Monthly Musings

Hello!

How’s it going?

Today, I’m linking up with Patty and Holly for Monthly Musings. I love this link up because it’s a fun way to answer questions on a specific topic.

This month’s topic is Summer Fashion.

You know I’m no fashionista…and in the summer, I’m mostly wearing workout clothes, pjs, or swimsuit and a cover up…but here we go…

1. Favorite summer outfit?

Besides what I just mentioned above, this two piece set from Shop Style Your Senses is probably my favorite buy of the summer. It’s easy to dress up or down, and it’s super comfy.

This summer feels like the year of the romper, and while I’m not 100% sold that it’s my best look, this one is a go to and easy to wear.

I recently ordered this light-weight cap sleeve sweater, and I love it. It’s an Amazon find, and I wore it two times in Florida with denim shorts.

This week, I remembered these black shorts I bought from SSYS in the spring, and I think it’s a “nicer” look for dinner out.

2. Favorite summer footware?

I truly haven’t changed up my sandals much in the past few summers.

My Birks are still my “go to”…

Then, I mix in the rose gold Amazon slides or gold sandals. I still love the braided heeled sandals I ordered last summer if I need a dressier look. The comfort slides that I’ve had for a few years are still the sandals I wear the most to the pool. (I sized up one size in both Amazon sandals, and half a size in the braided heels)

3. What summer accessories are you wearing on repeat?

I don’t really change up my accessories…I’m still wearing my same bracelets from Daily Gold Co (I never take them off) as well as my Amazon bracelets too.

My favorite pool accessories are this bag from Walmart (I even used it as my carry-on for our Florida vacay…and then used it for the beach)

I have this SSYS swim cover up that I love…

…as well as my favorite one from Amazon that I have in light blue and navy. I picked up both of these last summer, and continue to love them.

4. What do you use for a summer bag?

Like my sandals, I haven’t really changed my bags up either. Again, I love the “summer” Walmart bag for my pool bag.

Then, most days I’m wearing this black cross body, but also brought the quilted belt bag on vacation when I dressed up a bit more but still casual.

I also use this cross body too when I’m a little more put together/less “mom mode.”

5. What summer scents are you wearing?

I also, don’t change my perfume seasonally. I always prefer something light and refreshing. For Christmas, Travis got me Perfect and Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs as well as Juliette has a Gun, and I still love all three.

6. Maxi dress, romper or jumpsuit?

Besides the pink romper above, I also wear the long version too.

7. Favorite summer sunglasses?

I wear this pair almost daily, but they cracked in my bag on vacation.

Hadley still loves the pair she got earlier this summer…

I also love my Quay sunglasses that I got a couple of years ago and wear them often. I wore them to the pool yesterday!

8. Favorite summer pjs?

Hands down my favorite summer pjs are the gauzy pink ones I found at Target last summer. This summer, I bought them again in gray and turquoise.

(top // bottom)

9. Do you wear white after Labor Day?

I don’t wear much white anyway, but I will definitely still wear my white jeans in September.

10. Favorite summer fashion trend?

Apparently my favorite fashion trend is not changing things up too much…😆

I do tend to wear some brighter colors in the summer…I don’t mind to do that when I’m tan. 😆

What’s your favorite summer piece in your wardrobe?

Friday Favorites {#164}

Hello and happy Friday!

I can’t believe tomorrow is July 1st! Where did June go?

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

After many days of rain last week, the sun finally came out on Saturday, and I enjoyed some time at the pool. I finished a book and started a new one. I was also able to hang and chat with some mom friends while Hadley ran around with her friends as well.

Not a favorite! I’m glad we got the pool time in because the past few days have provided hazy skies due to the smoke from wildfires in Canada!

I’ve had some one on one time with Hadley this week because Hayden has been in South Carolina all week with his friend’s family. I’ve really missed him, so I’ve loved getting the updates.

When meal planning for the week, I let Hadley choose a couple of dinners. I’m sure Hayden would eat both, but we’ve had salmon and chicken alfredo for dinner. She was a happy camper.

Apparently, Hayden got one of his favorite meals on vacation…oysters!

On Sunday night, Hadley watched a movie with Travis and me. We watched Flamin’ Hot on Disney +. It was about the guy who was a janitor at Frito Lay and later came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. It was a cute and funny movie with a great message.

On Wednesday, after Hadley’s eye doctor appointment, she and I went to see The Little Mermaid at the theater. It was sooo good.

Favorite Clothes:

I have this Shop Style Your Senses dress in two colors. I was excited to wear it for date night last Friday.

I bought this romper earlier this summer, and I’ve been wearing it quite a bit. It’s cute and comfy! I wore it to school one day this week.

After the eye doctor, Hadley and I ran to Walmart. Since I don’t go there often, I looked or a few things that I’d saved on the app…including these athletic shorts…that are only $7! They are buttery soft, and I got them in pink and gray.

Funny story about my black t-shirt. Travis picked it up at Kohls recently…he put it on, and asked if I liked it. I said, “Uhh…I think it’s a women’s shirt!” hahaha…He gave it to me!

Favorite Foods:

For our anniversary, we went to Jeff Ruby’s…while Travis ordered steak, I ordered some sushi. It was so good.

Hadley and I have continued baking once a month, and on Sunday, she made these Oven Baked S’mores. Let me just say it won’t be the last time we make them. Delish!

I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up a few things. I saw these Key Lime Tea Cookies, and oh my word…if you like key lime, you’ll love these.

Favorite Mom Meme(s):

I have bad news for those of you with little ones…lol

…and this one made me chuckle.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

Something about the 4th of July that always has me in my feelings a bit. I love this sweet memory…

Weekly Recap:

I found my blogging groove a bit this week.

What are your weekend plans? We don’t have a ton on tap, and I’m happy about that. I’m officially finished with summer school, and Hayden comes home tomorrow…so my weekend is already off to a great start.

I’ll be back on Monday to share my Amazon purchases from the month.

Thanks for reading!

Summer Staples

Hello and happy Thursday!

As I’ve gotten a bit into “summer mode,” I’ve taken note of some of my “must haves” for summer. I’m sharing those with you today!

I picked up this pool bag from Walmart this spring, and I have zero regrets. I’ve used my Scout pool bag for at least five years, but picked up the one at Walmart to use when I just need to pack a few things. So far this pool season, it’s the only one I’ve used as the kids tend to bring what they need in their backpacks…or if you are Hayden, you just throw the towel over your shoulder, and that’s all you need.

I’ve had these sunglasses since last year, and they are the ones I tend to use the most.

I got these for Hadley this year, and…

…she approves!

This cover up is absolutely one of my favorite Amazon finds last season. I have it in light blue and navy.

I bought this pair of Turkish towels last year, and they are perfect. I bring them to the pool the most over any towel because they are long enough to cover the whole lounger, and they dry quickly.

Of course sandals are a summer staple. While I have many sandals, I love my rose gold sandals (and Hadley has them in white). I also picked up these “comfort slides” a couple of summers ago. I have them in pink and white and wear them often. They are perfect for the pool, hot baseball games, and yard work. Plus, they are comfy and cute.

(I did size up a full shoe size in both.)

While I will often wear a ball cap, I have a couple of hats that I love. I got the hat below from Nordstrom almost three years ago. It doesn’t appear to be in stock, but I’ve had this similar Amazon one saved for quite some time.

I did order this one last year as another option, and I like that it has a strap if needed. I keep it in my pool bag.

It’s also perfect for a day on the boat.

It’s no secret how much I love my Kindle. It’s always with me poolside.

I went to the pool on Monday and had so many of my summer staples with me.

What are some of your “summer staples?”

Friday Favorites {#154}

Hello and happy Friday!

I’m really feeling the TGIF energy today. This week has been a good one but filled with lots of extras. Every day this week had at least one extra appointment on top of the usual evening activities, so I just kept feeling like I didn’t want to forget something!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week…

Favorite Picture:

Well, I have to start with the absolute best news…look at Hayden’s new smile!!

No more braces! Also, why was I more excited for this milestone than he was? After over 2.5 years, the braces are off!

Both kids had “phase 1” braces in second grade. They had them put on in January 2018, and had them for less than a year.

For Hayden, “phase 2” started in July of 2020 with a Herbst appliance. A few months later he got the braces, and the appliance was taken out in July 2021. Then, he continued with braces until this week.

It’s crazy to see how much older he looks too!

Favorite Clothes:

I wore a new dress from SSYS to Keeneland on Saturday. I want to buy it in another color, but I think they are creating a sleeveless version for the summer, so I will hold off for now. I love lavender, and just couldn’t say no.

**Also, I was inspired by Amy and visited Sun Tan City for a spray tan last week. I hadn’t been there in years, but I was so happy with the results.

(A week later, and I still have a bit of color!)

SSYS also has the cutest athleisure pieces, and this quilted top has been perfect to throw on over my workout tank and leggings. I’ve already worn this one three times in a week. I think they have some cute new pieces dropping this weekend.

Other faves from the week:

On Monday, the kids had their yearly checkups, and they always ask for ice cream afterwards. Parenting teens is a tough job, so I deserved ice cream too.

Last week, Travis came home from Kroger with these flowers, and said they were free. They still hadn’t bloomed after a few days, and I told him that I thought that’s why they must have been free. 😆

Well, they finally did start to bloom, but I don’t think a couple of them ever will. They are pretty and freshen up the living room.

At the first track meet of the season, Hayden hurt himself doing the long jump, so he’s had to sit out the last couple of meets.

Hayden is the distance runner, and Hadley is more mid/shorter distances. She loves the 200m, and also runs the 800, 400, and some relays. In the off season, she started training, and it’s been so amazing to see that translate to her races. In the 200, she came in 2nd out of 100 runners and is close to qualifying for state. She’s also on some relays which are fun to watch too.

I can’t wait for Hayden to get back out there.

4×200 relay

Kind of random, but I have a new favorite podcast. I loved the show Hey Dude! on Nickelodeon in the 90’s. Christine Taylor and David Lascher talk about the show, but also have a 90’s guest on each week. I’ve listened to their interviews with the Hey Dude cast, Ben Stiller (Christine’s real life husband), Scott Wolf, Melissa Joan Hart, and a few others.

It’s a fun listen!

Favorite Mom Meme:

Real talk:

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

Because I love the toothless phase so much, I have to share this one of Hayden.

*He actually had two loose top teeth and thanks to a play at first base where he crashed into the 1st baseman, he lost one and the other was super loose. The next morning, he woke up with the other tooth gone…we found it in his bed!

Truly, the toothless phase was my absolute favorite with both kids.

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

What are your weekend plans? The kids are running in a track meet tonight, and I’m hoping it’s not a torrential rain the entire time. The rest of the weekend, we actually don’t have much going on. I feel like we all need a bit of downtime to recover from this non-stop week.

See you back here Monday!

Monthly Musings

Hello and happy Thursday.

I love that Patty and Holly host this fun link up. I feel like it always has me thinking/planning ahead for the next season or holiday.

This month’s topic is: Essential Spring Fashion Pieces

Anytime there is the word “fashion” in the topic, I’m hesitant to post. I don’t know much about fashion… haha…but here are some of my ideas.

1. How do you transition your wardrobe?

I usually transition my (school) wardrobe by wearing dresses and throwing on a cardigan to wear to school. I love a dress…and I love a cardigan, so spring and fall are my favorite times to dress for school.

2. Favorite spring item?

I loved this cardigan so much that I bought it in two colors last year.

3. Favorite spring footwear?

Once the weather warms up and the sun starts shining, I really can’t wait for sandal weather.

Amazon has provided some of my favorite footwear over the past couple of years like these Birk dupes and a couple pairs of slides.

Also, I can’t wait to wear my Birks that I purchased from Nordstrom at the end of last summer. I wore them for as long as possible last fall.

4. Favorite colors you wear in the spring?

I will be the first to admit that I don’t gravitate towards tons of color, but I do love pink in the spring…and the summer (when I’m tan!)

Blue and purple are other favorite colors to wear in the warmer months.

5. Favorite spring accessory?

I don’t change my jewelry much at all. Spring and summer are the perfect time to wear a statement earring, but if I’m not wearing my regular stud earrings, then I’m probably “dressing up” with a gold hoop.

I’m still loving my bracelet stack which is a mix of Daily Gold Co and Amazon.

6. Ways to add spring to your outfit when the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Throw on a bright pink cardigan and go!

7. Do you change up your makeup routine in the spring?

Kind of link with jewelry, I don’t change much. Basically, I just change my foundation as I get more color in my face. I still love Seint makeup, and I’ve been wearing the “Amber” shade highlight in the winter, and soon it will be time to switch to “Mango.”

During/after spring break, I will start using my Jergens “Instant Sun,” and I’ve already started adding in the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze drops into my face moisturizer at night and am starting to see a bit more color.

Really, I can’t wait for summer as I rarely wear makeup…and I like to be tan!

8. Puff sleeve trend. Yes or no?

I’m not against a puff sleeve, and I’ve seen a few cute options. That being said, apparently I love a “flutter” sleeve right now.

9. Do you change up your mani/pedi colors in the spring?

I’m pretty traditional with my mani color. I pretty consistently wear some version of pink all year long. That being said, in the fall and winter, I will try darker colored nail polish.

Once spring hits, I lock in with Funny Bunny or Bubble Bath for my SNS. In the summer, I usually try dark pink or a turquoise for my pedi color. I hope to cash in a gift card over break and get a pedi.

10. Favorite spring tote?

I carry a smaller purse in the spring/summer. My gold cross body is a fave, and I like that I can switch out the strap to change it up.

While I still love this one that I got last year for when I’m more dressed up:

I did just purchase this saddle/boho purse, and I’m excited to try it.

I wanted to have another crossbody option that is a little bigger and more everyday. I actually ordered a few to try, and this one was my fave by far (and less than $20!)

So, now I feel like I have a small, medium, and larger version of a crossbody for the spring/summer months.

Ahh…I didn’t think I’d have much to add to this topic, but I was able to share a bit about some of my favorite spring fashion items.

On my “to do” list over break is to pull items from my closet that I didn’t wear this winter in order to tidy things up a bit before summer.

See you back here tomorrow for Friday Faves.

Hello and happy March 1st!

I’m trying to remember to snap a photo of what I’m wearing whenever I can, and today I’m sharing a few things I’ve worn recently. I always get inspiration from what others are wearing, and I’ve trying to shop my own closet when I can.

Here are a few outfits I’ve worn over the past couple of weeks:

My school is pretty casual dress, but I only let myself wear jeans on Fridays. I wore my Kentucky sweatshirt with jeans and my Ugg dupes a couple of weeks ago…the last time it was actually cold enough to wear my fuzzy boots!

That night, Travis and I went out to dinner…and it was cold out. I wore one of my favorite sweaters with jeans (that I found during my June closet clean out –they are old from Old Navy) and boots.

The next day, we went to the UK basketball game. I wore the same jeans as the night before with my blue Amazon sweater and sneaks. I thought about wearing my Kentucky sweatshirt, but since we were going to brunch, I decided to look a little “nicer” with a sweater.

I also wore this tunic with leggings and my leopard flats to school one day. It’s lightweight and perfect for these warmer (but not yet hot) days. I love that it has pockets.

This week, I wore this peach top with skinny pants, one of my favorite cardigans from Stitch Fix, and ballet flats.

I also can’t quit this quilted pullover from Shop Style Your Senses. I’ve been wearing it quite a bit. This week, I paired it with a light-weight long sleeve sweater that I got at Target last year, a gray pair of (old) Old Navy skinny jeans and sneakers.

What have you been wearing? The unseasonably warm temps have kind of thrown me for a loop. I still want to wear my sweaters a few more times….and I’m too pale to wear dresses just yet!

and…I’m linking up with Kellyann and Jill for Fashion Files on Thursday…

Fashion Files

Hello and Happy Thursday!

I’ve shared a few What I Wore Wednesday posts, but thought I’d link up with Kellyann and Jill this time for Fashion Files.

Here are a few outfits over the past couple of weeks…starting with a few school outfits.

School:

I got this heart sweater last year, and I’ve made a point to wear it a few times over the past month. It comes in a few colorways. I usually wear it with black pants or jeans.

This blouse was in one of my Stitch Fix boxes. I never buy myself blouses…button downs, sweaters, sweatshirts, yes…blouses…very rarely…and I’m not sure why…but most of the time, I keep a blouse that’s sent in my Stitch Fix box.

In these two photos, I’m wearing different black pants, but the same leopard flats that I got at Walmart a couple of years ago. I wear them often.

I loved this outfit because I felt comfy, cute and put together. Matilda Jane ruffles are my favorite, and I’ve had this tan turtleneck for years. I think it’s from Loft. I picked up these tan ballet flats a few years ago at Kohls, and they are always so comfy on my feet.

Last week, I tried to wear pink a couple of times leading up to Valentine’s Day. My pink Aerie sweatshirt is one I wear often…at both school and at home. This time I wore it with jeggings and my tan loafers.

Then, I wore one of my favorite sweaters of the season…this pink turtleneck sweater. I paired the sweater with this pair of navy polka dot pants that I got years ago at Old Navy. I love them because they button, but they stretch! The weather has been so mild that I’ve hardly worn boots this winter…and have been able to wear my mules more than I thought I would at this point in the year.

Weekend:

Here are a couple of weekend looks.

I ordered this quilted pullover from Shop Style Your Senses and have zero regrets. I couldn’t love it more. I’ve worn it to school with a long sleeve black shirt, gray leopard leggings, and then on Saturday to Hadley’s volleyball tournament in a bit more casual way. Both times, I wore my Shu Shop sneaks.

On Super Bowl Sunday, I wore my Chiefs sweatshirt that I ordered from Etsy shop, Sweet Momma Blair, last year. Since the weather was so mild, and I was being lazy/comfy, I wore my favorite Amazon joggers. I ordered these in the spring of 2020. I had them in two colors, but I donated the gray version I bought when I purged my closet/clothes in June. This is the first time I’ve regretted getting rid of something. I decided to order them again in dark gray/black yesterday. I know they will get a lot of wear in the spring. I also wore my favorite New Balance tennis shoes…these are not my workout tennis shoes, but ones I wear often more casually. I also ordered them in the spring of 2020. 😂

This week:

To keep it real and to keep me humble, this has been my outfit this week:

Unfortunately, Covid ran through our house this past couple of weeks and it was my turn…my sinus issues also turned into a sinus infection. Thankfully, I’m headed back to school today. I can’t wait to put on real clothes again.

Hello and Happy Wednesday.

We’ve continued to have pretty mild temps until Sunday, and then it’s really been feeling like January…but without the snow. *sigh*

It’s been a while since I’ve shared my outfits, so that’s what I’m doing today.

I started to track what I wore Wednesday to Wednesday. Most days, I’d remember to snap a photo with just a bit of daylight left. *sigh* not a fashion blogger!

Wednesday:

Looking back, Wednesday was about my only “pop” of color for the week. Hello winter wardrobe, I guess.

I picked up this pink Free Assembly popover at Walmart in the fall. I paired it with my joggers and new Shu Shop sneaks. This was a very casual Wednesday because it was a testing day.

Thursday:

On Thursday, I wore my black and white Target flannel with skinny pants and boots that I got at Nordstrom years ago.

Friday:

On Friday, I had to support the Chiefs with my Etsy sweatshirt that I got last year. I wore my favorite Loft jeans and Shu Shop shoes.

Saturday:

I was so tired on Saturday morning. To Hayden’s game, I just wore black leggings, an old sweatshirt, and my new Amazon boots (Ugg dupes) that my Gma got me for my birthday. I love them!

…and like a typical Saturday that is hair washing day, I wore a ball cap until after my workout.

That afternoon, I put my Chiefs sweatshirt back on for the game!

Sunday:

On Sunday, I wore an older Amazon dress with one of my favorite Amazon cardigans to church. I wore my brown Target booties too.

Then, it was back to leggings and sweatshirt for the rest of the cold and dreary Sunday.

Monday:

I knew Monday was going to be a long day. Besides school, I knew we’d be at Hayden’s basketball game most of the evening. So, I wanted to be comfortable both at school and after school. I wore black skinny pants, a gray H&M sweater, and my favorite leopard flats (Walmart clearance). I’ve had all of these pieces for years.

Tuesday:

Yesterday, I wore black pants that I got at Target last year with a light blue sweater that I believe was from a Stitch Fix order last year. Again, I wore my leopard flats.

This week’s worth of outfits feels a little “meh.” I kind of feel like I’m in a fashion rut, but not really wanting to buy anything new. This was probably the first Christmas that I didn’t really get any clothes and then didn’t shop for clothes after Christmas. (I guess I do enough of that year round!)

Skinny pants and sweaters are kind of my winter “go to,” but I feel like I usually wear more than gray and black! haha I guess gray really is my color.

Hello and happy Wednesday. All day yesterday, I kept thinking it was Monday…it sure felt like a Monday. So, I’m happy that we are to the mid-point of the week already.

I’ve shared Shop Style Your Senses in previous posts, but I have a few new purchases to share with you today.

I’ve followed Mallory (@styleyoursenses) on Instagram for years. She has/had a blog and would share her home and links to clothes. About four years ago, she started her Shop Style Your Senses business working out of her house. With the business taking off, she’s added to her team and even moved into a warehouse.

They have a website and an app, and I use the app to save favorites, follow them when they do live sessions and hear them talk about the products.

Since I’ve been pleased with the products, I thought I’d go ahead and put everything in a post.

A few purchases:

I bought this lightweight sweatshirt dress in the fall, and it was perfect to wear then. Now, it’s perfect to wear with leggings or tall boots.

This dress is my FAVE purchase. The fit is perfect for me, and the material is so good. While it’s sold out in black, it also comes in a “wine” color. Recently, they had a flash sale with 50% off anything, and I snagged this dress in the wine color too. I know it will be perfect for Valentine’s Day or for Christmas parties next year. Also, I’ve worn this dress to school with tall boots and felt very put together.

Recently, I ordered this hi low sweatshirt dress, and I love it.

I wore it to school yesterday with leggings and my leopard flats. I could (and will) also wear this with athletic leggings and sneaks, I’m sure. Also, in the spring months, I know I will wear it as a dress with sandals.

I did get the size large. I probably could have done a medium but then I wasn’t sure if it would be long enough for leggings which is how I knew I’d wear it.

I purchased this purple knit top (sweater) right before Christmas. It’s lightweight and perfect to wear with jeans or leggings. Besides purple, it comes in a light pink and mint color as well.

I did order size medium because I’ve come to learn that if they say “oversized fit,” I can probably do a medium in a top.

I just ordered this muslin baby doll dress in purple and can’t wait for it to arrive. I snagged it on Sunday night when Mallory did a live try on and shared many of their new spring/summer items. It comes in a variety of colors, and I do think Mallory said she’d be able to restock most, if not all, of the colors soon.

She also said when she purchased these dresses, she thought most would wear as swimsuit coverups, but once the ladies started trying them on, they realized it makes the perfect summer dress. While I almost ordered the medium, I went with large since that’s what I typically wear in their dresses.

A few other things…

Since Mallory started this shop, she’s really listened to her customers. Like I said, the app is amazing. Also, they do a good job with sharing about sizing. I appreciate that they show their clothes on various body types.

They’ve even started designing their own lines of clothing with the SSYS label.

For now, they only ship once a week, but with that comes free shipping.

The only thing that I wish they’d think about is returns. If you return an item, you only get store credit. I’ve only returned one item due to sizing, and the refund did go directly to my account, and I could see it in the app. At least then I knew they money was there, and I wouldn’t forget about it.

I’ve never ordered pants or shorts but Mallory shared some denim shorts on Sunday’s live that look so cute. I’m just not ready for too much spring and summer just yet.

Anyway, just like Avara and Red Dress Boutique, I’ve had really good luck with purchases from these boutiques. I think it’s fun to share “smaller” shops when we find them.

Four Festive Fits

Hello!

Well, ’tis the season for holiday parties which has me thinking about possible outfits these next few weeks.

Today, I’m sharing outfit ideas from a variety of places (online boutique, Amazon, Target, DSW, Old Navy, and Walmart). Some of these pieces I own, and others are just ideas.

I would have loved to try on more outfits, but lack of time and lack of daylight caught up with me.

Outfit 1:

This is definitely a dressier option. I actually ordered this black dress from Shop Style Your Senses. I have a few pieces from this shop, and have loved them all.

The clutch is a new fave of mine and is perfect for a more semi/formal occasion.

Then, depending on the weather, your mood, or the attire details, you could wear tall boots, heels, or booties.

dress // clutch // tall boots // strappy heel // bootie

Outfit 2:

I love this new blouse I picked up from Amazon recently (I have it in two colors!) paired with black skinny jeans. For a little holiday sparkle, these silver pumps (named “the Jen” –how perfect!) do the trick. My favorite quilted crossbody purse (huge price drop!) in black is the perfect accessory.

blouse // silver pumps // black skinny jeans // quilted crossbody purse

Outfit 3:

So, I actually tried the Vegan Leather Split-Hem Flare Leggings from Abercrombie & Fitch, but they were too long on me. If you are interested, it appears that they are now on clearance.

Proof that I know our phones are tracking us, these cropped ones (less than $20) popped up in a Walmart ad.

faux leather pants // sweater // clutch // strappy heel

I saw this pic of the model when I ordered the pants which got me thinking…

…about a similar outfit I could put together with my new “rose” colored sweater and glittery heels. Again, the clutch would be a perfect match for the heels.

(FYI: I ordered the pants in both medium and large and kept the medium)

*please excuse the dusty mirror

Outfit 4:

Nothing screams holiday like a plaid shirt.

I love a plaid shirt paired with denim or a skinny black pant. Red tartan and blue plaid are definitely my fave. You could wear the glitter pumps or stick with a more classic look with black pumps. Again, the quilted crossbody would be perfect for a more put together but not as dressy look.

red tartan button down // high waisted skinny pants // blue plaid smocked wrap blouse // black pumps // quilted crossbody purse

Proof that I’ve embraced plaid through the years:

I really do try to shop my closet first, and I always buy pieces that I can mix and match. Which outfit is your favorite?
