Happy Saturday!

Well, this Saturday post kind of snuck up on me. Next Saturday will be April 1st. How is that possible?

Anyway, since it is the last Saturday of the month, I’m linking up with Jennifer for her fun end of the month post.

This month I’m…

Loving:

Two new bracelets that I’ve add to my stack. I added the rose gold bangle first a few weeks ago. I loved it so much that I purchased the silver cross bracelet next. These are less than $12! Can you believe that?

So far, I’ve worn them both almost 24/7 with my other Daily Gold bracelets. That being said, I take them off before I shower just because I’m not sure how they will hold up. Otherwise, they’ve been the perfect addition.

I loved my black SSYS quilted tunic so much that I purchased it in grey (size large). I think grey is mostly sold out, but they also have it in pink and navy in more sizes.

I can’t wait to wear it even more in the spring.

Reading:

I’d read the first book in the American Royals series, but had forgotten about the other books. Majesty was available on the Kindle, so I added it recently. I’m enjoying it, and might just go ahead and read the third book after I finish this one. I see the 4th book is coming out later this summer.

It’s been a while since I quit on a book…but I was 40% through Family Remains and just couldn’t do it anymore. I will share more about my thoughts next week when I share my March books.

Eating:

Oh my word…we tried a new recipe earlier this week thanks to Andrea, and it was so good. This Taco Pie was perfect and hit the spot. We had it for dinner Monday and Tuesday along with green beans and salad. Then, I still had some for lunch on Wednesday.

You know I love a recipe if I take the time to write it on a recipe card to save forever which is what I did on Wednesday.

Ordering:

Well, Easter baskets hit different when you aren’t a little kid: {sigh}

With only two weeks until Easter, I need to order a few things. Of course, in their baskets, I put some candy, but then I always pick up a few others things. Gone are the days of sidewalk chalk and bubbles, but I’ve always picked up a few things for summer like swimsuits, flip flops, or goggles. Any good ideas on what I should get my teens? I think I’m going to make a list this weekend and place and order or two.

I hope your weekend is off to a great start. See you back here on Monday for some of my favorite memes!

Hello and Happy Saturday!

I’m linking up with Jennifer (Overflowing with Thankfulness) for this fun Saturday link up.

Every month, we are sharing what we are are loving, reading, learning, and eating.

Loving:

Overall, the month of February was so mild. I kept hoping for a big snow, but we never got one. Not only no snow, but we had many days with temps in the 60’s and even some mid-70’s! If the weather is going to be like this, then, at this point, I hope it stays this way. Let’s just move on to spring and then summer.

A few months ago we bought a Keurig/coffee pot combo. I’ve tried a variety of K-cup flavors (my friend dropped off some options when we first got it), and Toasted Graham is my favorite. I’ve also now started buying the Green Mountain brand, and the Brown Sugar Crumble is another one I’m loving.

Reading:

I just started Spare. I was so excited when I got the library notification that it was my turn to download it to my Kindle. I will say, I’m having a hard time finding time to read lately. I’m somewhat panicking that I won’t get it finished before it’s due ten days.

I will share my February books next week!

Learning:

I’m (re-)learning how to be a dance mom for my #1 dancer:

It’s dance competition season! She had so much fun last year:

I can’t wait to see what her dance studio accomplishes this year.

Here’s a quick list of what dancers need on competition days: costumes, dance shoes, tights (and backup tights), makeup, eyelashes, hair pieces, bobby pins, stage earrings, safety pins, band aids, studio team t-shirt and jacket, hairspray, snacks, water and more!

Eating:

Well, I’ve been nibbling on cake all week..

On Monday, Hadley made Shay’s Red Velvet Bundt cake and homemade cream cheese icing!

Meals out:

I’ve also enjoyed many meals out this week (which is rare!)…

Sushi date with Travis last Friday night,

…brunch out with friends before the UK basketball game last Saturday, and…

…dinner out with my friend Natalie on Thursday night.

Meals at home:

Otherwise, these were the meals we had this week:

  • Shay’s Sweet Potato and Sausage Hash
  • Shay’s Taco Tortellini Soup
  • Tomorrow night, I plan on making Shay’s Beefy Cornbread Casserole

I didn’t realize I’d only made Shay meals this week until I typed this post! šŸ˜‚

I hope your weekend is off to a great start! I’m spending my weekend watching my #1 dancer shine on the stage.

Hello and Happy Saturday!

Guess what happened yesterday? I got up, poured myself a cup of coffee, sat down on the couch…only to hear my phone vibrating. It was our school district calling at 6:15 to tell us we have a snow day. I looked outside and saw no snow and pretty dry streets. Well, apparently, the northside of town was a disaster with icy roads, wrecks, and stalled traffic on the interstate.

I’m not sure if we’ll have to make this day up or not, and I kind of hate to have a snow day with no snow, but that’s what we got.

Anyway…

Today, I’m trying something new! I’m linking up with Jennifer (Overflowing with Thankfulness) for her monthly Saturday link up: Share 4 Somethings

Every month, we are sharing what we are loving, reading, learning, and eating.

Loving:

I am loving this quilted pullover from my favorite boutique, Shop Style Your Senses. I love how it can be worn multiple ways. It comes in three colors, and I think they are all sold out for now, but this shop is one that I love.

Reading:

Just finished reading Remarkably Bright Creatures, and it was SO good. It could be a top read in 2023. I didn’t want it to end.

I also started reading Carrie Soto is Back, and I think I’m really going to like it.

I will share my January books next week.

Also, I shared that I’m going try to do this A to Z challenge this year. Well, I’m now realizing maybe I’m supposed to read books in ABC order? I’m not. I’m such a rebel. I just thought it would be fun to fill this in as the year goes on. As I have some spaces left, I will have to be more intentional with my titles, I guess. It’s just something different to do.

Learning:

This girl has become quite the baker. She has certainly learned how to bake all kinds of things including cakes. One of my friends and her (grown up) daughter baked a cake each month of 2022. Hadley and I are stealing that idea for this year.

With January almost over, we baked on our day off yesterday. Hadley did 90% of the work! This chocolate chip cake was so good.

Eating:

…well, now I’m eating cake šŸ˜‚ but…

for the past month, I’ve subscribed to a meal plan that has been so convenient. Every Friday, Elizabeth posts a meal plan for the week with one new recipe. She tends to follow the Faster Way plan, and while I don’t necessarily do that, I still intermittent fast and have been trying to clean up my eating. I usually end up using two lunch ideas and two dinner idea each week, but they’ve been so simple, and I love that I truly don’t have to think about what we are going to eat.

Also, I have lots of cookbooks I use, Pinterest, and recipes from bloggers, but I had just gotten to the point where meal planning and making a grocery list were the last thing I wanted to do. So, I’m paying $15 a month for a few months just to get some ideas and get me through the start of the new year.

This was such a fun link up. I’m going try to remember to join Jennifer every month.

I hope wherever you are that you are staying warm!
