2023 Blogging Recap and Fave Posts

Hello and happy Friday!

Wow, this week seemed to fly by. After Christmas on Monday, I spent a couple of days sick with a sinus infection. I’m feeling better now and was a bit more productive yesterday.

Of course, I have to wrap up the year with one more Friday Favorites link up with Andrea (and Erika), but today I’m sharing some of my favorite posts that I wrote this year.

A few stats from the year:

  • Total words: 165,006
  • Average words per post: 690
  • Best day: Friday; Best hour: 8 am
  • Most popular day: March 14 with 928 views

I started this blog as a hobby in August of 2019. I’m always blown away that people read my posts.

Some all time stats include:

  • Visitors: 90.9k
  • Post published: 945
  • Countries: Readers in 93 countries have read at least one of my posts. That will never not blow my mind.

While some big time bloggers have my annual views in a day, it’s just been fun to see this blog grow year to year.

I love when readers take the time to “like” or comment on a post. I really appreciate and enjoy interacting with my SM&ST readers.

Favorite posts from 2023:

Last year, I shared my 10 favorites posts. This year, I kept a running list throughout the year of posts I really enjoyed writing and sharing.

I ended up with a list of 20, and here they are in the order that I wrote them.

1.

I loved starting the year participating in WordPress’ Bloganuary (and I think I might do this again this year!)

Two January Bloganuary topics were ones I enjoyed writing.

20.

I also had fun with the ABC’s series – summer, fall, winter.

Bonus:

I loved our trip to Julep Farm, and that trip recap is filled with so many pretty pictures and details about that beautiful property and surrounding areas.

Weekly Recap:

A week of recaps…and one more favorite post that I write every year is when I share the books I read and my top 5 favorites…

I have one more “recap” to go! Come back on Monday when I take a look back on 2023 as we kickoff 2024.

Until then…Happy New Year!

  1. A fun time to look back on blogging for the year; I was surprised at some of my most viewed posts for the year and like you though my numbers aren’t huge they are huge to me! I saw that Hulu has all the old Who’s the Boss and told my husband that when we’re done watching Everybody Loves Raymond with the boys we should try “the Boss” next and see if they want to watch it. I started watching the first episode and it’s so funny to see all the 80’s fashions and things.

  2. I agree with you and Joanne! My numbers aren’t blogger huge, but they are amazing to me as a hobby blogger. I had so much fun reading those 20 posts, too! After reading your Bloganuary posts, I am going to try some of them this year. I think I’ll be a day behind though. I have really enjoyed reading your blog and can’t wait for next year! Happy New Year!

    1. Bloganuary was fun. It was a nice “challenge” to write all 31 days. I stuck to most of my content but loved to sprinkle in their topic suggestions especially on weekend posts. I feel like I have a bit more time in January, so that helps too.
I love reading your blog too!

  3. Love this! I always look forward to your posts and I’m so glad we have become “blog friends”! I still want to meet you IRL but I know how busy you are when you come to the ville! Maybe someday!
