Prime Purchases

Hello and happy Monday!

Y’all, I forgot all about Daylight Saving Time until Friday when I read a couple of other blog posts! Then, I forgot all about it again until Saturday night…when I went ahead and set the clocks back.

I know it’s an annoying adjustment, but I definitely appreciated the extra hour yesterday.

As I always do on the first Monday of the month, I’m linking up with Tanya to share my Amazon purchases.

This month was pretty much all about me. Whoops. That being said, a few purchases were from late September, but I wanted to wear them before sharing.

Here are my purchases from the month:

Before our fall break trip, I picked up this cover up and swimsuit. I haven’t bought a new swimsuit in a couple of summers, and I can pretty much say the same thing about swim cover ups too.

Anyway, I thought this one would be a good option because I knew we might be going from beach to restaurants occasionally, and this one is even styled as a dress on Amazon.

Anyway, I really like it, and it comes in a variety of colors.

I have shared this swimsuit time and time again, but this swimsuit is a new fave for sure. I realize it’s fall right now, and you might not be going anywhere warm, but if you are, this one shoulder suit is legit.

It comes in a variety of colors and patterns, and I just bet I will share it with you all again this summer.

The thing about me and athleisure is that I tend to keep most leggings and tanks for quite a while. I did go through my athleisure drawer recently, and got rid of a few pieces.

I was trying to find another 7/8 length pair of leggings, and these are it. The fabric is soft, they hold you in, and they have the side pocket which I prefer. These are a new fave for sure.

I shared these in a previous post, but wanted to include them again in my monthly Amazon post.

These are definitely more of a yoga style with softer, thinner fabric. That being said, I’ve used them for low-impact workouts and just casual wear, and I don’t regret this purchase. The price is great too!

What caught my eye is side slit which I thought was a fun detail.

Real talk – I was influenced by Jen Reed when she shared this purse. What I like about this purse is that it is nice, sturdy, cute, and a crossbody. There are times, like when I go to Keeneland, that I take a clutch purse, but I wanted a nicer crossbody, so I’m not holding my purse the entire time.

This purse is on the smaller side, but it held what I needed it to hold for the day. It also comes with a longer adjustable strap too, but I used the shorter one that came attached to it.

Lastly, I’ve been using this magnetic meal planning pad to keep on the fridge, and needed to order another one after using it for a year. It’s the perfect size to write our activities and what we are having for dinner as well as using the right hand side for my grocery list.

So those are my purchases for the month. It’s hard to believe that November purchases might include birthday gifts for a couple of fourteen year olds as well as some possible early Christmas gifts.

Blog Challenge Part 7

Hello and Happy Thursday!

Today, I’m continuing with my blog challenge and covering topics #14 and #15.

14. What is in my handbag?

When I saw this one, I thought it sounded familiar….and realized it’s because that’s also one of our Not Just a Mom topics…but not until August! I carry different purses different times of the year, so that will be fun to look back on this post and compare.

Anyway, I have three purses that I tend to carry this time of the year. My big purse that holds all the things, a crossbody if I don’t need to carry as much, and then my belt bag if I’m really try to be more minimal with what I carry.

In my Barrington tote, I have:

  • my wallet which holds cards and money (of course)
  • two smaller bags

The two smaller bags (which I’ve had forever):

  • White/pink bag: hair ties, lip gloss, Airpods, toothbrush, a few gift cards
  • Multicolored bag: hand sanitizer, medicine, wet wipes, cloth to clean sunglasses, and a few other odds and ends

Also in my purse I have…

  • Two pairs of sunglasses (the smaller black pair, I tend to wear if I’m wearing a hat)
  • My Invisalign compact (pink) + light up compact mirror (light blue), rubber bands
  • Kleenex
  • Hand lotion
  • Hair brush
  • Pens
  • A pair of socks — this is more of a winter thing, but if I’m wearing boots, sometimes I want socks and sometimes I don’t.

Last but not least…

  • my Kindle! I never leave home without it.

The other purses…

  • I love the cross body with the interchangeable strap. I tend to carry this one April -September before switching over to my larger bag for fall/winter months. This bucket bag holds quite a bit, and I use it some on the weekends when I can just pull out what I need from my bigger bag. I feel like I carry less in the warmer months, and maybe that’s because I’m also home more in the summer and don’t need to have everything on me all of the time.
  • For example, this weekend, when we were out of town for Hadley’s competition, I left my big purse at home, and just put what I needed (the essentials) in my cross body. It holds quite a bit…and that weekend, I even threw in some snacks for Hadley as well as a few extras like some things she needed for dance.
  • The belt bag is perfect for if I go for a walk or a sporting event. I do laugh every time I see it because there’s a small stain on it from a drop of guacamole that missed my mouth in Mexico this summer. I’ve tried to rub it out, and it just seems to stay. It’s probably not noticeable to others, but I notice it!
  • If we are going somewhere “nicer,” and I want a smaller bag, I have a few clutches or even a small black Kendra Scott crossbody that I will use the most.

15. Timeline of my day:

Well, I’ve done quite a few “Day in the Life” posts, so I will keep this answer pretty simple:

  • 6:00 wake up
  • Quiet time with coffee, blogs, news until 6:45
  • Get ready and make lunch
  • Wake kids ay 7:15 (and help with whatever they need)
  • Leave for school 7:45.
  • School from 8:00-3:30 (sometimes 4 or 4:30)
  • Pick up kids from school at 4:00 (if they don’t have after school activities)
  • After school activities: practices, games, dance, errands (if needed)
  • If there aren’t many activities, I try to workout 3 days a week.
  • 6:00 start dinner
  • Work on blog post while dinner cooks
  • 6:30-7:30 dinner (varies day to day)
  • After dinner, kids do homework, sometimes we have pick up from activities
  • 8:00 shower and skincare
  • 8:30-10:00 watch tv, relax if there’s time to do so
  • 10:00 bedtime and read for a bit

**Of course, every evening is different. There are times we don’t even get home until 7:30, eat dinner, help with schoolwork, etc. I do the best I can to cook Sunday-Thursday (with leftovers once or twice during the week). The slow cooker is a life saver at this point in my life. Thankfully, the kids are pretty self-sufficient, and help around the house. I do feel like I’m constantly playing “catch-up” on the weekends. So, when we have a busy weekend last last weekend, I often feel “thrown off” during the week trying to get caught up. Oh well, I always say “blessed to be busy!”

This month, for Not Just a Mom, we are sharing Day in the Life: Weekend Edition on March 13th.

When I started this “blog challenge,” I wasn’t sure how many posts I’d have to cover it…and I still don’t know! 😆 These topics have been fun to think about though.

Prime Purchases: May 2022

Hello! I hope your week is off to a great start. It’s the first Tuesday of the month, so I’m joining Tanya for her Prime Purchases link up.

This month I purchased:

I don’t think I’ve shared this yet, but I started Invisalign a couple of months ago. I forever feel like I have something in my teeth when I don’t have my aligners in. I’m not sure I’ve ever owned a compact, but I needed one for my purse to check my teeth after eating! This one has an LED light and is perfect to throw in my bag.

I’ve shared before that OPI Funny Bunny is my favorite nail polish. Honestly, Ulta is so hit or miss that I typically order it from Amazon when I’m about to run out.

I ordered more lunch box notes to finish up the school year. I usually order these:

…but thought I’d give these a try (again?…I’m pretty sure I used these same ones at some point for the kids during elementary school.)

My kids still have quite a few smaller hangers, and we are continuing to make the transition to bigger hangers for their bigger clothes. This is my second time ordering this 50 pack of hangers.

I got some new sunnies, and I love them! I have a couple of pairs I wear on repeat, and these are perfect to add into the rotation.

I’ve already shared that I ordered this cardigan in another color. I now have it in “cadet gray” and “violet red”…

…and I love it. This dark pink is the perfect color for spring!

Y’all, I’ve had my eye on this purse for a bit, and bought it this month. It arrived, and I couldn’t love it more.

Mine is a cream color which doesn’t currently seem to be available. There are so many color options, and the price is less than when I purchased mine. I wore it with my dress on Friday to Keeneland. It’s the perfect size for phone, compact, etc. and has an inside pocket where I put cards and cash rather than bring my larger wallet.

I hit up a local boutique on Saturday, and saw this very similar purse (tassel and all!) for $65! I definitely love my Amazon “dupe.”

What about you? What have you “Primed” lately? I’m betting my May purchases include lots of fun things for summer.

See you back here Thursday when I’ll share the books I read in April.

Prime Purchases: November 2021

Hello! The Halloween costumes are put away, so now it’s time to start thinking about birthday gifts for my kids, turkey, and of course, Christmas gift ideas. November and December are very overwhelming months for me. I need to start making a list (and checking it twice!) I’m hoping Amazon will be of big help like in years past!

Since it’s the first Tuesday of the month, I’m linking up with Tanya for her this month’s Prime Purchases.

This month month I bought:

I have these 7/8 leggings in gray and black. I purchased another pair in navy. I can’t say enough good things about these leggings. I love the length, the angled hem, and the side pocket. My other pairs have held up nicely, and are the perfect fit.

7/8 leggings

I purchased this dress to wear to Keeneland with friends a few weeks ago. It’s pretty, flowy and comfy!

Flowy 3/4 sleeve dress

I wanted a bigger purse for fall and winter. I still use my messenger bag, but sometimes I want something that will hold more. I guess in the cooler and colder months, I feel like I have more to carry. I loved the look of this purse, and it also has the cross body option. I’d been missing a purse that has pockets, and I love that this one has so many storage options. I purchased the gray brown gun metal color, and I love it.

Hobo Purse

Hadley and her friends decided to make their costumes pretty simple, and they each were a different animal for Halloween. Of course, I would have bought Hadley a costume anyway, but the fact that she will wear this onsie as pajamas was a win as well. The past two Christmases, I’ve given her onsie animal pjs (from Target), so I knew she’d wear this one over time as well.

Giraffe onsie

A quick and easy costume and cozy pjs…what more can she ask for?!

I usually put Christmas lights up around my white board at school in the winter months. I decided I wanted something for year round, so I ordered this pack of string lights.

Lights

I put them up in my classroom within minutes. They come with a remote with different settings, but I just keep them on the regular setting. Students get distracted enough without the help of flashing lights!

I’m very pleased with my Prime Purchases this month. What have you been Priming?

We don’t have school today, so I’m going to get caught up on my weekend chores! Tomorrow, I’m sharing the details from our fun and festive Halloween.

Thanks so much for reading,
