Friday Favorites {#284}: Fave Gifts

Hello and happy Friday!

TGIF, am I right? I’m typing this on Thursday when there’s a good chance for snow and a possibility of a snow day on Friday. What could be better than that?

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites.

Today’s Friday Favorites post is a little bit different, but with less than two weeks until Christmas, I thought I’d share a few favorite gift purchases from the past and a few that are on current wish lists.

First of all, have you heard of the Giftful app? This is the second year Hadley has used it, and it sure has come in handy. She added some ideas for her birthday and Christmas, and they are linked with sizes. Then, you can “claim” the gift, so no one else purchases it. Also, you can follow people on Giftful which makes for easy shopping.

Her little captions are too funny…and she has a wish list for car accessories too. (FYI – the kids don’t have a car…yet) She’s a hoot!

So, let me start with her…

Teen Girls:

This sunrise alarm clock is on her list…and honestly, she needs some help waking up in the morning! haha

She loves hair tools, and this hair waver is something she has her eye on.

Are you even a teenage girl if you don’t ask for a portable speaker?

This compact vanity mirror was a hit a few years ago. She did get rid of it once we updated her room and got the bigger vanity, but this smaller one worked well too.

Teen Boys:

Well, Hayden is definitely harder to buy for, and certainly doesn’t give many ideas.

He didn’t ask for Ugg slippers, but I see so many boys wearing them. Of course, there are more budget friendly options too.

He hasn’t really entered the cologne world, so I thought this pack of solid colognes might be a good stocking stuffer.

I can’t remember a time when Hayden hasn’t had a mini basketball hoop. He had an over the door one forever, and then a couple of years ago he got one for the basement. Even though he doesn’t play basketball as much as he used to, he still will play on the mini hoop.

Are you even a teenage boy if you don’t ask for a Nike hooded sweatshirt?

I don’t even want to tell you how many water bottles I’ve purchased through the years, but this stainless steel one is very durable and has lasted him quite some time.

Husbands:

I bought Trav this “Battery Daddy” a few years ago, and it truly was a favorite. We keep it stocked and in the hall closet for whenever we need batteries.

I got Trav some “Goodr” sunglasses from a local running store a few years ago, and I see so many people wearing them. Some shops have quite the variety of colorways and styles. These seem popular too.

My brother had these joggers last year, and highly recommended them, so I bought them for Trav last year too. They are great! The fabric is smooth and stretchy perfect for jogging and working out. They have side and back pockets that zip as well. Trav wears them a ton.

These beer mugs are perfect for a frosty beverage. Trav loved this gift.

These grilling baskets seem popular.

A few other ideas:

Trav has horse sales in the winter, and these rechargeable hand warmers are something I got him a few years ago.

I gave a similar fleece wrapped shawl to my mom or Gma a couple of years ago. I love the pockets!

This electric tea kettle was something I asked for a few years ago, and then I got one for my mom. We use it quite a bit for things like Ramen and hot chocolate, and it’s perfect for tea drinkers.

A few other ideas: candles, pretty stationary, Story Worth subscriptions, and photo calendars are other favorite gifts I’ve given through the years.

These wireless earbuds are my current faves. I purchased them for myself last summer, and they have worked perfectly for my needs. They are wireless, waterproof and noise canceling. I love using them to listen to podcasts or my audio books.

I feel pretty good about where I’m at with gifts, but I still need to purchase a few more. Mostly, now I’m just waiting for gifts to arrive. Then, it will be time to wrap everything…which isn’t really a favorite, but I did buy a couple of new rolls of wrapping paper….maybe that will put me in the spirit.

Weekly Recap:

I had a few posts this week…

I hope you have a great weekend!

Prime Purchases: January 2023

Hello,

I’d love to say, “Happy Monday,” but this Monday morning brings the end of break. Teachers report back today, and the kids come back tomorrow.

Also, Happy 2 0 2 3!

I love that Tanya is continuing to host this link up this year, and I always love seeing what others have purchased.

This is a super sized post/gifts edition. I purchased these items over the past few months but didn’t want to share until my people had received the gifts 🙂

Random:

The shower in my bathroom had very little pressure and was taking forever for the water to get hot. Finally, Travis ordered this new shower head, and my showers are back to being amazing. Also, goes to show what little I know about plumbing. The water gets hot immediately now. It was taking up to five minutes before I would even get warm water.

The rest are gifts. Amazon sure came in clutch again for me this year.

Hadley:

Here are a few gifts that Hadley received:

  • She gets her love of pjs from me. She sent me a pic of plaid flannel shorts/button up that she like from Aerie. By the time I went to order, they were sold out. She ended up really loving these green plaid pjs.
  • I’d seen these “varsity letter” bags all over the internet. I figured the “stuff” one would be good for when we travel. She took it with her to KC, and would hold it up and say, “I better get my stuff together” 😂
  • She requested a pair of “Ugg like” slippers, so I sent these to my mother-in-law as a gift idea. Hadley has worn them most of break, both inside and outside of the house!

Hayden:

Here are a few gifts Hayden received:

  • I thought this light up Chiefs sign would be great for his room.
  • He’d been wanting a medal holder for a while now, and I chose this one because it has a shelf for trophys as well.
  • This Under Armor jacket was at the top of Hayden’s list.

Trav:

Travis continues to be hard to buy for, but I picked him up a few things via Amazon.

  • This Under Armor shirt is great for running.
  • I was going to put this LED magnetic tool in his stocking, but ended up wrapping it. It’s a flashlight that has a retractable/flexible neck, but it’s also a magnet for picking up things. I figure he can mostly use it for the flashlight feature.
  • This travel power strip was already used on our trip to KC/hotel stay. It has four outlets and three USB ports, so we could charge everything in one spot.
  • This waterproof dry bag is something I thought Travis could use especially during cross country and track season. The number of times we’ve tried to keep towels dry for after a race or keep wet running clothes from getting other things wet are too many to count. I could see where this would come in handy while camping as well (We don’t camp…just another suggested use 😆.) They come in a variety of sizes, but I got the 5L one.

Stocking:

Here are a few stocking stuffers I picked up:

  • This pack of sticky note “to do” lists made the perfect stocking stuffer. I put one in everyone’s stocking (including mine and my mom’s stocking) I’m going to take the remaining ones to school.
  • I put this bottle opener in Trav’s stocking.
  • These spider clips looked like something Hadley would wear, so I put a couple in her stocking. I kept one for myself, and then she gave the other remaining two to friends.

Other gifts:

Here are a few other gifts I gave (or received!)…

  • My Gma suggested a warm and cooling neck/shoulder wrap as a gift idea for her. I got this Sharper Image brand one, and she’s already used it and loves it. I didn’t realize that it was scented, but it does say “herbal aromatherapy,” so I should have known. It’s a “lavender and herb spa blend” which does smell like a spa!
  • I saw this stove top glass teapot as a gift suggestion and thought my mom would like it. It’s pretty, so it can sit out, and it can be used on the stove or microwave. It includes two teas.
  • My mom mentioned a belt bag for travel, but I thought this cross body seemed more practical because it holds so much more. It comes in a variety of of colors.
  • My mother-in-law got me this dough bowl candle, and I can’t wait to use it.

January is my self-imposed break for Amazon, but I did order a few things after Christmas that I plan on sharing in February.

I’m off to a faculty meeting with a strong cup of coffee! Have a great day.

Friday Favorites {#50}

Hey there and Happy Friday! How was your week? We certainly are trying to get back in the school routine. Setting an alarm has been a struggle! The kids just started back yesterday, so I know they are thankful for the short week!

I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Favorite Pic:

These pics from the holidays got lost in my camera roll, so I thought I’d share it today.

We visited the “Magic Tree” over break which is always a fun experience.

Favorite Kid Quote:

Hadley’s new thing is to say, “Yass Queen!” when talking to me…and it makes me laugh every time.

Favorite Moment:

We went roller skating on Monday afternoon with the kids’ pod. It was a fun activity to get everyone back together and excited about the new semester. We are still learning virtually, and while it makes my heart hurt for my kids and my students, I’m thankful my kids get to have this pod experience with their friends.

I picked right back up where I left off in 1991…and the kids were impressed that “I’ve still got it!” They had no clue what I was talking about with the Limbo and couples skate. 😂

Favorite Clothing Item:

I’ve been wearing my favorite Amazon sweater on repeat! I have it in two colors (pink and navy blue) and have worn them over workout clothes as well as skinny jeans and leggings.

Favorite Food:

No favorite food, but it’s been nice to get back on track eating healthy! I’ve made that a priority ( as well as drinking more water) over the past week, and I hope to keep it up!

Favorite Gifts:

Here area few of our favorite Christmas gifts:

Kids:

My grandma gave Hadley some jacks, and both kids have been loving playing. My mom, brother, and sister-in-law all got in on the fun too. My kids have played for hours and hours…with minimal fighting 😉

Hadley:

I ordered Hadley this bracelet, and I was so excited to give it to her. I’m hoping it’s something that will last for years.

Hadley also loved her new slippers and…

A few “vintage” shirts from my aunt.

Hayden:

Hayden loved his new golf book and golf clubs.

Trav:

We got Travis some new joggers.

And…I purchased this beanie with head lamp for him to use when jogging.

He was also very appreciative of the Snicker Doodle cookies my mom made for him as well as the beer that my dad gifted him as well.

Me:

Per usual, I felt very spoiled with gifts. I loved the Kendra Scott necklace, earrings, and bracelet that Travis and the kids gave me. The necklace and earrings match and are a mix of pink and blue—a nod to my boy and my girl. Very thoughtful. I also loved the jewelry dish they got me. I needed ones of those!

Hadley gave Travis and I each a rolled up piece of paper tied with pretty ribbon. When we opened them, we found this collage of pictures from the night before that she’d organized and printed. She’s a sweetheart. I’m going to take mine to school to put on the wall near my desk.

Lastly, my mom gave me Air Pods. I wasn’t expecting those, and hadn’t even asked for them, but she said I’d been a good girl! 😆

Homer:

Homer received a new bowl, this new collar, and he also had a bone in his stocking! Santa must have forgotten all of the things that were #homered this year.

I do love the new collar…Travis has a similar belt that’s like a horse halter with name plate. Homer looks super handsome in his upgraded collar.

Favorite Mom Meme:

I saw this meme and laughed. Y’all, it’s so true!
