Hello Monday

Hello and Happy Monday!

It’s the best kind of Monday….one where I don’t have to set an alarm!

I’m linking up with Sarah and Holly to share about the weekend.

Here’s a peek at the weekend:

Travis stayed home with Hadley on Friday to take her to the doctor…she had strep…again.

Right after school, I headed to Kroger to pick up her prescription and a few other odds and ends.

I’m telling you …just like last time, even though I feel better, I’m still really tired at the end of the day. So, once I checked on Hadley and get her situated, I took a nap!

Travis picked up pizza for the kids to have for dinner while we went out for our belated Valetntine’s Day dinner.

We went to one of our favorite sushi places, and it was so good.

We weren’t gone too long, but it was nice to go out. The kids have been re-watching Outer Banks since season 3 is coming out soon. They continued to watch tv, and I read on my Kindle. I went to bed around 10 as did Hadley. She really wasn’t feeling well.

Saturday morning, I was up around 7:30 and had some quiet time. Then, I started watching the J Lo documentary on Netflix. Once Hadley was up, she watched it too.

Then, it was time for me to shower and get ready because…

Travis and I were going to brunch with our friends. We went to Carson’s which was a great way to start the day before…

…going to the UK vs. Tennessee game at Rupp. The Cats dominated most of the game, and it was a great game to watch.

Once we got home, Travis and Hayden went to running practice while Hadley continued to take it easy. I finished my Kroger order, put on comfy clothes, and finished watching the J Lo doc with Hadley.

After that, I tidied up around the house before watching some of the Mizzou game. They didn’t have a great game, so I quit watching around halftime.

By that time, Travis had gone out to meet his brother for dinner, and the kids continued watching Outer Banks. Hadley really wanted soup and grilled cheese, so I went to Jason’s Deli to pick up dinner.

While the kids continued to watch Outer Banks, I watched a couple of episodes of NCIS Hawai’i before reading a bit and going to sleep about 10.

I was up around 7:30 and then read for over an hour. I really wanted to finish my book:

Everyone who’s mentioned this book has loved it, and I did too. I can see it being a top read for me in 2023.

I’m loving the Everything bagel from Trader Joe’s, and I toasted one up, and then Hayden and I watched an episode of The Rookie. I love that show, and Hayden started watching it with me this season.

Then, I started to do a few things around the house like take down the Valentine’s Day decorations and clean up the kitchen.

Then, it was time for my Kroger grocery pick up.

After that, the kids played outside most of the afternoon (which I guess offset how much OB they watched this weekend)

Hadley and I were going to bake our February cake, but she was outside with her friends…and I was glad she was feeling better. Strep is a bummer, and she’s been getting it pretty often lately, but with rest and 24 hours after taking meds, she always seems to bounce back. We may be visiting an ENT doc soon to talk about tonsils.

While they were out and about, Travis ran some errands, and honestly, I was lazy. I was so tired. I continue to feel run down, and I’m hoping to continue to turn the corner. My throat even started to hurt…but I told myself it couldn’t be strep. haha I definitely don’t have time for that.

When Travis got home, he did bring me a fountain Diet Coke from Jimmy John’s. A fountain DC is my love language.

I read, watched tv, worked on this blog post, put away some laundry and cooked dinner.

That’s about it. Starting next weekend, I’m not sure the next time we will have a free weekend. So, I decided to embrace the extra down time, let the kids watch more tv than normal, and let us all catch up from the past two weeks of not feeling 100%. We even missed church again, but it’s the third Sunday in a row where someone in our house has not felt well. I’m thankful the weather was so nice yesterday and the kids were able to hang outside with friends.

Today, we have a few things to do including more laundry, prepping Hadley’s dance costumes for competition season, and a few other odds and ends. I’m grateful for this extra day do to the things I probably should have accomplished yesterday!

I hope you had a great weekend.

  1. I know exactly what you are saying about a nap. Some days I need a 20-30 minute cat nap to reset. I too have been sick for about a month with a cold and UTI. My son also has strep. The doctor said it is going around again.

    1. Oh no! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick. It seems like there’s always something going around. I’m think I’m ready for spring which will hopefully mean less germs!

  2. I think you did just what you needed yesterday! I was able to sit outside for an hour or so even though it was windy. That sun did good things for my soul. What a fun day Saturday with brunch and the game.
So sorry about Hadley! You all have had a rough few weeks – that is for sure.
I am excited about Outer Banks even though it is super cheesy! Tom even watched the last season.
I am sorry about your busy season coming up, but hopefully it won’t be as bad as you think and hopefully it will be fun, too!
Listen to what I scored recently – Did you hear that the Tuesday before Derby is now called 502uesday or something? Oaks used to be for locals, then Thurby was for locals, then Werby.. and it’s all gotten so big! I got $5 tickets for Tuesday and plan to go. I was so happy with myself. It’s just general admission, but I thought it would be fun to go again.

    1. I sat outside for a bit too. It was so nice. Windy, but nice haha
Travis has watched the previous 2 seasons with the kids. He’s such a cool dad. Lol
I haven’t heard of 502uesday. That’s awesome! I need to tell Travis about it.

  3. So sorry to hear you are all still struggling to stay healthy! I do love how quickly antibiotics help with strep though; thank goodness for modern medicine! It sounds like a nice and relaxing weekend and we all need those from time to time.

  4. I’m glad Hadley started feeling better again! I wonder if one of you is a carrier for strep- one of the five of us were (are) and my oldest son Graham used to get it pretty often. I’m surprised nobody ever mentioned a tonsillectomy for him. I hope you start feeling back to your old self soon! It’s hard coming out of being sick. Take care and enjoy your day off, my friend.

    1. Thank you. That’s interesting about being a carrier. I’m not sure! She got it last May for the first time in years. I was shocked when they said that’s what she had. Then, she’s had it 3-4 times since. I think if she gets it once more (even though I think she falls in the time frame now), they may refer us. We’ll see. Taking it easy this morning and then need to be productive

  5. Strep has been running around our school like crazy lately! Thankfully the meds kick in quickly and kids feel better soon. I hope you get your energy back soon. I am glad you’re feeling better but covid can take you down! Thanks for the reminder about Outer Banks. I want to start watching that with Jack. Good for you enjoying your calmer weekend. Have a great week!
