Target Tuesday

Hello and happy Tuesday!

Target is the real MVP of all the things, and lately, with some purchases, I’ve thought to myself “oh, I should share this!”…so I’m doing that today with a Target Tuesday round up.

Hadley has actually driven me to Target twice since getting her permit…I guess I’m already teaching her my ways! haha

Here are some recent finds that I’m loving:

So, I shared the bathroom update with these pretty white towels that I picked up at TJ Maxx…

…but I knew when I bought them that white probably wouldn’t be practical for everyday towels because, well, my kids still don’t seem to understand not to wipe their toothpaste mouths off with the HAND towel?!

Anyway, Memorial Day weekend, I was absolutely influenced by Landyn when she shared her cheetah pattern bath towels, and I saw that the Threshold brand also had the cheetah hand towel, and I purchased two.

I’m still keeping the white hand towels in the rotation, but I’m loving this neutral with the wallpaper.

…and I did what any rational person would do and I purchased two bath towels as well. We’ve had the same bath towels for quite some time, so I got rid of two and replaced them with these. They are just perfect.

When I purchased the towels, they were on sale, but they are absolutely reasonably priced and great quality.

I’ve already shared this tray, but it’s still one of my favorite parts of our updated bathroom. Online, it comes in three colors, and my receipt says I purchased the white one.

…but it most certainly looks cream to me. I love it…but I don’t think I would call it white.

On the same Target trip, I also picked up this little tray not knowing which tray would work best. I had every intention of returning it, but then I thought it looked so cute on the night stand next to our guest bed. Our guest bed situation is one that “bothers” me in that we don’t have a guest bedroom…just a bed in the basement.

So, I took this opportunity to keep it and put it on the bedside table.

On a second Target trip, I added this room spray and…

….this sweet little scallop trinket dish to the tray. I figured it would be good for jewelry or keys.

Y’all, I have this cute little corner in the kitchen where I usually keep a plant. The problem is that we don’t get a lot of sunlight in that spot, so time and time again, a plant doesn’t survive.

So, I decided to add that to my Target list, and of course Target has everything so, look what I found…this cute little fiddle leaf plant. I think this is just what we need in this spot. But, y’all, twice I’ve almost gone over to water it! I’m used to trying to keep a plant alive over in that little corner! haha

A few months ago, Travis got rid of my plastic cutting boards…he has his reasons, but I was so annoyed. I asked him if he was trying to cut our marriage short! I was truly so mad. Anyway, I saw this cutting board and bought it to replace one of the two that he got rid of on his purging spree.

This doormat continues to be a favorite…

…and was just what we needed to spruce up our front porch.

These wide leg sailor jeans come in so many cute colors. I have them in beige and blue. They are high rise, so I sized up one. When I bought them, they were on sale, but full price for $28 is worth every penny.

I’ve already worn both pairs a few times, and love them.

I wore the blue pair to a graduation party (with this sweater) on Sunday and the senior graduate complimented me on my outfit…enough said!

Ok, I’m not a fan of wearing shorts…I’m a leggings girl all the way. That being said, `Regan (@thebloomingnest) shared these flutter athletic shorts, and I decided to give them a try. I always size up in athletic shorts (just my preference!), and that’s what I did with these. I now have them in navy and black, and I really like them. Again, I got them on sale, but they come in quite a few colors with a $20 price tag. The “All in Motion” brand has been a good one for me.

I was in need of a couple new sports bras and have similar ones from All in Motion in the past. These are comfy and supportive!

Like I mentioned before, Hadley was with me on a couple of these Target trips. She usually has a list, but really all she needed was some more dry shampoo. We always get the Batiste brand, but I hadn’t seen the “brunette” dry shampoo. I guess it doesn’t spray white when you apply it to your hair. What will they think of next?

Have you done Target returns from your car?! This new feature is life changing as well!

So, those are some of my Target finds and faves! What would we do without Target?…especially Target pickup and exchanges! What a time to be alive!

Friday Favorites {#258}

Hello and happy Friday!

TGIF! After today, we only have one more Monday, one more Tuesday, two more Wednesdays, one more Thursday, and one more Friday…but who is counting?! haha

I saw a meme that said, “Am I finishing this school year or is it finishing me?”…and I think I’ve never related to a meme more!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

With such a hectic weekend, I didn’t really recap the volleyball tournament in Gatlinburg or Mother’s Day last weekend, so let’s start there.

Last weekend was Hadley’s last volleyball tournament for club season. I’m glad they were able to go somewhere fun for their last tournament and a place that they’ve been to before so we knew the lay of the land. We arrived around 8:00 on Friday night and got settled in. Hadley found friends and hung out…and I found friends too and enjoyed a glass of wine. It was almost 11:00 before we went to bed and then had to be up at 6:00 both mornings since their team played in the early brackets on Saturday and Sunday.

With the early mornings, I guess the trade off is that we had most of Saturday afternoon and all of Saturday evening to do whatever we wanted. After the three Saturday games, the girls hit up the water park, and I was lazy in the hotel room! We ordered pizza for dinner and while the girls ate pizza and played cards, I hung out with a couple of the moms.

Sunday, they had two games in the silver bracket. They played well overall, but were bummed to lose their last game on Sunday to finish up the season. That being said, it was a great season and a fun weekend!

We got home around 4:30, and when I pulled down the street, I saw hanging ferns which are my traditional Mother’s Day gift, and new planters for the front porch. I got a bit of a nap before taking a shower. Then, the kids gave me flowers and a card, and Trav made a steak dinner!

The flowers are from this flower bar that we have in town…meaning it’s a bar where you can get a beverage but also pick out flowers?! I’ve never been, but the flowers Hayden and Trav picked out are so pretty.

We finished the night watching American Idol, and I was absolutely ready for bed.

I missed the tradition of church, pic with the kids and brunch for Mother’s Day, but this one was still good overall! I felt the love 🙂

I’ve made a commitment to get back to moving this week. On Monday, I went to the gym and did the elliptical for 30 minutes. Tuesday, I did a 20 minute workout at home and took Homer for a walk. Wednesday, I went for a 30 minute walk and then swung back by the house to pick up Homer for a lap around the block. He wasn’t his usual hyper self, and I was going to go further, but when he saw our street, he turned to go down it. I told Trav that later and that’s when Trav told me he’d already taken him for a walk that afternoon. Obviously, two walks isn’t too much exercise, but he must have been tired!

I have a couple of favorite outfits this week…

Y’all, I’ve shared these linen pants before (I have two pairs!), but then I saw a shorter version (by a different brand), and wanted to give them a try for spring/summer. I love them too! I did size up one based on the original ones I ordered and returned. I paired them with this button down that I love as well. Also, I purchased a new pair of my favorite sandals. I looked back and I bought my other pair that I wear all of the time in 2021. It’s crazy how the straps/buckle are still in great shape, but I’d worn them to the ground. When I put my new pair on, it was like my feet got a hug! Apparently, I really needed a new pair.

Another favorite outfit from the week includes my new favorite pants (jeans?) from Target. I’ve seen these “high-rise sailor wide leg ankle jeans” (try saying that five times fast!) everywhere, and last weekend when I was scrolling my phone, I noticed that they were $16.80! So, I ordered them and the blue and the beige color. I did size up one since they are high rise, and they fit perfectly. The price seems to be back to the original $28, but maybe they’ll go on sale again…and if not, they are definitely worth $28!

I wore them with another favorite Amazon blouse and my tried and true Amazon cardigan.

Look at this fun mail that I received! One of my mom’s friends who reads the blog (hi, Sheila!) sent me this search AND color Golden Girls book. Can you even?! This is such a thoughtful gift!

Bathroom update…we had the tub resealed, and it looks brand spanking new! We’d debated pulling the tub out and getting a new one, but our neighbor who has been helping us suggested getting our tub resealed. That saves on labor and cost, and it’s the original iron tub…so most likely whatever we replaced it with wouldn’t be the same quality.

She’s beautiful!

This weekend, I think we’ll get the shower head and tub fixtures installed, and that should pretty much wrap up this project! I truly love walking by the bathroom and seeing her in all her glory! I will share a before/after post soon.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Haha! This one is so true!

Weekly Recap:

The end of the school year schedule is really catching up with me, so I only have two other posts this week, but they were fun to write:

What are your weekend plans? We have a busy Saturday and a chill Sunday…which is kind of our “normal programming” these days.

The weather on Sunday looks beautiful, and I’d love nothing more than to sit on the back patio, get a little sun, and read a book!

I hope you have a great weekend.

Friday Favorites {#249}

Hello and happy Friday!

I hope you’ve had a great week. Ours was good with the beautiful weather, and we seemed to have some downtime in the evenings which was appreciated!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week…

Starting with this meme that made me laugh…and it definitely relatable!

It’s very rare that I actually go into Target as I often do Target pick-up. Last Saturday, Hadley and I ran some errands, and she needed a few things. The dollar spot immediately stopped me in my tracks. I saw these neutral ric rac place mats and thought they’d be just what I needed under our jute place mats. I was a bit behind, and just put away my winter dishes, and got back out my everyday dishes. These cute floral ones are almost twenty years old! They were on our wedding registry at Pier One. Man, I miss Pier One!

I was “influenced” and ordered this All in Motion “airy” fabric zip up jacket. For all the clothes I have, I do lack in light weight jackets. When I got it, it was on sale for $25, but I also think it’s worth the $35 price tag.

The fabric is so soft, and I like that it cinches at the waist.

Well, I’ve also been “influenced” by Hadley. She occasionally drinks an Alani, and that’s had me taking a few sips. I think she’s tried most of the flavors, but now it’s my turn. I took one to school this week, and the “orange kiss” flavor is good.

The kids’ track photos came in, and they are so good! I really appreciate the smiles!

I’d joked with the track coach that if they got a decent pic together, they’d be off the hook for Mother’s Day! They did get a couple of pics together, and this one is my fave.

My girl…right before her summer job interview on Wednesday. Not sure that I’ll look back and remember that this photo was right before that moment, but I’m sharing it anyway.

I’ve been loving my new candles from Antique Candle Co. My order arrived a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been burning Almond Vanilla, and it’s so good.

I ordered two candles and got one free. These will last me the next couple of months. I’ve burned a bit of the lavender vanilla, and it’s so great for spring. Sweet lemon will be great for spring and summer.

I saw this pic on Instagram and X….twin fillies! Rare and precious! (FYI -these aren’t at Trav’s farm.)

Favorite Mom Meme:

Both my kids have had two rounds of braces, and let’s just say if there’s ever a third round, that’s on them!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

2015 was such a cute year!

Onion ring entertainment at dinner…

…and sweet little drawings…and booster seats!

St. Patrick’s Day:

Well, this weekend, I’ll make my traditional corned beef, cabbage, and Irish soda bread! We can’t wait.

Here are the recipes if you need an easy and delicious meal to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week:

Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading.

Friday Favorites {#132}

Happy Friday, y’all! How was your week? I’m definitely ready for the weekend… I can tell you that much!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

This week’s favorites are just my favorite(s) of each day. I’m trying to take a moment to look at the little and big moments of each day.

Saturday:

As I shared in Monday’s post, Hayden had state cross country on Saturday. It’s hard to believe that his second middle school season is over. He’s ready to come back stronger and faster next year.

Sunday:

Sunday was one of my favorite days of the year…we went to the pumpkin patch!

Then, it was Hayden’s turn for the “you are special” red plate for the end of his 7th grade cross country season.

Monday:

On Monday, the temps cooled off significantly, and I was ready to dress for fall! I picked up this plaid flannel at Target and love it. It’s a high/low style, so it’s long enough to wear with leggings, but I wore it with jeggings to school. It’s definitely oversized, and I settled on the medium after the large seemed too roomy (I ordered both sizes and returned one). I didn’t realize when I ordered it, but it has pockets. Win, win!

Tuesday:

After school on Tuesday, I stopped by the library for a couple of books I had on hold. Like last year, I wanted to read at least one Christmas book in November before reading a few more in December. I decided to go ahead and request a couple and these were ready for me:

{Side note: please let me know of any holiday/Christmas book recs you have!}

Tuesday evening, Hadley joined Trav’s club season group for a run. I reminded her how cold it was outside and to dress warmly. She came out wearing sweats and said, “I look like Major!”

His “Majoriform” is definitely sweats and tennis shoes. He likes to keep it comfy 24/7.

Wednesday:

Wednesday afternoon, we were headed out the front door, and our trees stopped me in my tracks. The sun light was hitting them just right. I always love how beautiful the leaves are, but then I feel like they don’t stay on the trees long enough.

Thursday:

On Monday, I saw that Antique Candle Co. was offering 25% off their Tree Farm candle, so I went ahead and snagged it! It arrived yesterday. While I’m still savoring the days of fall, I know this will be a favorite scent in colder months.

Also…

Cross country photos came in this week. Trav’s brother took the team photos, and they turned out amazing!

And…I know this guy! Travis was interviewed on TVG. So proud of him.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Y’all this is a bone of contention at my house. Nothing drives me crazier than the cup upside down in the sink (I tell Hayden he’s like the Wet Bandits…this is his signature move!), the toilet paper roll on the counter, or the backpack in the middle of the floor!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

OMG…this pic from 2012 is one of my faves. This was before Kroger Clicklist. The kids loved riding in the car shopping cart. My first stop would always be produce to pick them up an apple to snack on (of course, I’d pay for them at check out!). This kept them busy while I shopped as quickly as possible!

Do you know how many “Bless your hearts” I got while out shopping with these two?! I sure miss those days.

Weekly Recap:

I was a busy blogger this week. Here are my posts:

What are you up to this weekend? Travis will be working quite a bit, but the rest of us don’t have as much going on. A Saturday with no sports…what is this life? The same can’t be said about Friday evening and Sunday afternoon! We’ll make the most of the weekend, I’m sure.

Thanks so much for reading.

Fall Fashion Finds

These cooler mornings have me ready to dress for fall. That being said, our extended forecast has highs in the upper 80’s going into next week. *Sigh*

so…currently me:

http://www.sweatpantsandcoffee.com

Oh the irony of sharing my tidy closet yesterday and now the new items that I’ve purchased recently from Target and Walmart.

Amy had shared this dress from Target, and I saved it on the app.

Well, over Labor Day weekend, Target had a 30% off sale, so I went ahead and snagged it in green and gray. ($17 each!)

Well, if you give a mouse a cookie…I noticed the boots on the model, and figured they had to be from Target. I found them, and they were also on sale for $30. They are a western style boot, so I wasn’t sure if I’d like them, but *newsflash* I do! I got them in tan which seems to be very limited in stock, but there are other colors. The tan, cognac, and gray are a suede material whereas the other options (black and off-white) appear to be leather.

After my closet clean out this summer, I did make note that I was due for a new pair of tall boots. The pair I parted ways with were about ten years old. I also got rid of a couple of pairs of ankle boots, and decided to give these a try in tan when I saw they were also on sale for $28. They also come in gray, cognac, and olive green.

Please excuse the wrinkly dresses, but I just try things on and snap photos when I have a few extra minutes.

Army green color dress with ankle boots:

Gray dress with tall boots:

No picture, but I wore the olive colored dress to school on Tuesday with a cardigan and sneakers. It was a good put together but comfy outfit.

I usually wear a 9, but sized up in both to a 9.5 because of the narrow toe. Both fit perfectly.

Again, I’m not one to “power shop” like that, but I had a feeling the dress and the boots were going to be “hot ticket items” this fall. Plus, with the sale, I was saving money, right?!

Walmart has been upping their game the past couple of years, and when Ashley shared this Free Assembly Walmart dress and popover top, I wanted to give them a try too.

The dress comes in pink as well!

Here it is paired with my Target ankle boots:

I wore the dress yesterday with some gold sandals that I’ve had for years.

I really wanted the popover top in gray or green…

but I bought it in pink as the other two colors never seemed to be in stock.

I think it will be perfect with jeans, workout shorts or leggings with a tank.

Now if Mother Nature would take the hint, I’d love to be able to wear the boots and popover without breaking a sweat!

See you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites.

Summer Style from Target

Hello! How is your week going? I swear the summer weeks go by so quickly.

I laid low most of this week, but that forced me to tackle my closet. I’ve been needing to purge my closet for over a year. If you’ve seen any of my Insta stories, you may have seen that I’ve made some major headway.

Well, I had to make room for some of the favorites I’m showing you today. I typically buy some new summer clothes in June and then promise Travis I will slow my roll in July. I just like to have a few summer staples to get me through the hot months as well as vacation.

Here are some of my recent Target finds:

I’ve already shared these pjs (top // bottom) with you as a Friday favorite, but here they are again! I love the shade of pink, and the material is so soft. I actually sized down in these, and they come in a few color options.

I needed a few new tanks, and I love the cut of this ribbed tank. I picked it up in navy as well as light green and blue. (There 13 color options!)

Before vacation, I wanted to pick up one more cover up, and saw this terry tank dress. It was with the swim suits, so I assume it can be a cover up or a dress. The terry style reminded me of my childhood swim cover ups!

I was in need of a new sports bra, and this one is cute, comfortable, and supportive. I have it in mauve and teal.

Of everything I’ve purchased recently, this dress was my only “impulse” buy. I thought it looked like a dress that could be dressed up or down…or even used as a cover up. It’s light, flowy, and perfect for summer. I sized way down to a small.

A tank dress is always my “momiform” for the summer. Also, I will wear tank dresses (long and short) to school with a cardigan. I love that you can wear sandals, flats or tennis shoes with them. This one comes in a variety of colors, but I love the blue!

Ok…time for the real dress of the summer! Amy has shared this dress a few times on her blog which prompted me to pick up the mauve color. I ordered it in a large and a medium.

This is the medium, so I returned the large.

I loved this dress so much that I was curious about a size small to compare, so I ordered it in green.

This is the small:

….and then I decided to keep both! Like most decisions I make with dresses, I love to buy something that can be dressed up or down, and that I can wear to school. I would throw this on over a swimsuit too if needed.

It looks like there’s limited stock and colors, but the white seems to stay in stock, and as I type this, the mauve has some sizes left.

None of my shoes are from Target, but here are the links in case you are interested!

  • flip flops -( I have had these for years…and have two pairs: rose gold and steel gray)
  • thin strap sandals – (I’ve shared these before –that they are so comfy, but sometime make a weird airy sound when I walk)
  • faux Birks – (Hadley has these in white, and has worn them faithfully for two years. I bought the rose gold pair last summer and wear them ten times more than my real Birks. I sized up to 10 instead of my regular 9)
  • braided heel sandal– These will be my sandal of the summer. These are stylish and comfy.

Target and Amazon continue to be the real MVPs in my life! What are your summer “go to” items?

See you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites.

What’s Up Wednesday

It’s the last Wednesday of the month (Y’all, how is that even possible?!), so I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What’s Up Wednesday.

I have to start off by wishing my husband a Happy Anniversary!! Today is our 15th wedding anniversary. Again, y’all….How is that even possible?! He may be wondering the same thing! 😂I couldn’t do life without him and love and appreciate him more than he’ll ever know! #cheersto15years

WHAT WE ARE EATING THIS WEEK:

  • Sunday: I mentioned in my Father’s Day post that we had kabobs, pasta salad, watermelon, and asparagus fries for our Father’s Day menu. Then, we had lemon freezer pie for dessert.
  • Monday: I kept it simple and put Trader Joe’s Traditional Carnitas in the slow cooker with Trader Joe’s Salsa Verde and cooked everything on low for 4 hours. I mixed my carnitas in with one of my favorite Trader Joe’s salads: Southwestern Chopped Salad. I only used half of the salad. Travis and the kids had hard shell tacos and tortillas for their carnitas.
  • Tuesday: I hadn’t planned for it, but we ended up having enough carnitas for leftovers on Tuesday which was perfect because Hadley had dance and Hayden had baseball. I paired the tacos with Trader Joe’s Mexican Style Roasted Corn. (another fave!)
  • Wednesday: Pork loin, bagged salad, and Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes (Hadley’s fave!)
  • Thursday: Travis and I are going out to dinner, so the kids will have dinner at home.
  • Friday and Saturday: We’ll eat out (or get carry out)

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Where the heck the time as gone?! We got married 15 years ago today in my hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. When I look back on these years, I always tell Travis he seems to never change (He doesn’t even age, dang it!), and I always feel like the hot mess. Any ups and downs we’ve had in life, I feel like he’s handled with grace and wisdom…and I’m just over here fumbling. Thankfully, we strike a good balance with our personalities and how we handle things. That being said, I blinked in we were wrapped up in full time careers with two very active kids. Jobs and kids are both a blessing, but we do have to continue to work to make time for each other. Thankfully, we give each other grace and are each other’s biggest supporters. It’s been a blessing to grow together as a couple, and I’m sure we’re forever a work in progress (at least I know I am! 😉 I’m very thankful every single day for Travis White!

Thanks to my dad, we had a police escort from the church to our reception.

WHAT I’M LOVING:

As you can tell from my menu this week, I made a trip to Trader Joe’s! Their peonies always stop me in my tracks. Peonies, hydrangeas, and tulips are my favorite flowers.

In the spring and summer months, I usually buy flowers once a week for a couple spots in our home.

These guys bloomed over night!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

Baseball practice for Hayden, a dance workshop for Hadley, running errands, and just a little of this and a little of that.

WHAT I’M DREADING:

Hayden is getting his Phase 2 braces soon. I thought he was getting them yesterday, but at his appointment, they took impressions and put spacers between some of his teeth.

Phase 1 was in 2nd grade and lasted about 9 months. This time, he will have top and bottom braces as well as rods to help with his overbite. So, I’m not dreading the braces for myself (obviously), but I just know they will be a big adjustment and a bit painful at first for him. He’ll have them for about two years. Hadley is due as well but we are holding off a bit for her as his ortho work is more extensive.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

I’m working on drinking more water. I bought this water bottle...and it’s not small! BUT…I fill it up 2-3 times a day and am definitely drinking more water. I like that it has a handle and straw with a cap and I do find myself taking it with me wherever I go.

Also, we are working on crossing some things off of our Summer 2020 list.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

I’m excited to go to one of our favorite restaurants tomorrow night for dinner to celebrate our anniversary.

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

I’m still binge watching Good Bones and just finished this season of Top Chef.

On Netflix, I’m still chipping away at Dead to Me and only have a few episodes left of Sweet Magnolias.

I’m close to finishing Simple Wild on my Kindle and have started One in a Million that I picked up from the library recently.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

I just finished Even the Rich Season 3 which was all about Beyonce’ and Jay Z. I love this podcast!

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Target has been my main source for summer wear.

I love both of these shorts by Universal Thread because they can be casual or dressed up.

Also, this pink dress is super comfy and comes in a variety of colors. Again, it can be dressed up or down.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

At the moment, I’m not sure. I’m happy to continue to not be too busy on the weekends! Hayden does have practice Friday-Sunday evenings, but other than that, we don’t have solid plans.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

I’m looking forward to possibly visiting family in KC next month.

Also, I love the 4th of July, so we are all looking forward to that. Last year, Hadley was away at camp on the 4th, and it just felt so different without her home. We saved sparklers for when she got home.

Also, Trav’s birthday is in July! I doubt he wants a birthday parade, but he’ll for sure get our traditional birthday cookie cake!

2019

Thanks so much for reading today’s post! Make sure to check out the other ladies’ posts too!
