Let’s Look

Hello and happy Wednesday!

Yesterday, I continued to be thrown off that it was Tuesday and not Monday. So, I had to double check the calendar to confirm that today is Wednesday.

In fact, it’s the second Wednesday of the month, so I’m linking up with Shay for Let’s Look.

So far this year we’ve looked at…

  • Things we outsource without regret in January
  • Ways we’ve turned into our parents in February (I missed out on the February post, but I’m sure I’ve turned into them in the best possible ways.)
  • Favorite family vacations in March
  • Hardest thing we’ve ever done in April (I didn’t have a post, but I’d say the hardest (but most rewarding) thing I’ve ever done is raise these kids of mine!
  • Making couple friends in May
  • What I’m making more time for in June (I missed this post, but in June I was probably making more time for getting my life together after the end of the school year…and rest!)
  • Our summer selves in July
  • Things we miss in August

This month we’re looking atfree things that bring us joy.

Well, isn’t this a fun topic?!

  1. My very first thought was…library books! Is there anything better than going to the library? Admittedly, I don’t go as often as I used to since I mostly read on my Kindle…but I still love the library. Speaking of my Kindle, books are free on the Libby app!

It is pretty rare for me to buy books for my Kindle. That being said, this summer, I did try Kindle Unlimited with a free trial, and I did find books on there, so it was useful. I might pay for the subscription for a few months and see how much I continue to use it.

2. Free apps bring me joy…especially my Goodreads app. I love keeping track of the books I’ve read and doing the reading challenge every year. I can’t believe I’ve already met my goal of 40 books for the year!

3. Grocery store samples are always fun! I like trying new items…and sometimes I’m persuaded to buy!

4. Free events like holiday parades and concerts are always a nice change of pace.

5. A walk outside when the air is cool and crisp is a joyful experience.

6. Is there anything better than when someone compliments you? Compliments are free and bring others joy. Whether someone says my class is working hard, my kids have been polite, or someone likes a dress I’m wearing, compliments go a long way.

7. Oh, I love a tidy house! That definitely brings me joy.

8. Sunshine and sunsets bring me joy. Just Monday, I was able to float solo in the pool while reading my book, and it was lovely.

Of course, I love sunsets and while getting us to the beach is anything but free, I love an evening spent at the beach. I honestly don’t need to eat out for a fancy dinner or even hit up happy hour…not when I can have my toes in the sand watching the sun go down.

What about you? What’s a free thing that brings you joy?
