Summer Shopping

Hello and happy Tuesday!

When I’m out and about running errands, I like to snap pics of cute things that catch my eye…and I’m sharing some of those with you today.

One of my favorite things about summer is having time to run errands whenever I want. Friday, after I cleaned up my classroom for summer, I kicked off my summer break by going to Walmart, Lowe’s and Target. At Walmart, I was looking for some PJs, at Lowe’s I was looking for a bird bath, and at Target, I was looking for my favorite Chobani creamer…S’mores flavor. I had success at all three places!

Here are some of my recent finds…(and my apologies in advance for the number of times I say “cute” or “fun”!)

Homegoods:

While I didn’t buy this pouch, I couldn’t love it more!

How cute are these patriotic finds at Homegoods?

This Laura Ashley bag was less than $20, and I couldn’t resist it. It might be my new school bag, or it’s just a good overnight bag.

These melamine plates stopped me in my tracks. The set of four are just my style!

I’ve used them for my breakfasts lately, and they are a lovely way to start the day.

Walmart:

I love the Joyspun brand, and I have many Walmart pjs. I actually purchased two sets of this ruffle shorts set in the blue and white striped and the green pin dot color way.

Speaking of ruffles, how cute is this ruffle hem tank? I sent a photo to Hadley because I thought it looked like something she might like. She approved, and it was only $20, so I got her the xs. It’s super cute, and I knew she’d get lots of wear out of the blue/white for the 4th and/or Kentucky games!It also comes in “popsicle orange,” but it looked more red/white (to me) in person. There’s a matching skirt as well, but I only purchased the tank.

Aerie:

Ok, Aerie gets me every year…especially in the summer. They have a great sales, and I love their lightweight sweatshirts and shorts.

This was my fave combo last summer:

And, over the weekend, I went to the mall, and got this mockneck sweatshirt in yellow and light blue.

I also got the shorts in black and light blue. I love these types of shorts because they are perfect for summer…running errands, sleeping, lounging or poolside. They can’t be beat.

At Home Store:

I went to our local At Home Store a couple of weeks ago searching for new stools for our island. While I didn’t find any that I liked, I couldn’t say no to this rattan rechargable lamp. The end of our hallway doesn’t have electrical outlets, so I love that rechargable lamps are all the rage! This is the 20 inch lamp, but they also have a 12 inch one. I might just have to go back for it too.

I charged it once I brought it home, and I have the lamp on quite often and haven’t charged it again yet!

World Market:

In the past six months, I’ve become a World Market girl! I just love going and looking around. I’ve found so many cute icon glasses there as well as candles, cards, and holiday decor.

Whenever I see anything in this light sage color, I stop and contemplate buying it!

I love my white Dutch oven that I have had for a couple of years, so I was practical and didn’t get this one…but I love it so much.

This pineapple basket is so fun…perfect for a patio. (I didn’t notice these glasses in store, but I couldn’t love these more!)

If I had a beach house, these lobster jars would for sure come home with me! (There’s a matching serving bowl too!)

I did peruse the the icon glass selection, and resisted, but the palm trees are so fun. The floral glass mugs are too pretty, and the Care Bear tumbler was a blast from the past!

I’d never seen the icon glass canisters, but they are also so fun!

It’s almost Father’s Day, and the “Dino-mite Dad” and “Papa Bear” mugs are too sweet. The tools and mustache icon glasses would be great for a dad who loves bourbon on the rocks!

These pillows add a touch of whimsy, and all could apply to me. haha!

At World Market, I showed restraint and didn’t purchase any of the above items, but I did buy some colorful matches, a graduation card, some butter knives (because, like forks, they seem to disappear around here!), a marble spoon rest, and a votive candle.

I enjoy “window shopping” even when some of these fun finds are hard to resist.

Friday Favorites {#100}

Hello and Happy Friday! Apparently, this is my 100th Friday Favorites post which makes this Friday even better.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s FF post.

This week was pretty hectic for me both personally and professionally, so this may be a somewhat quick post!

Favorite Moment(s):

I’ve loved watching the Olympics. As a matter of fact, I’ve been staying up too late to watch! It’s so exciting to watch these athletes, and also heartbreaking sometimes too. I mean, Mikaela Shiffrin sitting on the side of that mountain for over twenty minutes about did me in. I was like, “Someone go give that girl a hug!”

My first ever Antique Candle Co order arrived. As you all know, I love by Bath and Body Works candles, but when ACC had come candles 40% off, I went for it.

I ordered:

Fall Harvest (and will save for the fall months)
Homemade Gingerbread (perfect to round out this last month of winter)
Vanilla Bean
Sweet Lemon
and…I didn’t know that they often include a 2 oz candle, and they sent me Grapefruit.

So far, I’ve burned the Gingerbread, Vanilla Bean, and Sweet Lemon.

I love them all.

I think our Valentine’s Day cards for our family turned out really cute.

Even though the Chiefs lost, I couldn’t resist including us in our red!

This Hayden and Homer selfie is just precious too!

Favorite Food:

I love Taco Soup, but haven’t made it it yet this year. It sure did hit the spot Wednesday night for dinner and then lunch leftovers yesterday.

Favorite Clothing Item:

I can’t believe that I haven’t shared this sweater yet with y’all! I have it in two colors. Over Christmas break, Hadley and I went to the mall and stopped in Aerie. I bought it in the Rose color while in the store. Later, I purchased it online in Monaco Blue. I wear it with leggings, denim, and even nicer pants to school. Both times I bought this sweater, it was on sale which makes it even better 😉

Favorite Kid Quote:

Valentines Day and people asking to be Valentines with each other are hot topics in middle school. Hadley said, “Everyone is finding a Valentine this year. And to think…just last year we thought boys had cooties!” 🤣 Made me LOL.

Favorite Mom Meme(s):

This bulk meme is my life…and also applies to buying bananas.

This! Not saying I had it tough in the 80’s, but I’m not sure my kids would last long in 1985.

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

I’ve always been great with multi-tasking. I really stepped up my game when I became a mom. I carried both Hayden and the clean laundry upstairs at one point!

I always say about Hadley #sassysincedayone Here she is stealing my drink in 2013.

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites {#41}

Happy Friday! We’ve had a good, but busy, week around here! Sometimes getting back on track after a break can be difficult, but we all rallied to get it together with our schedules, school, work, and activities. I hope you’ve had a great week too!

Per usual, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for their weekly Friday Favorites post.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Favorite Food(s):

Saturday, after we returned home from Asheville, we headed to my brother’s house because my mom and Gma were visiting. My Gma made sloppy joe’s and tots for dinner. My brother made this delicious cake with apple butter and homemade icing!

I hosted Sunday night dinner with soup and cornbread. I tried a new recipe my dad shared with me where you use a box of Jiffy cornbread mix and yellow cake mix. It was delicious.

The kids (with the help of my mom and Gma) made the first pumpkin pie (for us!) of the season.

This was our dessert on Sunday night!

Also, on Sunday, I went to Trader Joe’s with my mom, Gma, and Hadley. I’d just been grocery shopping, but picked up some of our Trader Joe’s faves.

Favorite Moment(s):

Of course, my most favorite moment was having family visit. It’s hard enough having family that lives far away and then throw Covid into the mix which makes it even more difficult.

Honestly, we didn’t do much, so I don’t have any pictures except Hadley did a countdown selfie on Monday morning before they left…which meant no makeup and very tired eyes. 😊

I mentioned last week, that Hadley earned the red plate for dance, cross country, and because her teacher shared such positive thoughts about her on a phone call home.

It was Hayden’s turn for the red plate for his efforts with school and sports.

And…Hadley picked up her flute yesterday. 5th grade band starts next week, and she wanted to give the flute a try!

And after Hadley got her flute…

Hayden got…braces. And, while that’s probably not a favorite, he does have a good attitude about it all and is happy to move onto this next step of the phase 2 process.

Favorite Kid Quote:

My kids weren’t funny this week. Kidding. Kidding. I just can’t think of a specific example as I type this post.

Favorite Pic:

Still reminiscing about our Asheville trip…

but then we returned home to the leaves on the trees starting to show off!

Favorite Clothing Item:

I’ve seen all the people talking about this Aerie sweatshirt, and when I saw it was on sale, I went ahead and purchased…two! I will say I’m wearing them on repeat. I tried on the small and it fit, but I liked the over-sized fit of the medium, so I could wear it with leggings. Also, I do feel like I may be too old to shop at Aerie, but not mad about this purchase 😉

I also love the corded option in Mystic Mauve.

and, yes, y’all–I moved my mirror to the hallway for better light! …but I’m still headless.

Other Faves:

My mom brought this basket with her that she found after cleaning her garage. I do give her a hard time about the fact that she always brings things with her when she visits. She made this basket many moons ago…and it actually does look perfect on top of the antique cabinet (from my dad’s side of the family) in my kitchen.

This kids finally received their yearbooks from last year. The covers were so cute with their school pics on them. (I probably paid for that extra touch and have forgotten. 😂) I love looking through the yearbook as much as they do!

Hayden went to a friend’s house for school on Tuesday, so I told Hadley I’d treat her to lunch. She wanted Jason’s Deli, so we had lunch together before she headed outside for recess.

I clicked on my Netflix app to add a show to my viewing list, and saw that Hadley changed our profile pics….which she does often. It’s always funny to see what she chooses. The pic for Hayden cracks me up the most!

Favorite Mom Meme:

This of all the Mom Memes I’ve shared has to be funniest one I’ve seen! Every time I read it, I chuckle!

Friday Funny:

My mom shared this with me and then I saw it again on Facebook 😂 My love for the GG runs deep…and Dorothy’s side eye is on point!

FYI she was a very serious baby for the first year of her life. 😳

Speaking of pumpkins…(I feel like I’m always speaking of pumpkins)… We hope to start the weekend off right with a trip to the orchard! I see more pumpkins and apple cider donuts in my future!
