10 on the 10th

Hello and happy Tuesday!

Y’all, how is it already the 10th of March?! This month is already flying by! I’m linking up with Marsha for the 10 on the the 10th link up..

This month’s prompt is…

I love this prompt because I’m so happy that spring seems to have sprung!

1. More Daylight!

Yay! for longer days and more sunshine, even though this is currently how I feel:

2. Warmer temps

I appreciate the sunshine on a 70 degree day, but I actually don’t mind a sunny cooler day either. The sun seems to shine brighter in the spring which I appreciate!

3. Walks

I definitely tend to go on more walks in the spring. The temps are perfect and I guess after the winter months, I want to get outside.

4. Fresh air/open windows

I love the fresh air in the spring. It feels like a big sigh of relief for surviving winter. We had our windows open over the weekend which was lovely. Honestly though, once things start blooming we won’t be able to do that much thanks to allergies!

5. Green grass and flowers

I love seeing the green grass in the spring. It’s a wonderful sign of hope from Mother Nature after the snow in the winter. Of course, that means we have to start mowing the grass, but that’s Hayden’s job. haha

I usually wait until Mother’s Day to put flowers on the front porch, but I also love seeing what blooms before then.

6. Keeneland

I love Keeneland in the fall, but nothing beat Keeneland in the spring!

7. Seasonal eating

I love chili and soup and anything that goes in the slow cooker, but it is nice to start having other dinner options. Just last night, Travis picked up steaks to grill, and it was nice to have some variety for our dinner. Also, we tend to start eating more vegetables and I appreciate that the fruit options tend to be better and more abundant.

Plus, we will eat on our back patio in the spring more than any other time of the year which is literally a breath of fresh air!

8. Sandals

Oh…I love being able to wear sandals as soon as possible. I usually get a pedicure around spring break, and then there is no turning back! I actually hate wearing shoes, so I wear sandals April to October. It’s almost time!

These continue to be my faves and most worn. I have had two pairs through the years, and I love them more than my Birks!

9. Baseball

I love baseball, and I’m so happy it’s baseball season. Growing up, the KC Royals were always on the TV at home, even during the many lean years. Hayden is as big of a KC Royals fan as I am, and I often have the games on at home too.

Also, this spring, I’m a baseball mom again! Hayden has decided to take a break from running/track, and he made the school’s baseball team! This has been a fun change for him, so we’ll spend lots of time at baseball games this spring.

10. Spring break

Oh! Once spring break arrives, it’s the downhill slide to summer! I always appreciate this break and feel like I need it so much more than fall break. We tend to usually go somewhere for spring break which is fun, but we’re always last minute planners.

This year, our spring break is a week later, so it does still feel like it’s forever far away. I guess I’m going to depend on warmer spring days to get me through.

Have a great day!

10 on the 10th

Hello and happy Tuesday.

Well, high ho, high ho, it’s back to school we go. Yesterday, we finally thawed out enough to get some bus routes clear, but we actually are on a two hour delay. I guess it will be nice to ease into the school day a bit later after being out since Friday, January 23rd. Yes, you read that correctly!

It’s February 10th, so I’m linking up with Marsha for…

This month’s prompt is…

Kind of like in January, at first thought, this was a tough topic for me. Thankfully, I had a few days to think about my responses. (I hope I’ve interpreted the prompt correctly!)

Here are 10 things I hate to love…

  1. Iced coffee: I’ve had iced coffee through the years, but it’s only been a couple of months of drinking iced coffee pretty regularly. I love it, but it takes a few steps to make my iced coffee…ice, milk, coffee, creamer, froth my concoction, and add a dollop of cold foam before enjoying.

2. Seasonal mugs/icon glasses: These are both fun things to love, but it means I have to keep my cabinet organized to hold some of these favorite things. I have organized my mugs with seasonal ones together, so that helps, and then I put “off season” icon glasses in a lower cabinet.

3. Coffee creamers: I really do try to just use a splash of creamer as to not add too many calories to my morning coffee, but I used to only be a vanilla creamer girl. Now, thanks to Chobani, I am always changing up my coffee creamer. Trav still prefers the vanilla, so I always have that on hand, but I like to buy the peppermint, cookie dough, and recently I’ve been trying the birthday cake flavor.

4. The Real Housewives: I actually don’t watch a lot of reality/trash TV, but I do love most of the Real Housewives franchises. My favorite part of every season is the reunion. I’d say OC and Beverly Hills are my fave two.

5. Following celebrity stuff/reading People and Us Weekly: These magazines are just “permission for me to be nosy” haha! Sometimes, I just like mindless watching and reading!

6. Having my nails done: For years, I did my own nails, but about three years ago, I started getting SNS dip on my nails every three to four weeks. It just feels like a nice treat for myself, and once my nails are done, I don’t have to worry about them. I do take occasional breaks, but overall, I keep pretty regular appointments.

7. Skincare: I always say, I’m not turning back the hands of time with any of the products I use, but I’m just trying to keep my skin hydrated, firm(ish), and glowy. I still love my monthly facials, and those feel like a nice treat. That being said, with skincare, I feel like I’m “always” buying something. I’m pretty loyal to my products, but I just mean if something runs out, I have to order again.

8. My tumbler: There’s worse things to hate to love like drinking water…haha! But…I always have my tumbler with me and feel “naked” without it! I have this one in two colors, and it’s what I’ve used the past few years to stay hydrated.

9. Sweets! Why do I have a sweet tooth?! I will say I’m pretty good about saying “no” treats like donuts or cookies. That being said, if something is seasonal, I will eat probably more than I should!

10. Target: Who doesn’t love Target? I always joke that I “let” Target tell me what I need when I step foot in the store. haha! So, that basically means that I always leave with more than I need. My most favorite recent purchase is this jarred candle with a lid…I love it so much so that I’ve picked it up in a few other colors. (They had buy one, get one half off this weekend)

This was a fun post to write. What’s one thing you hate to love?

10 on the 10th

Hello and happy Saturday!

I hope your weekend is off to a great start.

When I shared that I’m trying to blog every day in January, Joanne suggested Marsha‘s 10 on the 10th link up…I’ve never participated, so I’m excited to do so today.

This month’s prompt is…

When I first saw this prompt, I thought it would be difficult to do…and it kind of was hard to come up with ideas. I guess this is the opposite of a resolution! haha I gave it my best shot…

Here are 10 things I won’t be doing in 2026:

  1. Eat more fiber: For years, I’ve tracked my protein off and on as I know that’s important for weight loss, but now I’m hearing more and more about fiber. I know fiber has its benefits, but I don’t know if I can track one more thing. That being said, one of my “go to” ideas for lunch on low carb days are “Carb Balance” tortillas…and it’s always surprising to me to see that they have 17 grams of fiber!
  2. Read books that are longer than 300 (or so) pages (or listen to super long audio books): When I’m reading on my Kindle, I guess I don’t really know how long a book is until I download it, but 300-350 pages is what holds my attention span. (Even better if it’s a shorter book) I’ve also noticed when checking out audiobooks on Libby, I like to see that a book is nine or less hours in listening length. I often listen to a book on 1.5 or 1.75 speed, but if a book is longer than nine hours, I don’t know if I will have time to finish it in the two week window that I get to check it out.
  3. Quit scrolling before bed: I know that it’s bad for our brains to scroll phones or read a Kindle, but I do both of those things and I rarely have trouble falling asleep. At this point, those moments tend to be some of the only ones I have for mindless activities.
  4. Walking 10,000 steps: Listen, I’m not mad at that idea and there are days I get 10,000 steps, but a more realistic goal for me is 7,500 steps in a day. Most days I leave school with 5,000 steps, so evening activities and workouts typically get me to 7,500. That being said, since the workout program I typically do is 25 minutes, I usually try to walk outside or on my walking pad for 15 minutes after the workout. At that point, I’ve definitely gotten to my 7,500 goal (or more!), but attempting to get 10,000 steps in every day would make me feel like a failure.
  5. Give up on the Chiefs and the Royals: Us Chiefs fans are in uncharted water this season without the Chiefs in the playoffs. I hate that Mahomes is injured and Kelce might retire, but I have to hope that next year will be better. When you are also a KC Royals fan, you also always hope the next year will be better.
  6. Clean up my Gmail: Why do I have so many unread emails and very little storage? I can’t keep up! It’s very unlike my type A personality to have over 200 unread emails on my phone (my personal email…not my school email), and even Trav will do a double-take and make a comment about my out of control inbox. A few years ago, “something had to give,” and apparently it was my Gmail inbox!
  7. Watch Stranger Things: I have nothing against this show, and I know it’s been on for years, but I feel like it’s all I’m hearing about and I just don’t have interest in watching it…which leads me to…
  8. Learning Mahjong: This is also all the rage, and I just don’t think it’s something I’m interested in. Mostly, I think I feel this way because it seems like there are a lot of rules. haha! I will never say never about Mahj, but as of right now, it’s a no for me.
  9. Wear long or chunky socks: I have some fuzzy, cozy fleece socks, but I can’t do the athletic or chunky socks over leggings. I’m a below ankle sock girl through and through.
  10. Drink energy drinks: I’ve always been a “no energy drink” girl especially when “energy drink” meant Monster. haha! Now, there are so many options with many cute cans to tempt you…Alani, Bloom, Celsius, etc. Occasionally, I will have an afternoon coffee and I love a Diet Coke, but I don’t even drink those very often.

This turned out to be such a fun topic!
