Hello and happy Monday!
It’s one of my favorite posts of the month linking up with these ladies:

This year we’ve discussed:
- Introductions in January
- House rules in February
- Day in the life (weekend edition) in March
- Cleaning hacks in April
- Pet peeves in May
- How we became a mom in June
- Top 5 favorite family activities in July
- What’s in my handbag in August
- Hobbies in September
- Money saving tips in October
This month’s topic is…comfort food.
This is definitely the time of the year for comfort food.
To me, comfort food is warm and hearty like chili, soup or a casserole.
Here are a few of my “go to” recipes that are definitely comfort foods:
I shared this recipe in my Friday Favorites post. I just saw it on Instagram, and decided to make it. It will definitely go into my cooking rotation as we move into winter.

It’s almost time for me to make our traditional Turkey Rice Soup. We use Thanksgiving turkey the day after for this soup.

Crockpot Cheese Tortellini soup

Bev’s Simple Chicken Pasta Soup

Major’s Chili
Pumpkin penne sausage pasta (My favorite thing to make in the fall!)

Andrea’s Creamy Rice casserole is so good!
One Pan Chicken Alfredo
Spaghetti: Million Dollar Spaghetti and Chicken Spaghetti
One pot Roasted Red Pepper and Sausage Alfredo
Mac and cheese! Mac and cheese has always been one of my favorite foods. While Hadley can live on the box of white cheddar shells from Trader Joe’s, my favorite is this one that I occasionally make, and when I do, I always wonder why I don’t make it more often. (maybe because of all the calories…haha)
Anyway, this was quite the list…and it’s inspired me to make some of these recipes soon! I can’t wait to see what others share as well.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
I can’t believe next month will be our last Not Just a Mom post of 2023. Our topic is favorite books/series. We’d love to have you join us!

I hope you have a great week!

I’ve really gotten into whole wheat and whole grain pasta dishes in the past year. I love a fancy mac and cheese – like fancy noodles and exotic cheeses. Aldi has shredded gruyere! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese side dish at Malone’s and OMG – cannot wait to get it again.
I made a really good new to me soup Saturday – love to do Soup Sunday in the winter. I plan to share it this week and I should have done this link up!
I also love a really good hot sandwich as a comfort food. We did fancy grilled cheese this summer with fig jam and caprese grilled cheese or I love taking a Trader Joe’s ciabatta bread and making a hot sub.

Ahhh grilled cheese! Yes. I should have shared that as an idea. My kids love those. Sometimes in the winter, we have grilled cheese and tomato soup.

And, just a big old baked potato is a great comfort to me!

When I was a kid, for my bday dinner, I’d always request homemade Mac and cheese. It’s the best comfort food

I do love this time of year for the comfort food. Those soups look so good, I feel quite boring now for just making soup with just vegetables!
