Friday Favorites {#169} & Blogiversary

Hello and happy Friday!

How was your week? We’ve definitely made the most of my last official week of summer.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are a few favorites:

The kids got to hang out with their uncle and cousin at a photo shoot for UK volleyball.

They had so much fun, and Hadley was excited to meet Azhani Tealer.

Travis and I have been in California since Wednesday, and it’s been so nice to have some down time before heading back to school.

He’s here for work, and I tagged along. I’ve had some beach time…

…and pool time.

The weather and views have been amazing.

Also…

Today’s a big day…it’s the 4th blogiversary of Show Me and Sweet Tea.

I don’t take for granted this community, and writing these blog posts is still my favorite hobby!

As a thank you, I will send a $40 gift card to one of you to Target, Trader Joe’s, or Amazon.

By end of day Sunday, just share a favorite thing you’ve done this summer in the comment section of this post for a chance to win.

Please bear with me with heading back to school on Monday and getting my life together after being gone all week. It might be a couple of days before I announce the winner.

Truly, thank you for reading my posts, commenting and making this space a fun corner for the internet for me.

Favorite Kid Quote:

On Tuesday, when Hadley looked at her phone, she said, “Ewww! It’s August 1st.” I could definitely relate 😆

Favorite Mom Meme:

This one made me laugh…

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from this week in case you missed one:

What are your weekend plans?

I still have a couple more days in paradise and then Sunday is full on back to reality followed by back to school on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

  1. California looks wonderful! I’m pretty sure no one would pass their driving test then… I often thought it was a miracle we all made it in one piece anywhere when the kids were little because they were so distracting I had zero memory of actually driving! I think my favorite summer memory this year….. gosh, I guess that would be my husband and mine’s weekend getaway to Maine.

  2. Enjoy reading your blog! I’m also a teacher, so summer in general is a favorite, but we did manage a 5 day getaway to Maine with my husband, son, his wife, and our 16 year-old daughter. My other daughter and son-in-law weren’t able to make it. Good luck with the upcoming school year! I’m from Michigan and we go back the Tuesday after Labor Day.

    1. Thanks for reading! We have friends who moved to Michigan a couple of years ago…they are visiting soon and I always forget they go back later than us. I’d love to get back to Maine one day.

  3. Happy 4th Blog Anniversary!
This summer has been a good one and we are enjoying the last two weeks before 10th grade starts. My daughter and I have traveled for camp (FL), Europe (River Cruise plus a few bonus days!) and NYC. We have had a ball but always sad my husband can’t join our adventures due to the craziness of his work schedule. Happy end of summer for you and enjoy CA….that view is amazing!

  4. Love your blog! I have boy/girl twins aged 7 so I truly appreciate your POV of being a few years ahead of me. I agree with Hadley’s response to Aug 1st, ew! Just not ready to say goodbye to summer quite yet. My favorite summer memory is having a boat day on July 4th.

    1. Oh fun! While I love the independence that comes with older kids, I would let them go back to being 7 😉 such a sweet age. The 4th of July is always a favorite for me too. Thanks for reading today’s post.

    1. Awe that’s great! When I was in Florida and staying at the family house with my daughter, she was in the pool and I reminded her that was the pool she learned to swim in. I have sweet memories of that 🙂 thanks for reading!

  10. I’ve been taking care of my dad after emergency surgery. While the surgery is not a favorite the the fact that I’m able to take care of him is!

Thanks for the opportunity! Happy Blogiversary! 🎈

  11. Happy 4 yr Blogiversary! So happy to have found your blog. I feel a connection as my daughter is going to be a senior at UK this year, and we’re from out of state. This year, my son (a sophomore), is transferring to UK also, so half of our family will be there! We’ve grown to love Lexington! And my favorite part of the summer was our annual vacation to HHI, but also any family time we could get with our college age kids 🙂
