Three Things

Hello and happy Thursday!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared a “Three Things” post on all of us. While some things stay the same…like the kids staying busy with activities, other things change depending on the season!

Here’s a little bit of what’s been going on with us lately.

  1. At the kids’ last dentist appointment, we found out that Hayden’s wisdom teeth are in…and his top ones are poking out. I’d forgotten that last spring, the dentist said he could see them in the x-ray, but now they are in and I guess should be taken out. Typing this reminds me to call and schedule that evaluation. I’m hoping/assuming we can wait until summer to have them extracted. Of course, I had a “mom joke” of saying that if his wisdom teeth are in, shouldn’t he be more wise? Only the dentist and I laughed.
  2. Hayden’s made a great transition to track this spring. It helped tremendously that he ran cross country in the fall. Being a freshman and running against older runners will certainly be an adjustment, but he’s been getting his workouts in and is focused on the upcoming outdoor season. Hayden’s been loving the warm, spring weather we’ve been having recently. He’s already played a few rounds of golf. The other day, he played TWO rounds with friends in one day. I’m so glad he has a hobby that’s so fun for him…and keeps him outside enjoying the weather.
  3. Hayden loves this time of the year. March Madness, baby! He’s been watching other conference tournaments and of course he’s excited to watch the SEC tournament. Kentucky plays tonight, and I know he’ll watch every second of the game. The March madness is only just beginning.
  1. Hadley is loving high school life. She really enjoys her classes, her teachers and athletics. Volleyball was a great way to start the year, and she’s been enjoying the track season so far. I’ve always said that one thing I really appreciate about track is the diversity of kids on a track team. It’s been good for Hadley to get to know other athletes and get out of her comfort zone a bit being a freshman with the mix of all grade levels. She’s also been loving club volleyball. Juggling two sports and keeping up with her schoolwork has been something she’s really been handling better than expected. I’m proud of her for doing what she loves and finding time to fit everything in the best she can.
  2. In middle school, she found a great Young Life leader and group, and that’s continued in high school. She attends a Bible study every Tuesday before school, and it’s been really rewarding for her. At this age, I think it’s wonderful to see her faith journey unfold in a way that’s meaningful to her. She’s looking forward to camp this summer. She always has a wonderful time.
  3. My girl had her first job interview yesterday at our pool. At 15, she can work the pool deck and front desk, and she’s hopeful and excited for the opportunity. Assuming it works out, I think it will be good for her to have some responsibility and earn a bit of money this summer. I worked out at the club gym while she had her interview, and I loved seeing the smile on her face when she came to find me after the interview. Of course, she told me every detail. haha
  1. Me: I’ve had a really great school year. It’s been challenging in some ways and really rewarding as well. It’s been so great having my kids at school with me, and I’ve really enjoyed my classes/students this year. On another note, I’ve been trying to get back in the swing of things with working out and going for walks. The wonderful weather has been perfect for walks and listening to audio books. I was in a great workout routine in January, but not so much in February. I’m hopeful that March will be a good and active month.
  2. Trav: Travis is excited for the kids’ outdoor track season. And…he’s excited for grilling season. He grilled steaks last night and even microwaved the baked potatoes for a side. We all had a nice family dinner. He’s having surgery in a few weeks, so please send good vibes and prayers his way.
  3. Homer: Homer has been spoiled lately as Hadley has taken him on walks after dinner the past few weeks. Last night, he even got a couple of bites of steak! We adopted Homer, and he was born in the spring…so he must be six years old now. We’ll celebrate his “gotcha” day in June!

So, that’s a little bit of what’s going on with us lately. Apparently, I need to take another pic of Homer and get a pic with Trav because I had to use pics from the fall for this post! The kids track pics came in this week, so those are recent!

Have a great day,

  1. I came so close to doing a 3 Things Thursday post today too but I’m waiting on a few things to be more “official” as much of what I wanted to share is still kind of up in the air. It sounds like both your kids are adjusting to high school well! I hope Travis’ surgery goes well.
