Friday Favorites {#280}

Hello and happy Friday! …and happy Halloween!

Wow! I feel like this week flew by…and I’m not mad about it. Overall, we had a great week.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

I have so many favorites from this past week. I feel like we actually did more than just be at home, sports or school!

Ok, well, “starting off strong…” last Friday night I was at home. haha!

Anyway, I was so excited to start the second season of Nobody Wants This. I was able to watch a couple of episodes, and I love it.

Saturday morning I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to get up and just read for a bit before starting my day. Last weekend really was the first time it started to feel like fall, so it was a nice cozy morning reading by candlelight.

Hadley celebrated a sweet friend’s birthday on Saturday…PJs and pancakes style.

While she was doing that, I ran quite a few errands…including going to Walmart. I don’t go to Walmart often, but I wanted to check out their fun ornaments. I didn’t get this one, but how cute?!

I did see this cute mini pumpkin cocotte by Pioneer Woman…and just knew it would look cute on my stove. I couldn’t decide between the orange or the white, so I picked up both.

The orange one provides a cute pop of color on my stove top.

I put the white one on the kitchen table.

It looks so cute in the tray.

Obviously, I can use them as cookware, but for now, I’ve used them more as decorations.

On Saturday, we also went to the pumpkin patch. Hadley drove us!

My happy place!

Travis said this was the first time we’d been in a while where the weather felt like fall. We appreciated the cooler temps.

I just love these fantasy pumpkins.

Hadley found the perfect pumpkin, and we picked Hayden up one since he was mowing the neighbor’s yard.

We saw people carrying a lot of pumpkins, and then saw this sign! This is a fun idea.

Sunday morning breakfast was elite…an apple cider donut and coffee in my cute pumpkin mug.

My mom went to Scotland with a friend, and she brought me home this candle. It certainly smells like fall.

Sunday afternoon, we went to see Legally Blonde, Jr…the musical.

My niece played Rufus, the dog…and of course she knocked it out of the park!

We gave her some flowers and candy after the performance.

Tuesday night was pumpkin carving night! First, we had mummy dogs and macaroni and cheese “brains.”

Hadley had a “vision” for her pumpkin…she wanted stars all over it, and she used a snowflake cookie cutter to trace her stars. Hayden carved his pumpkin within a few minutes, turned it around and said, “I’m done!” I just laughed because for whatever reason, the face just made me laugh. Simple and to the point. He went back in and added the little nose.

They looked perfect on the porch…

…and even prettier the next night in the rain.

Yesterday, at school, we had a “crocktober” potluck for lunch, and it was a great way to spend time with my teacher friends. One of my friends made this “boo sheet” cake which made me laugh. It was delish.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Maybe with the time change, the kids getting up will be a bit easier? A mom can dream!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday

Two flashback Fridays this week…in honor of our traditional trip to the pumpkin patch, here the kids are in 2010…their first time at the pumpkin patch…

…and their first Halloween. 2010 was a big year of wagon riding!

Weekly Recap:

Here are my posts from the week in case you missed one:

I typically share my Monthly Moments post on the last day of the month, but I had too many other great things to share today! I’ll post an October recap tomorrow.

Halloween is actually on a Friday…let’s do this!

See you back here tomorrow for a bonus post!

Monthly Musings

Hello and happy Halloween Eve! Goodness, all we’ve gotten is rain this week which has really felt like fall, but I’m ready to see the sunshine again. Thankfully, I think the rain moves out today and Halloween looks good for the trick-or-treaters.

Since it’s the last Thursday of the month, I’m linking up with Patty and Holly for Monthly Musings. I enjoy this link up so much!

This month’s topic is all about Halloween

This is a fun way to wrap up the month…and Halloween on a Friday is the perfect way to wrap up the week!

1. Favorite Halloween traditions?

My favorite tradition is more of a fall tradition and that’s when we go to the pumpkin patch where we get apple cider donuts and see all the great pumpkins. While we’re there the kids pick our their pumpkins and those are the ones we carve. Carving pumpkins is my other favorite tradition. I really love it now because the kids can do the work on their own. haha!

2. Any special Halloween dinners or spooky snacks?

The night we carve pumpkins, I make a “special” dinner of hotdogs and mac and cheese. I used to make “bloody” fingers for years, but then I started making mummy dogs. I also make mac and cheese, but then I add green food coloring and call it “brains.” Some years I serve green grapes and say they are eyeballs. The kids humor me!

3. What do you typically do on Halloween?

Well, for years and years we trick-or-treated with friends. We had the same group that got together from when the kids were little through the elementary years.

Once the kids were in middle school, they still trick-or-treated in the neighborhood, but they kind of went out on their own, and Trav and I stayed home to pass out candy.

It’s bittersweet not trick-or-treating with kids, but I enjoy staying home and passing out candy; now it’s fun to see little ones all dressed up.

4. Do you carve or paint pumpkins?

We carve pumpkins. We used to use some of the paper templates, but now the kids just kind of choose what they want to do and wing it.

We carved pumpkins Tuesday night, and they turned out cute!

5. Favorite Halloween candy?

Screenshot

I have a sweet tooth for chocolate. I love Reese’s and Kit Kats, but I also love Sour Patch Kids.

6. What are you giving out for Halloween this year?

Candy!

Through the years, I’ve added in fruit snacks and pretzels for kids who might not want candy.

7. Full-size or fun-size?

I typically only buy fun size candy, but I let kids take a few pieces!

8. Favorite Halloween costume of all time?

I always loved getting the kids their costumes every year, and they had some great ones through the years. I loved when Hayden was his favorite Royals baseball player or Patrick Mahomes. The years that Hadley was a nerd and an 80’s girl cracked me up but…

I’ve shared time and time again, that when the kids were three Hayden wanted to be Batman, and Hadley had the idea (all on her own) to be Robin. I think her costume was the first thing I bought on Amazon. haha

9. Favorite Halloween movie?

When the kids were little, we’d always watch It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I’ll catch it occasionally…

…same with Hocus Pocus.

10. What are the trick or treat hours where you live?

Our trick-or-treat hours are 6-8. I’m glad that it looks like the weather will cooperate. I appreciate that we have a covered front porch, and Trav and I will probably sit out there to greet the trick-or-treaters.

I hope your Thursday isn’t too spooky! I teach high schoolers, so every day is spooky for me! haha

What I’ve Been Reading: October 2025

Hello and happy Wednesday!

It’s hard to believe that October is almost over…which is probably something I will say for every post this week. October tends to be one of my favorite months, so I’m actually typically sad when it’s over! October started with me reading on the beach and is ending with me cozy and reading at home while it rains outside.

This month I read three books…

{As always, book summaries are from Goodreads…}

The Academy:

Summary:

It’s move-in day at Tiffin Academy and amidst the happy chaos of friends reuniting, selfies uploading, and cars unloading, shocking news: America Today just ranked Tiffin the number two boarding school in the country. It’s a seventeen-spot jump – was there a typo? The dorms need to be renovated, their sports teams always come in last place, and let’s just say Tiffin students are known for being more social than academic. On the other hand, the campus is exquisite, class sizes are small, and the dining hall is run by an acclaimed New York chef. And they do have fun—lots of parties and school dances, and a piano man plays in the student lounge every Monday night.

But just as the rarefied air of Tiffin is suffused with self-congratulation, the wheels begin to turn – and then they fall off the bus. One by one, scandalous blind items begin to appear on phones across Tiffin’s campus, thanks to a new app called ZipZap, and nobody is safe. From Davi Banerjee, international influencer and resident queen bee, to Simone Bergeron, the new and surprisingly young history teacher, to Charley Hicks, a transfer student who seems determined not to fit in, to Cordelia Spooner, Admissions Director with a somewhat idiosyncratic methodology – everyone has something to hide.

Quick Thoughts:

This was my fall break book! I rarely purchase books, but I saw it at Target when I was picking up a few things, so I bought it too. I was so excited to read it while soaking in the sunshine.

Quick Thoughts:

This was a highly anticipated book for me, and I love Hilderbrand’s books; this one she co-wrote with her daughter. How fun!

The plot moves through the school year with each chapter a month September to May.

This book was easy to read, and I loved the boarding school drama…although there were definitely some things that surprised me from high school students. Tiffin’s campus is just what I would expect for a boarding school, and I loved that there was a map in the front of the book where all the buildings were located. There’s romance, drama, friendship and more in this book. They leave us hanging because we know there’s a letter to be opened when they graduate, which for some of the students is the next year. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Confessions of a Grammar Queen:

Summary:

There are no female publishing CEOs in 1960’s New York. And that is exactly what savvy, ambitious Bernadette Swift plans to change.

Bernadette Swift, a young copyeditor at Lenox & Park Publishing, is determined to become the first female CEO in the publishing industry. But first she needs to take the next step up that ladder with a promotion that her boorish and sexist boss wants to thwart. Seeking a base of support, Bernadette joins a feminist women’s book club at the New York Public Library, and soon, she’s inspiring her fellow members to challenge the male gatekeepers and decades of ingrained sexism in their workplaces and pursue their personal and professional dreams.

And that is precisely what Bernedette does on a daily keeps her eye on the prize—equality for women in the workplace, and a promotion—while fending off the ire of her boss and the sabotaging efforts of a jealous coworker. With the support of her book club buddies and a certain charismatic editor at Lenox & Park who has completely fallen for her, maybe, just maybe, Bernadette will prove able to claim victory for herself and the young women coming after her.

Quick Thoughts:

I read this book thanks to Sarah’s suggestion, and I couldn’t have loved it more. First of all, who doesn’t love grammar? Just kidding.

Bernadette is such a unique character as she is strong-willed and independent but she’s also vulnerable. I loved the history, the women’s book club, the characters, the love story, the message and more!

Another aspect I enjoyed was that every few chapters were written from the point of view of Bernadette’s dog Frank. So sweet and fun.

I think this book is a contender for the best book I’ve read this year.

You know I love a book if I have a couple of favorite quotes:

  • Though women were outranked on every floor, in every department, they were also the backbone of the workforce, the glue that stuck the pages to the spines. Without them, everything fell apart.
  • Good mentors never tear you down. They hold your hand and tug you through the portal of dreams.

Paris is Always a Good Idea:

Summary:

It’s been seven years since Chelsea Martin embarked on her yearlong post-college European adventure. Since then, she’s lost her mother to cancer and watched her sister marry twice, while Chelsea’s thrown herself into work, becoming one of the most talented fundraisers for the American Cancer Coalition, and with the exception of one annoyingly competent coworker, Jason Knightley, her status as most talented fundraiser is unquestioned.

When her introverted mathematician father announces he’s getting remarried, Chelsea is forced to acknowledge that her life stopped after her mother died, and that the last time she can remember being happy, in love, or enjoying her life was on her gap year. Inspired to retrace her steps–to find Colin in Ireland, Jean Claude in France, and Marcelino in Italy–Chelsea hopes that one of these three men who stole her heart so many years ago, can help her find it again.

From the start of her journey nothing goes as planned, but as Chelsea reconnects with her old self, she also finds love in the very last place she expected.

Quick Thoughts:

I listened to this book. I enjoyed it, but it felt very long.

The premise of reconnecting with three previous loves set the timeline from the start. I thought that was a fun aspect in that Chelsea traveled to three different countries, and reconnecting with the men each provided a different encounter.

Of course, there’s some twists and turns along the way, along with a couple of R rated scenes. As the story progressed, I knew how it would end, but I was happy with the ending!

Rating:

3. 5 stars

While I’ve been a consistent reader, I’m afraid I’m going to fall short of my 40 book goal this year. I’ve read 31/40…but I feel like I’ve read more this year! Oh well, the goal is just a fun thing to do year to year. I’m doing the best I can, and I still enjoy reading, and listening to a good book!

Monday Memes

Hello and happy Monday! Wow! I feel like the weekend flew by…as did the month of October! Since it’s the last Monday of the month, I’m sharing some of the memes that made me laugh recently.

Isn’t this one the truth?

Travis can relate to this one…haha

Out of nowhere, clutter will make me crazy.

This one isn’t exactly me, but it’s close!

LOL!

There really are multiple versions of me…and sometimes even when I go out in public, I should probably make myself look a bit more presentable.

Why did this one make me laugh so hard?! Make a wish…it’s 11:11!

Have I won the lottery yet? (Really, I’m having a great school year!…just wish maybe we had school four days a week. haha!)

Hadley’s school volleyball has wrapped up, and this meme made me laugh. Not letting the balloon touch the floor was all the rage at the elementary class parties.

This one really made me laugh! Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi are absolutely not the same.

I hope your weekend starts off with a laugh or two. Which meme is your fave?

Friday Favorites {#279}

Hello and happy Friday!

This week was a good one, but it’s always good to see Friday!

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

Trav and I found some time to make it to Keeneland for the fall meet.

I’m usually lucky to go to the races once a meet, but Travis pops in a lot for work. He actually had a TV interview, so he needed to go for that…

…and I tagged along.

We made our way over to the Clubhouse and saw many of our friends. It was a lovely day at the track, and it was nice to watch up with them.

Saturday night, we sat on our back patio and flipped back and forth between the UK game and the Mizzou game. My Tigers won…but unfortunately for the CATS fans in our house, UK lost. Both games went into overtime which made for a late night. The weather was nice, so I’m glad we sat outside for a few hours.

Sunday was a rainy day which was honestly a favorite. I watched one of my favorite movies…

…while Hadley baked “6-7” cookies. If you have teens, you know “6-7” is all the rage! It literally means nothing, but the kids are always saying it…just Google it or find an Instagram reel, and you’ll have your answer of how it came about…but why it’s stuck around so long or is all the rage, I’m not sure.

Pumpkin cold brew hit the spot on Friday. I hope to get another one this weekend.

A few school faves

One of my friends has been sharing her seasonal agenda slides, and they are so fun.

During my planning or while my students are working, I like to put up a You Tube seasonal background with instrumental music. Fall and winter are the best background, in my opinion.

Speaking of school, my Adv. English 1 students mapped Odysseus’s travels in part 1 of the text, and they did such a good job. I did this assignment last year too, and it’s one I will keep in the rotation for sure.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Why do I feel this one so deeply?!

Bonus Fave: Flashback Friday:

With Keeneland’s October meet wrapping up, I’m sharing this pic which has always been a favorite. Let’s just say Hayden’s horse lost the race…and Hadley’s probably won! haha

Weekly Recap:

I got back in a blogging groove this week:

I hope you have the best fall weekend!

Halloween This or That

Hello and happy Thursday! This week seems to be flying by! I love a this or that post, and especially holiday themed ones. With Halloween around the corner, I’m sharing my answers…

…for this cute graphic that I found via Pinterest, of course.

Screenshot
  1. Carve or decorate a pumpkin: Our pumpkin carving tradition is holding on strong! It’s one of my favorite traditions.

2. Haunted house or corn maze: Neither! Hello, anxiety!

3. Addams Family or Hocus Pocus: Definitely Hocus Pocus. That being said, in the car, the teen girls were talking about Wednesday. I didn’t realize there was a second season, so maybe I can watch that.

4. Chocolate candy or fruit candy? Have you met me? Chocolate for sure!

5. Witches or Vampires? Witches!

6. Pumpkin spice or hot chocolate? I don’t do pumpkin spice lattes anymore, but I’m loving the pumpkin cold brew at Starbucks.

7. Halloween party or haunted house? Again, neither? lol

I enjoy passing out candy on Halloween. I think Hadley has Halloween party plans. I’ve never been a haunted house girl because I don’t like being scared!

8. Scary movies or kid friendly movies? I don’t mind a scary movie if I’m at home. I don’t want to see one in the movie theater. Kid friendly movies are great…for me too! Most years, we watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

9. Mummies or ghosts? Ghosts! Somehow, I think they are cuter.

10. Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger? NEITHER!

11. Cute costumes or clever costumes? Cute costumes, but I’m always amazed at how clever people can be with their costume ideas. Let me remind you of the cutest costume duo ever:

12. Candy corn or malt balls? I understand if you don’t like candy corn, but who likes malt balls?! I prefer candy corn when it’s mixed with peanuts, Reese’s Pieces and Crispix.

13. Trick-or-treat or hand out candy?

Oh…I miss the trick-or-treat days.

We’ve been back to passing out candy for a few years now.

We’ve officially segued into the kids wanting to go to high school Halloween parties with their friends.

14. Spooky or sweet Halloween decorations?

My kids give me grief that I have cute decorations instead of scary ones.

15. Skeleton or scarecrow?

I love these little guys that I stick in our mums the week before Halloween.

16. Witches broom or witches cauldron? Cauldron, I guess?

17. Buy a costume or make a costume?

We always bought the kids’ costumes through the years. It was just easier…as long as they didn’t change their minds!

Some fave costumes through the years…

18. Dum Dums or Blow Pops? Blow Pops…I appreciate the gum after all the effort.

19. Monster Mash or Thriller? Thriller!

20. Pumpkin patch or fall festival?

You know I love a pumpkin patch. We didn’t get to go last year, but I think we have time on Saturday. I can’t wait!

Let me know if you agree or disagree with any of my answers. Only one week left until Halloween!

Teacher Talk Tuesday: The Tech Battle

Hello and happy Tuesday!

One thing that really has changed in my twenty-four years as an educator is how technology affects student learning.

Today, I’m sharing a bit about some of the procedures I’m using this year to ensure students are giving me their full attention. haha!

Kentucky has a new law, House Bill 208, that requires school districts to create policies that ban student cell phone use during instructional time.

In recent years, cell phones have been a constant battle. I will say that middle schools have always been somewhat strict about phones, so teaching ninth graders, they come into high school with the expectations that phones should be put away. So, as a teacher, if I’m strict with my expectations, they know that they shouldn’t be on them. It really hasn’t been a huge issue for me through the years, but I’ve had to be strict about it.

I appreciate that now there’s a law and a school wide policy. Last year, one of Hayden’s teachers started using pencil boxes at her tables for students to put their phones in during instruction. That way, the phones are nearby in case they need them, but they are put away. This year, my school gave every teacher an over the door calculator pouch, but I started using bins that I got at the Dollar Tree to start the school year.

Honestly, these have worked fine. I have one for every two rows, and students place them in there before the bellringer to start class. Again, I have freshman four of my six classes, so they are used to limited phone use thanks to middle school.

With my two English 2 (sophomore) classes, I told them that I will treat them with more trust and responsibility, and their phones shouldn’t be out. Truly, I figured there would be a honeymoon period and then I’d have to have them use the bins. Well, we’re in week 10 of school, and it’s truly been the easiest start to the year in terms of not having to fight with students about technology. As a teacher, I’m good about sticking to my expectations, and I think they know that by now.

My previous district was smaller, and students were 1:1 with technology my last few years there. My current district is much bigger, so I never thought we’d be 1:1 with students and computers. Well, of course, Covid changed all that. Chromebooks are so beneficial in regards to learning. I post everything on Canvas, so students know what we are working on. I still do some assignments on paper, but I actually prefer grading online. I’d say 75% of what students submit is on Canvas and the other 25% is on paper.

We have Go Guardian that we set up at the start of the year, and it blocks what students have access to during class. On my end, I can see what is on their screens at all times, and the sessions are recorded. So, for example, if I think a student cheated, I can go back and view the session to see what screens they were on during that time. It really has eliminated students being on random websites when they should be learning.

Technology is a blessing and a curse, that’s for sure! I tell the students we’re trying to teach them how to use technology responsibly since it will always be a part of their lives.

Monday Memo: It’s the Little Things

Hello and happy Monday!

This is the stretch of the school year where Mondays start to hit differently. Fall break is over, and it feels like Thanksgiving break is a ways away. That being said, I know it will be here before we know it!

The past few days I’ve done a few “little” things just to try to give myself a break and to remind myself that it’s okay for me to take some time when I need it. I’m sharing those things with you today.

I finally got a pumpkin cream cold brew at Starbucks. I don’t do pumpkin spice lattes anymore, but this sure did hit the spot. I also love the bacon Gouda egg sandwich at Starbs, so I get that occasionally. I never go inside Starbs, let alone sit inside for a few minutes, but I did so the other day. It was really nice to take twenty minutes to enjoy my breakfast sandwich and coffee.

I love hand creams. I have a few of the Bath and Body ones, and I always put some on my hands before bed…and then as needed otherwise. Anyway, Bath and Body had buy three get one free, so I stocked up. I put one in the car, one in my purse, one in my makeup bag, and one in my bedside table drawer. So, I have one wherever I need them.

I went to a new (to me) store…

I’ve walked past Paper Source many times, and I decided to go inside the other day. My oh my…they have so many cute things.

I actually showed restraint and didn’t buy anything, but I will definitely be back. I saw so many great gift ideas.

I purchased more pumpkins! A couple of weeks ago, I spruced up the front porch, but something was missing. That “something” was a couple more pumpkins. haha!

When I was at Trader Joe’s on Friday, I purchased a couple more to balance out the porch. Treat yourself!

I sat outside and got some fresh air. Instead of scrolling my phone, I did one of my favorite hobbies… a word search! I love doing word searches.

I’ve been trying a new beauty product…I was “influenced” into using this 3D lifting cream, and I really like it. Honestly, I can feel it working once I apply it. I’m not turning back the hands of time, but I am using this in my evening skincare routine.

I stayed in my pajamas all day. Saturday was such a long day…probably fourteen hours from start to finish. We were in Louisville at Hadley’s last volleyball tournament which meant a 6am wake up call, and we didn’t get home until close to 8pm. Yesterday was rainy and cold, so I gave myself permission to stay comfy all day. I briefly changed out of my pjs to go to Kroger…and of course I saw my brother and a neighbor…so I’m glad I wasn’t wearing my PJs for those brief moments. haha!

Anyway, the rest of the day was spent at home grading, doing laundry, getting ready for the week…

…and I watched one of my favorite movies…Father of the Bride. Man, we’ll miss Diane Keaton. I love Disney + for the sole purpose of watching so many movies that I loved growing up.

So, those were a few of the things I’ve done for myself lately. I hope this is a reminder to take care of yourself when needed!

Have a great Monday.

Friday Favorites {#278}

Hello and happy Friday!

I don’t think I’ve needed to make it to Friday this badly in quite some time! This week has been a doozy. I feel like re-entry after fall break the past couple of weeks has felt like the first few weeks of school all over again.

As always, I’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week’s Friday Favorites.

Here are some favorites from the week:

HoCo:

Last weekend was all about Homecoming! The kids went to the football game, and had a great time.

Saturday morning, Hadley and friends got together for “brunch and bouquets.” One of the moms hosted, and I thought it was such a thoughtful idea and a fun way for the girls to hang out.

They had a great time eating brunch and arranging their flowers.

After that, one of Hadley’s friends came over for a bit before they joined a few friends to finish getting ready for the dance.

Around 5:00, a big group of kids met up for pictures. Hadley’s date had a beautiful bouquet for her which was a lovely gesture.

They’ve been friends for quite a few years, and he’s one of Hayden’s friends too.

Hadley and her bestie and their dates…

All the girls looked so pretty…and loved taking all the photos. The boys were good sports about it.

We snagged a pic with Hadley before she went to dinner with her date.

He actually goes to another school, but both of the Homecoming dances were on the same night. So, they took pictures with Hadley’s friends (he knows quite a few of them too), and then they went to dinner with his friends and the dance at his school.

Afterwards, Hadley came home and gave us a few details of the evening. Then, she went to a friend’s house for the after party. Hayden went too and joined some of his friends there. He was home around midnight while Hadley spent the night at the friend’s house. I had to wait up until midnight, and I guess I’m getting a glimpse of my future.

After the pics, Travis and I went out for an early dinner at a place we’ve only been to once before. We sat on the patio, and said “cheers” to surviving all day HoCo prep!

Other faves:

While we were on fall break, one of the breakfasts that was planned was cinnamon rolls. I buy Sister Schubert rolls often, but I’d never seen the cinnamon rolls. Once we got home, I added a couple to my Kroger order. I made a pan on Sunday morning…

…and they were delish!

I went to Hobby Lobby (again) this week, and picked up a couple of LED pumpkins for my classroom. I have these same ones at home, and just thought they’d be a nice festive touch at school. Some of my students have commented on them!

I have this cute one on my desk:

Yesterday, our principal treated us to ice cream which was so thoughtful. It truly has been such a long week, so this was a great way to cap off the day.

Favorite Mom Meme:

Oh…we really need to get it together in the morning…all of us! haha

Weekly Recap:

Well, I didn’t mean to ghost you this week. I shared a post on Monday, and I had good intentions of at least writing one other this week, but it just didn’t happen.

This weekend, Hadley has one final volleyball tournament, and then it’s a wrap for the JV team. Sunday looks to be rainy, and I hope to spend some time reading and maybe watching Father of the Bride in honor of Diane Keaton’s passing. What a legend!

Have a great weekend!

Share Our Lives: October 2025

Hello and happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Ours was pretty action packed with Homecoming festivities, and yesterday I needed the day to recuperate and get my life together.

Slow down, October! How is it already the second Monday of the month? That means I’m co-hosting the Share Our Lives link up with some of my favorite bloggers.

So far this year, we’ve discussed…

  • Saving time on chores in January
  • Tips for falling asleep in February
  • Day in the life, an average day in March
  • Creative outlets/free time in April
  • How do you spend your birthday in May
  • Unique things about where you live in June
  • Best vacation memory in July
  • How do you take a break in August
  • 5 things we do each season in September

This month’s topic is…go to snacks.

I love a snack! I always pack some kind of snack for school or stock up on a few items to have on hand at school.

My whole family loves Core Power protein drinks, and the chocolate one is my fave. I leave some in my classroom fridge, so I have one a few days a week at school.

Protein bars are another easy snack idea that obviously are a good source of protein. The Barebells bars are my go to, and I get them at Trader Joe’s. I will say that I usually just eat half a bar one day and then the other half another day. They just seem to be kind of filling for me.

If I really have my act together on a Sunday, I try to wash some grapes and put them in little baggies. The snack size baggies are perfect for this.

Another fave snack is apple and peanut butter. These individual Jif peanut butters are so easy and convenient.

I love Grab the Gold bars. Kroger doesn’t always have them, but when they do, I buy quite a few. Sometimes, I’ve seen them in gas stations, but not locally.

I’m sure these aren’t the healthiest, but I typically have a granola bar in my purse just to have on hand in a pinch.

Other snacks I love are carrots and Ranch dressing, so I will buy the individual Ranch packs to take to school. I also love chips and salsa, Balanced Breaks – cheese, cashews, and craisins, as well as Babybel cheese.

What’s your “go to” snack?

If you have a blog, we hope you’ll link up with us today. I’d love to expand my snack options; sometimes I feel like I’m just eating the same things every day.
