Tuesday Talk

Hello! It’s Tuesday Talk time with Erika and Ashley.

This is a link up where the topic is anything you want to chat about…Well, today, I’d like to talk about…

Air fryers!

I’ve wanted one for a while…I’d thought about asking for one for Christmas, but I wasn’t sure where I’d store it when not using it. Well, since Trav’s work didn’t have a Christmas party this year, they had an employee drawing for gifts! When Travis called to tell me he won the air fryer, I was about as excited as if he’d told me he’d won $1 million! 😂

We reorganized our kitchen closet, so it has a home when it’s not being used, but the problem is…I don’t know what to make in it!

I’ve gotten really good at hitting the “snowflake” button to cook frozen foods, and we’ve reheated tacos and pizza in it as well!

Lately, I did branch out and roast some broccoli (with extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and Everything But the Bagel seasoning) in it. That’s my “go to” broccoli recipe that I typically do in the oven. I was relieved that it worked in the Air Fryer because it was definitely quicker and a bit easier to clean up!

Then, I really gained confidence and made Chicken Parmesan which turned out amazing! The only issue was that I had to cook the chicken in two batches because I was wanting to make enough for leftovers the next day.

What else do you suggest making? I’d love some side dish and vegetable recipes. Also, I liked making the main course (Chicken Parm) in it, so do you all have any suggestions for easy dinners? Do people make desserts in the Air Fryer? Why is there a button with a piece of cake on it?! I’m intrigued.

I want to love this new gadget so much…and I do, but I definitely would like to use it for more than reheating food and cooking frozen food!

Thanks for any help and suggestions! I’m trying to add “Air Fryer Expert” to my culinary resume, so I appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks so much for reading, and make sure to check out the other ladies’ posts too!

  1. We made hamburgers in it a couple weeks ago. So good!! I also made stuffed cream cheese jalapeños wrapped in bacon for the super bowl and they were amazing! It cooks everything evenly & I can walk away to do something else without burning it.

  2. Look up easy air fryer donuts. You use the grands flaky layer biscuits and cinnamon and sugar on top, basically. My kids loved them.
We have done chicken wings and those turned out really good. For us, that’s the best way to make them.

  3. Wow! I love winning things! I don’t know if you remember but I borrowed my sister in law’s last spring. I made the bagels in it! They turned out great! Honestly I think you can do anything you would do in the oven. Frozen fries, veggies, little hand pies with pie filling and pie dough would be good. There’s a ton on Pinterest! Let us know what you make.

  4. I’ve had one for a year. I like chicken strips, so I buy chicken breasts on sale and cut them into strips, batter them in egg and flour and into the air fryer. Mmmmm so good! Mine also has a rotisserie and I have rotisseried 3 lb turkey breasts. It was so moist and done to perfection. I brined one first. I also buy small frozen pizza (Totinos, I think), Dr. it up with more veggies and mozzarella. Throw it in the air fryer and it comes out perfect. I really want to try fries but I haven’t had the nerve yet. I want to try reg. fries and if they turn out, then I want to do sweet potato fries. I have done toast, but just because my 20 yr old toaster quit and I didn’t want to buy another one to take up more counter space. I made soft pretzel bites first thing. I think it was with a roll of crescent roll dough. They were good but I found out you have to spritz them with a bit of oil. I have tried a few other frozen things too. One thing you need to remember, you most of the time need to spritz what you’re making with a bit of oil. I like olive oil, depends on what it is. Mine has 3 shelves. It also dehydrates. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents. 🙏❤️

  5. We also use ours a lot to reheat food. I usually toss Left over French fries from carry out but not anymore. Have you ever used Oven Fry coating? It’s near breadcrumbs and shake and bake in the grocery. We have used it for years in the oven but used it last week in the air fryer. So crispy! I have a lot to learn as well but it sure does keep left overs from getting tossed around here.

  6. An air fryer has been on my wishlist, but same as you, I am totally not sure where we would store it. We have hardly any cupboard or closet space in this house. But I have heard so many great things about it, so hopefully someday! Enjoy using yours!!

  7. This is the exact airfryer that I have and I LOVE it. I even started a local facebook airfryer group (Airfryers of quarantine and beyond). We make grilled cheese, Hawaiian hot ham and cheese, broccoli (like you mentioned above), mushrooms, hard boiled eggs, chicken, shrimp, french bread pizzas, and doughnuts. Oh, and you asked about desserts…try airfried grilled peaches…so good!
We use our airfryer nearly every day! Enjoy!
