Friday Favorites {#117}

Hello and Happy Friday!

I have a full posts of favorites so I’m going to hop right in to the link up with Andrea and Erika.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Favorite Activities:

Hadley’s dance recitals were a highlight of the week for sure!

Hayden is playing summer basketball, and he had a couple of games this week. The summer league is super low key which is nice.

Hadley had another swim meet this week. The butterfly stroke is one that she’s been working on, and she finally got to swim it in the meet on Wednesday night.

She swam in two relays and then all four strokes, so she was a busy girl! The heat index was over 100 during the meet. I was about to jump in and join a relay!

Last Saturday, Hayden went to run on the track for his workout and took a detour at football camp. He saw Will Levis (QB for UK), and got his photo taken with him. He was so excited.

Favorite Summer Scents:

I really need to quit buying candles, but I couldn’t pass up the $11.95 sale on three wick candles at Bath and Body Works.

I specifically went into the store for the Champagne Toast and Fresh Orange candle. I love both of those scents, so I knew this would be a good one combined…and it is.

While I was there, I also picked up the peony candle and put it next to my Trader Joe’s peonies. (Tell me it’s summer without telling me it’s summer!)

I change out my garden flags pretty regularly, but I didn’t have one that was summery. This one arrived earlier in the week and is perfect for summer.

I got this dress last year and have worn in a ton.

I decided to wear it to Hadley’s recital with my new braided sandals.

Also, the dress is one I turn to time and time again. I’m actually thinking about ordering the pink or sleeveless version of it before vacay!

You all know that I share my Amazon purchases once a month, but I could’t wait to share these sandals. I wore them to her afternoon recital with white jeans and then again for the evening recital with the dress. After the recital, I was on my feet for a couple more hours at my friend’s birthday party, and they were so comfortable on my feet.

I originally ordered my regular size 9, but when they arrived, they fit…barely. My heel was right at the edge, so I thought I’d compare with a 9.5. That size wasn’t available anytime soon, so I tried the 9.5 wide. I don’t have a wide foot, but these fit perfectly…much better than the 9.

Since I couldn’t love these sandals more, I decided to go ahead and share now rather than wait for my July Prime Purchases post.

Other Faves:

My niece Layla turned five at the end of May, and was overdue for a birthday gift from us. On Monday, we hit the mall (along with Hadley, my mom, and my sister-in-law) for a quick lunch and then we stopped in the Plush Shop for her to pick out a gift. She came home with “Princess Owlette” (Also, don’t you love her princess necklace?)

On the way out, we picked up cookies for everyone at Great American Cookie as one more birthday treat.

Later that night, I got this photo at bedtime which I thought was really sweet.

My mom came to visit and was able to see both Hadley and Layla’s recitals as well as one of Hayden’s basketball games.

Last Sunday, my brother’s family and my mom joined us at Boonedogs for a late lunch. The food was good and the weather was really nice. The kids were able to run around for a bit too.

I got the Greek dog –with cucumbers, feta, sun dried tomato, garlic lemon sauce and fried capers. So good!

Last Friday, I shared some new fave Target pjs, but I also picked up this set. I’ve worn them almost every night, and a shameless amount of time during the day. The pink color is very summery, and the material is so soft. I did size down in this set.

Throw on some flip flops, and I feel like I could leave the house in these. 😆

Favorite Mom Meme:

Even as the kids have gotten older, this struggle is still very real!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

In honor of Father’s Day, here’s a throwback to probably 1982…back when the Major smoked a pipe and rocked a mustache!

…and this meme for fathers everywhere!

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from this week:

What are your weekend plans? Hayden has a race tomorrow, and then of course, we’ll celebrate Travis on Sunday for Father’s Day.

Prime Purchases: June 2022

Hello! Well, I didn’t mean to take Monday off from blogging, but a couple hours at the pool on Sunday turned into staying until 7:00, a lazy dinner, and an episode of Ozark with Travis…which I guess is how summer should be.

It’s the first Tuesday of the month (I actually had to check my calendar!), so I’m linking up with Tanya for this month’s

This month I bought…

I have quite the assortment of purchases this month…

Shoes

Well let me start off with a random situation. These thin strap sandals are SO comfy (and so cute) I’ve worn them to school all day long, and my feet love them. That being said, they make an airy sound when I walk. I checked with Amy, and hers do it too! Let’s just say I won’t wear them on testing days at school! So random.

These block heeled sandals were perfect for Hadley to pair with the dress she wore to friend’s bat mitzvah.

She danced the night away in them, and loves them.

Pool Season

It’s pool season which means I’m looking for all my beach towels. Honestly, I haven’t bought any new towels in a couple of years.

I wanted to try these Turkish towels because I like how light and long they are.

They are officially my “go to” pool towel.

I also picked up these thicker cabana striped beach towels, and they are great quality and super soft.

Is it even summer if I don’t buy a new swim cover up?

I love this cover up so much that I will probably get it in one more color before the summer is over.

This & That:

Right as the school year was wrapping up, my favorite pens were starting to run out. I decided to go ahead and buy a new pack to finish out the year.

We logged a lot of time bleacher sitting between baseball and track this spring. I have a nice cushy stadium seat that Travis got for me, but I went ahead and picked up this two pack of Coleman stadium seats to keep in the back of the car. I purchased them right before my dad visited because I knew he’d need a seat at the track meet.

Confession: I love a tennis skirt…and I don’t play tennis! I actually have a couple that I love that I got at TJ Maxx a couple of summers ago. (Pro tip: TJ Maxx has some great workout wear options!), but I wanted a new one, and this one is perfect!

Summer uniform (just can’t wait to have tanner legs!)

What are some of your summer Amazon purchases? See you back here tomorrow for Let’s Look.

Spring Shoes and Sandals

Hello! Happy Friday Eve! Our weather started off soooo cold this week, but it’s turning the corner with highs in the 70’s and low 80’s this weekend. The warmer weather combined some recent shoe shopping got me thinking about spring shoes and sandals.

I always treat myself to a pedicure over Spring Break, and then I’m annoyed with the cold weather we have off and on in April and May which means I can’t wear my favorite flip flops and sandals.

Today, I’m sharing some recent shoe and sandal finds that are perfect for spring, and some of my tried and true faves as well.

DSW:

Every spring, Hadley’s foot has typically grown enough (she now wears a women’s 7.5) that she needs a new pair of flats for church and Easter. Our Target was picked over, so we ended up at DSW. I always forget how many shoes they have!

After only a few minutes in the store, Hadley chose these ballet flats in the beige color. They are cute and comfy.

Once I knew we were going to Keeneland last weekend and the weather was on the cooler side, I wanted a pair of close toe wedges. I have a variety of booties and a favorite pair of open toed wedges, but thought I’d check out DSW again. I found these and love them. I tried on my regular size 9, and they fit. Well, I compared them to the 9.5, and actually did purchase the 9.5 because they seemed to fit the best.

I wore them to Keeneland on Saturday and church on Sunday, and they are so comfortable. I know they will look great with jeans or white pants too.

I’ve had these Nine West wedges forever…I’m talking at least six or seven years. They are my “go to” dressier sandal option. They’ve been through it all, and when I went to take the pic really noticed how much they’ve been worn.

Here I am wearing them…

So, I have my eyes on this pair at DSW for a replacement. I will see what I may need for spring before buying them, but I saw them in the store and took note!

Target:

Hadley saw these on one of our Target trips, and we picked them up for her to have as a summer option with dresses. She usually has a pair of ballet flats and sandal flip flops, but I thought these were very age appropriate for her. She got them in the cognac color, and she loves them.

She wore them for Easter and gave them rave reviews.

I saw these when we were at Target, but they didn’t have my size. I’m having flashbacks to the 80’s, and I’m sure my mom had a similar pair of these. I’m definitely going to keep them in mind once summer is in full swing.

While I’m sharing sandals, I figured it’s a great time to share some of my faves from Amazon.

I wear these rose gold faux Birks whenever I can! I bought them last summer because Hadley had them in white from the previous summer. She still wears hers often and they’ve held up beautifully. I did size up to a 10 in these, and that’s a better fit.

40,000 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️rating

Here are Hadley’s white faux Birks and then comfort slides that I have in both white and pink. I purchased both pairs last summer (and sized up to a 10), and they are perfect for the pool or sitting out the ball fields.

Comfort slides 47,000 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️rating

These sandals were the purchase of summer 2021, and I didn’t even buy them until the end of the summer!

It looks like my exact pair isn’t currently on Amazon, but here is a similar option. (with almost 3,000 four star ratings)

I’ve seen so many share the braided heels, and Target has a cute option that goes in and out of stock. I have my eyes on these from Amazon. The memory foam insoles are a selling point for me 😉

I need to go through my shoe sitch ASAP before adding more to the mix. That being said, I know there are some shoes and sandals in my closet that haven’t been worn since before the pandemic!

Hopefully, warmer days are ahead because I’m ready to wear my spring sandals.

See you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites.
