-1 in pool play.

Then, there was a break before bracket play. I went to a nearby restaurant, ate a little lunch and started a new book. I was there about an hour, and it was nice to have a little quiet time, catch up on emails and texts, and read.

These are some of Hadley’s best friends, and for this tournament, they were on two different teams. There were hundreds of teams at this tournament, but of course they ended up playing each other in the first round of bracket play. Hadley’s team won, but the first set was a nail biter…31-29!! We had fun watching them, and these girls did great.

Hadley’s team had one more game, and I think everyone was ready to leave the gym after 10 hours!

Hadley had started to not feel well, and she requested Panera for dinner, so we picked that up on the way home.

Then, Travis and I headed to Hayden’s basketball game.

It was just a scrimmage, but he was playing against one of his besties, and it was a fun game to watch.

Travis and Hayden went to Lex Live with the team to watch the football games, but I wanted to get home to Hadley…and to watch the Chiefs in peace and quiet.

I don’t know how they played in negative temps, but they did…and they pulled out a win!

Travis and Hayden were home around the end of the game, and it was another late night to bed.

Y’all I slept until 10 (after I woke up around 6:00 with a headache…I think they long week, busy Saturday and very little food, for some reason on Saturday, caught up with me. I was thankful that I was able to fall back asleep)

When I got up, I placed our weekly Kroger order…and then I watched two episodes of The Crown.

Honestly, I just spent the rest of the day in pjs which is all that I could ask for. I got lots of texts and Facebook wishes for my birthday which of course I appreciated.

Later, the kids and Trav gave me my birthday cards…

Hadley was amazed at Trav’s bubble letters that included my name and my age…and he said, “I took art in high school!” 😆

…and look at this cookie cake! They know me so well. haha

We had big family dinner plans, but Hadley really wasn’t feeling well, so we decided to postpone those, and Travis and I headed to get a quick bite to eat.

Honestly, this was still a very nice meal at J. Alexander’s for my birthday, so I really appreciated a few moments with Trav…and not cooking. We brought the kids some chicken tenders home for their dinner.

Then, I was going to finish up this post, but Travis asked if I wanted to watch more Night Agent. So, that’s how I wrapped up my birthday weekend.

This morning, as I type this, I’m enjoying coffee, and a piece of cookie cake for breakfast…and there’s snow on the ground! This is the best kind of Monday.

Friday Favorites {#185]

Hello and happy Friday…and happy December 1st!

It felt odd not posting last Friday, but I’m back this week to link up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I think I usually do some kind of Thanksgiving recap, but never got to it this week.

Last Wednesday, we traveled to KC to spend Thanksgiving with my family. On Thursday, I watched a bit of the parade, per tradition.

Then, we hung out at my mom’s house before heading to my dad’s cousin’s house for Thanksgiving (late afternoon) lunch.

She outdoes herself, and the tables always look so pretty. Per tradition, we have chocolate turkeys with our names on them. How fun!

We were able to get a family pic…

…and hang out with family for a while. Unfortunately, we had to leave a bit early because Travis wasn’t feeling well. We ended up getting a hotel room in hopes that we wouldn’t spread germs, so I dropped Travis off and went to my dad’s to get his things.

Unfortunately, he shared his stomach bug with me, and by Friday morning, I joined him at the hotel.

Thankfully, the kids are old enough to (mostly) fend for themselves. They hung out with my dad, my brother’s family, and my mom and Gma on Friday and then again on Saturday morning.

On Friday, the kids baked cookies and made waffles with my mom, Gma, aunt, and my brother’s family.

Then, they went to the nearby “magic tree” that we usually visit when we are in town for the holidays.

My sister-in-law sent me this pic which I really appreciated.

On Saturday, we were feeling good enough to head home. I was bummed that I didn’t get to hang with everyone on the trip, but I was glad the stomach bug seemed to only be a 24 hour one.

Fave clothes:

I have a couple of Walmart finds that have been great this holiday season. I shared these pjs the other day…

…and this green fleece is so cute and warm. I’ve already worn it a few times, and I love it. It comes in a few colors and is under $20.

Our Angel Tree gifts are due this weekend, and due to our crazy schedule, I ended up taking the kids shopping individually for gifts.

I know I can find most things on Amazon, but I really want the kids to be intentional about choosing gifts and thinking of others…no matter how busy of a season we are having.

On Sunday, Hadley and I headed to Target. She got us drinks at Starbucks while I picked up a few things I needed, and then we shopped for the girl she chose.

I didn’t know what I was ordering, but I saw the iced gingerbread latte on the menu and went for it. I don’t want to know how many calories it has…because it is delicious!

On Wednesday, Hadley had volleyball practice after school, and I picked up Hayden from school and headed to Target. We shopped for the brothers that he’d picked from the tree.

On Sunday, I suggested we go ahead and put ornaments on the tree. The house was a mess, but I knew we had a busy week ahead.

I’m so glad we took the 30 minutes to do this. The tree looks even better now, and it’s always fun to see the ornaments year after year.

On my Sunday Trader Joe’s run, I picked up some seasonal favorites!

Last week, Hadley’s volleyball pics came in, and there were so many great ones. This one was my favorite:

Tuesday was 8th grade night for volleyball. I honestly can’t believe we are hitting these middle school milestones.

The school did an awesome job celebrating them, and some of the volleyball moms were so thoughtful to order flowers and a balloon stack.

The posters the coaches put out were so fun to see.

The athletic director even took family photos after each girl walked in. This might just have to be our Christmas card pic. haha

Favorite Mom Meme:

I’m not sure I’ve ever related more to a meme than this one…lol

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

When I was making the Shutterfly ornaments, I went down a rabbit hole of old pics. These ones of the kids with Santa about did me in!

So sweet.

I decided to print them and put them in frames I already have out. It’s a cute way to “decorate” and share memories as well.

Weekly Recap:

I had a few posts this week including some memes and a couple of fun link ups:

I’m thankful for a pretty chill upcoming weekend, but I do think it’s going to include monitoring a science fair project. Bah humbug!

Thanks for reading,

Hello and happy Friday!

This is the best kind of Friday because in just a few hours, it will be spring break!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I picked up some flowers at Trader Joe’s this week. I thought the bunny was super cute, and the pot with tulips and daffodils was too pretty to pass up.

Hadley wrapped up her short season of volleyball last weekend. While I was still under the weather, I went to whatever games I could. Thankfully, Travis took her to the early games, and I was able to catch the afternoon ones on Saturday and late morning ones on Sunday.

Her team really came together these past two weekends and were lots of fun to watch. I really do love watching Hadley play, and she did her part for her team this weekend.

How cute is this bag from Walmart? I stopped by Walmart after the volleyball tournament, and walked out with this one. I have a big pool bag, but now that the kids are older, they often take their backpacks to the pool with their towel, goggles, clothes, etc.

This one will be perfect for just me to carry my towel, sunscreen, and Kindle.

They have so many cute options that I had a hard time choosing.

Homer snuggles are the best when we don’t feel well…

…and mac and cheese and a classic movie are the best too. On Saturday night, the only thing that sounded good was Trader Joe’s mac and cheese (Hadley’s fave), and Travis made it for me. I watched basketball and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers which is one of my faves.

I’m definitely feeling better, but my voice is probably at 50%. By the end of the day, my head hurts from trying to talk throughout the day. It’s been a crazy illness…whatever it is I’ve had.

Another how cute…but how cute is this wooden bunny from Ruffled Nest? When I placed my order, I wasn’t sure if I wanted the 20″ or 16″ white washed bunny, so I went ahead with the 20″. Well, as soon as it arrived, I ordered the 16″ to go with it. It should arrive next week, and I will definitely keep them out for most of April.

Favorite Mom Meme:

My mom sent this to me, and I feel it deeply!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

Last weekend, Travis was mowing the front lawn. Hayden’s friends were coming over to play out back, and Travis showed Hayden how to mow some of the backyard. I was resting, but Hadley sent me a couple of photos. No lie…after I looked at them, this Facebook memory from 2012 popped up.

I say it too often but “where as the time gone?”

Weekly Recap:

I had quite a mix of posts this week:

What are your weekend plans? I think today is going to be pretty rainy, so we might have a lowkey night at home.

Tomorrow is April 1st. I’m always happy when April Fools Day isn’t on a school day. haha

After this week, I’m feeling extra grateful to have a full week with my kids and not a lot to do.

I do think I will post pretty regularly next week, but I will just see how it goes!

Thanks for reading,

Hello Monday

Hello and happy Monday!

How was your weekend?

I’m linking up with Holly and Sarah to tell you all about ours.

We had a three day weekend with no school on Friday. I stayed up a late on Thursday night watching some of the basketball games since I knew I didn’t have school the next day.

Friday was St. Patrick’s Day. I slept in a bit (by my standards!) before getting up and having a couple of cups of coffee while watching tv and reading blogs.

I let the kids sleep in a bit, but then I made our traditional green pancakes for St. Patrick’s Day.

The kids had an indoor track meet in Louisville, so they prepped for that before Travis got home from work around 11. They left, and I decided to get a workout in before driving to their meet. My dad was visiting, so we just decided to drive a bit later and have less downtime at the meet.

This was a USATF meet, and both kids ran the 800. Hadley had a PR while Hayden won his heat and had a PR as well. They run in the 13-14 age group, and there kids from all across the country at this meet.

We watched a couple other races of kids that Travis coaches and snapped a few pics before heading home.

Yes, we spent more time in the car than at the meet. haha

We got home around 4:30 with plans to go to my brother’s house around 6. So, I read a bit, took a quick nap, and showered. Travis and Hayden went to the high school sweet 16 basketball game while my dad, Hadley and I went to my brother’s house.

We just kept it simple and ordered pizza. We watched the UK basketball game, and then headed home. It had been a long day, and I knew I had an early alarm on Saturday morning, so I went to bed at a decent time.

*Ugh* My alarm woke me at 6:45, and I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. I woke up around 3:45 and had trouble falling back asleep. When I did, I felt like my alarm woke me up.

I was moving pretty slowly, and I had to wake Hadley around 7:15 for her volleyball tournament.

Hadley had two early morning “pool play” games. My dad went to the morning games with me while Travis and Hayden headed to Louisville again for track.

Hadley had games at 9:00 and 11:00. Her team had to do scoreboard/line judge during the game in between, so I got another cup of coffee and did my Kroger Clicklist order.

She was finished with pool play around noon, and requested Chipolte for lunch. We picked that up and got word that she didn’t have a game until 4:00 which meant we could go home for a couple of hours.

Hayden was running the 1500m race at the track meet around that time, so Travis was keeping me up to date. He had another PR and ran 14 seconds faster than just two weeks ago. It was so good to hear Trav tell me the results because I know Hayden was nervous before the race.

Hadley’s volleyball team had two afternoon games, and they played so much better than they did in the morning. Maybe they just needed time to wake up that morning 😉 They ended up winning their bracket. It was fun seeing them gain confidence and come together when they needed to.

We got home just in time for the MU game. My brother came over to watch it with my dad and me. Unfortunately, they lost, but they had such a great season. I enjoyed watching that group of guys.

Dinner was whatever anyone could find around the house. Some had leftovers, and I had two bowls of Lucky Charms cereal. Sometimes, cereal is my “dessert” at night.

After a long day, I went to bed around 10.

I was up around 7:30 on Sunday, and by 8:00, I had our corned beef in the slow cooker.

I drank my coffee and started this blog post. Then, it was time for church. After church, Travis picked up our Kroger order.

We unpacked the groceries while my dad, Hayden and my brother watched an F1 race.

Hadley started to make our March cake. While the cake baked, I decided to make lunch that could also be my lunch a couple days this week: taco salad.

After lunch, I watched some of the F1 race, added to this blog post, and made the Irish soda bread.

Then, it was time for the traditional front porch pic with my dad and the kids which is always his request.

Hayden played outside with friends and Hadley went to youth group.

Of course, we watched the UK game which was another tough loss for this house.

Hadley and Layla put the finishing touches on our cake during halftime. {*Hadley was silly this weekend wearing my glasses.}

We enjoyed dinner and cake and then watched a couple more basketball games.

That was about it for our Sunday evening, and we prepped for the week ahead.

Overall, it was a busy and good few days.

We have two weeks until Spring Break. Even Travis is asking me if it’s later than usual this year. I don’t think it is, but it sure feels like it!

Friday Favorites {#135}

Hello and Happy Friday! Why do the short weeks always feel so long? We had a great week with a couple of extra days off, sports, and some early birthday celebrations.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

School photos arrived, and Hadley said that they look like grown ups. She’s not wrong!

Hadley got her braces off a couple of weeks later, but I’m glad to have this moment in time forever!

Also, the day they had school pics, I picked the kids up from school. When Hayden got in the car, I asked him if he got pen on his shirt before or after the photos were taken. He said,”After.”…Hmm…shaking my head.

Another favorite was an unexpected four day weekend. Due to high rates of illness and teacher absences, we didn’t have school on Monday. Obviously, I’m thankful my kids haven’t been sick (nor have I), but I hate that so many have been these past few weeks. Since I knew we also had Tuesday off for Election Day, I let Monday be more of the fun day while Tuesday we had schoolwork and chores to do. So, Sunday night, Hadley spent the night at a friend’s house, and Hayden played about five hours of Xbox on Monday!

Tuesday, they slept in, we had lunch with family for early birthday celebrations, we raked leaves for a couple of hours, and the kids had some homework and studying to do.

*Early* birthday cards for the kids are always a favorite...

…as are silly selfies I find on my phone.

On Sunday, I put one pencil tree up in the living room until we get our real one.

Then, on Monday, I put up the other one in the sun room.

If having a favorite pencil tree up the same time as having a glowing pumpkin out is wrong, I don’t want to be right!

I voted on Tuesday which is always a great feeling.

Over a week ago, Travis and Hayden used the leaf blower to blow all of our leaves into piles under our three trees. With the nice weather on Tuesday, (and Travis working so much), the kids and I bagged 25 bags of leaves. Joke’s on me! We need at least 30 more bags to finish the other two trees.

Lexington typically has dates that if all your leaves are on your curb, they will drive by and suck them up with the vacuum. Well, due to staffing shortages, they aren’t doing that, so that’s why we are back to bagging. The kids were big help, but I needed two Tylenol that evening.

Hadley’s volleyball team had a big win this week against a cross town rival. It was amazing to see how much better they were from game one last week to game two this week!

And…last night, Hadley served 12 straight points including the game point. Serving is something she knew she’d need to work on this season, and we’re so proud of her that her hard work seems to be paying off.

Hello and Happy Friday!

How was your week? We had a really good one that included Halloween, volleyball, school and more!

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

A few fun favorites:

Last Friday, I went to see Heather McMahan’s live taping of her show for Netflix. We’d gone to see her back and January, and were excited to go again. We all met at our friend’s house for carryout Mexican food and drinks. Then, we went downtown for the show. The show was a mix of the material from January as well as some new material too. It was a great evening!

Since it was a taping, we couldn’t have our phones out during the performance. Heather looked stunning, and she snapped a photo with the audience at the end.

On Saturday, Hadley went to Great Wolf Lodge with a group from school. She had so much fun.

Halloween Fun:

While we were at the Heather McMahan taping, Hadley and the Student Council were hosting a haunted house. It was quite the success.

Look at my zombie volleyball player! haha

My brother’s kids made some sweet treats for us and dropped them off on Saturday.

We had our “spooky dinner” on Sunday night. I made mummy dogs and brains for dinner…with a side of eyeballs.

Halloween on a Monday should always be a hard no….but it was a great evening. The weather was perfect. Hayden threw on a jersey at the last minute to be a football player while Hadley was a construction worker with her friend.

Hadley and friends ran around the neighborhood together while Hayden and his friends did the same thing. They scored so much candy that it’s ridiculous!

Travis and I hung on the front porch to pass out candy. Honestly, I had a moment of sadness when I realized the last time I sat on the front porch and passed out candy was 2009 when I had a very big pregnant belly. This time has gone by in a blink, but I’m glad the kids were close by and had fun with their friends.

I went to grab a cup for my wine and laughed at my choice! While it’s a Christmas sentiment, I think it applies to Halloween on a Monday!

Volleyball:

Hadley had her first volleyball game this week! Volleyball is one of my favorite sports to watch, so I’m definitely looking forward to watching them this season.

She’s having fun with friends which is definitely a bonus.

Favorite Mom Meme:

This made me laugh way too hard…

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

This throwback to 2013 is one of my favorite photos. So sweet and festive for Halloween.

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

What are your weekend plans? We don’t really have anything tonight, but tomorrow Hayden has a cross country meet, and then Travis and I will spend the day at Keeneland for the Breeder’s Cup. I’m one of the weird ones who loves the time change (in the fall), and I have feeling I’m going to need that extra hour of sleep by Sunday!

Thanks so much for reading.

Friday Favorites {#116}

Hello and Happy Friday.

We had a good but busy summer week. Personally, it was nice to not get up and think about school, but I still had to set an alarm every morning due to Hadley’s activities.

Also, I’ve felt “off” all week. I guess it’s a summer cold, and Hadley has been dealing with congestion too. On top of having a sore throat and drainage, I was tired and sometimes achy. I did test neg for the Vid, so who knows! Maybe the hustle and bustle of the end of the school year caught up with me.

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

I mentioned in Tuesday’s post that what was supposed to be a couple of hours at the pool Sunday turned into many hours at the pool and a Pina Colada with Trav.

Hadley has decided she wants to play volleyball again, so we signed her up for a camp this week with a friend. That meant 9-12 camp four days this week!

Hayden left on Monday to go to the lake with a friend, so I had lots of Hadley time this week.

After camp on Monday, we hit the mall for a few things and lunch in the food court. What is it about kids and the food court?! It seemed like a treat to her. haha

She has had dance recital practice three nights this week with the recital this weekend. It’s nice that she’s old enough to handle costume changes, but I definitely sweep in at the end to make sure she has everything!

Wednesday night’s recital practice included Hadley (and her friend) helping cousin Layla’s tap class up on stage. Super cute group of little ladies.

While at the lake, Hayden had so much fun with two of his friends. With limited WiFi, they had all kinds of good old fashioned fun. They swam, ran around, went in the kayaks and fished.

Hayden was so excited to catch a few fish (a first for him) including this large mouth bass.

On Wednesday, we celebrated our 3 year Homer-versary! Since we don’t know his actual birthday, we celebrate him on his “Gotcha Day,” and he obliges for a few photos in his birthday scarf thanks to a few treats!

6/8/19

He’s calmed down since we got him and is overall a pretty good boy (even though he destroyed a roll of toilet paper this week!)

Travis and I finally finished Season 4 of Ozark. I love me some Jason Bateman, but man, that show is intense! I wish it ended a bit differently, but I’m glad we finished the series. Now Travis and I need to find something else to watch together. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

Favorite Clothing Item:

Is anyone shocked that my favorite clothing item is a new pair of pjs?

I bought these a couple of weeks ago when both the top and the bottom were each on sale for $8. I’d pay full price for them though! They are cute and light-weight…perfect for summer!

I actually have this pair ready for pick up too. I will let you know how they are once I get them.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Me…all week!

Flashback Friday

In honor of Hadley’s dance recital this week, here’s a throwback to her first-ever dance recital in 2016! #pinchycheekcute

I had a couple of link up posts this week as well as one other one:

Also, before I go…we have our Not Just a Mom link up this coming Monday. The topic is dream travel locations.

If you are a blogger, we hope you join us! It’s the perfect topic as we dive into summer!

What are your plans for the weekend? We don’t have tons going on today, but Hadley will be a busy dancer this weekend! I can’t wait to see her routines!
