Not Just a Mom

Hello and happy Monday. I’m so excited for today’s post! It’s the first Not Just a Mom link up of 2021, and I get to be a co-host with these lovely ladies:

Today’s topic is “getting cozy and small comforts.” Cozy is my love language. I love nothing more than being snuggled under a blanket or wearing an over-sized sweatshirt to feel cozy and comforted.

I think the reason that fall and winter are my favorite seasons is because the temperatures are cooler, leggings and sweaters are a clothing staple, and an overcast cold day is the perfect excuse to lounge around, read, and sip on some coffee..

Well, I’ve already touched on a few things that are cozy, small comforts for me, but here are the details.

Cozy/Comforts:

First of all, I just like being at home. I’m the most comfortable at home, and I like to make my house feel like home. I also love when everyone is home. It doesn’t mean we are all together doing something (that is nice though!), it just means all my people are accounted for, I have nothing to worry about, and I just feel settled.

I start every morning with a cup(s) of coffee! Whether it’s 25 degrees out or 75 degrees, I feel comforted by the warmth of a cup of coffee.

Saturday provided the perfect cozy morning with cloudy skies and cold temps. I lit a candle, got a blanket and finished a book on my Kindle.

We use our fireplace quite a bit in the winter, and I love that it’s double sided, so we can feel the warmth at our kitchen table and in the living room. A fire definitely provides comfort and coziness during the winter.

I love an over-sized sweater, and I shared this Amazon one a couple times last week. It’s perfect because you can dress it up or down, and I’ve worn it with workout tights, leggings, and skinny jeans with booties.

Seriously, cozy could be my middle name 😉 What are your “must haves” for cozy comforts?

Next month’s topic is “Healthy Habits and Staying Motivated.” I’m glad I looked at this topic in advance, so I can try use it as incentive to continue working out and eating healthy! 11 days into the new year, and I’m off to a pretty good start.

Grab this graphic, link back to one or all of us, and share your Not Just a Mom post!

Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you have a great week!

  1. I love that coffee mug!!! There’s a reason I like to get up and enjoy my first cup of coffee-hot chocolate before I have to speak to anyone 🙂

  2. That mug is funny! I’m jealous of your double sided fireplace! That is a dream! Got that sweater and it’s amazing quality – I saw it on lightning deal and snagged it for $7 less in apricot. Question – do the wrinkles come out? I am debating going down a size. It’s pretty big.
Also, how do you grab a graphic from someone’s link up if it isn’t too hard to explain.
    Thanks for the link up!

    1. So glad you got the sweater. Can’t pass up a lightning deal. If you think it’s too big, I would definitely return and size down. I bought a large and it’s definitely bigger like could be a dress where the medium is the perfect oversized sweater for me to wear with leggings etc
I just have always saved the pic on my phone from the blog posts. Hold down, save photo . Does that make sense?

      1. I read most blogs on my computer, but when I see a graphic, I just get on my phone, save, and then upload to WordPress app as a photo.
The first sweater I bought I should have returned but put it on thought it was ok, wore it and then ordered smaller size which was perfect. So now I have a too big one and two mediums. Ugh. But I will still wear the bigger one…it’s just not ideal

      2. So excited you taught me this! Haha! I upload all photos on WordPress app on phone and then type posts on laptop.
I hate the hassle of returning and that has caused me to keep sub par items.

      3. I do the same thing- upload on my phone but type on laptop. I’ve been good with reeling in my amazon purchases this month 😂 I bought a few organizational things January 1st but have been good ever since

  3. That double sided fireplace is so great!! I love seeing how everyone is cuddled in their homes, it’s the best place to be right now (or who am I kidding, I have always loved being cozy at home, pandemic or not!)

  4. I too am an unabashed homebody and just love it when we’re all home weather we’re all in our own corners of the house or now; it’s especially odd to adjust to a kid that’s driving and I’m hit at odd times with the thought that he’s out on the road. I definitely breathe easier when he’s home (though I am proud at how well I am doing with it)!

  5. Oh gosh I’m so jealous of your double sided fire!! Is it wood burning or gas? Ours is wood burning which can be a pain at times but also very much worth it. There’s just nothing like a real fire 🙂
